irreverent storytelling with beautiful soundtrack

Beautifully textured songs that hinge on a note of irreverence. Each song painstakingly arranged to invoke the human feeling: love, lust, dispare, happiness. But without making judgement. The song is up to your interpration. Much like the works of Tom Waits, Nick Cave's songs suggest something, but let you determine just what it is. One of Nick Cave's songs, "Push the sky Away", was recently used in a very somber/climactic scene for the FX series "The Bridge". The scene and the music melded together seamlessly and provoked the intended emotions.

dark & haunting folk music

The Handsome Family produce beautifully crafted, dark & haunting folk music. The music and lyrics hark back to a time representative of Dylan and Cash. While most listeners have become familiar with The Handsome recently, the band has actually been around for over 20 years and produced 10 albumns during that time span. Part of their recent success can be attributed to HBO using their song "Far From Any Road' on the opening credits of the series "True Detective". If you enhoyed this particular song you will enjoy the entire albumn. True honest folk music!

Sufjan Steven's cd Michigan is a masterpiece on to its own. Once again Steven's has managed to capture and incaptulate the feeling of "being there". Through precise music/lyrics you can feel the struggles of life in Michigan. In particular, on the song "Flint" which surmises the cd on a whole. This song was also used in a sceen of one episode of the tv series "low winter sun" with great visual accomplishment.

At first listen you are instantly drawn to make comparisons to Simon & Garfunkel. The folk guitar and vocals are very similiar to some of Simon & Garfunkel songs. But, upon repetative listenings you can distinguise the subtle differences. All in all a great folk albumn both musically and lyrically.

After seeing hangover part I,II, i was looking forward to part III. but i was disappointed that the plot was kinda alll over the place. the journey was boring and there were no real suprises until the scene after/during the credits. while i still enjoyed the film because i am a fan of the trilogy i don't think most people will find it engaging.

I would highly recommend this dvd to anyone who loves tv drama. The acting and plot twist are superb and keep you on your seat constantly. You will be torn about who to route for when choosing sides. Who is the lesser of two evil? One of the best tv dramas to come along in years. Madeline Stowe has resurrected her career.
