Good Modem for the price

I wanted to save some money by not having to rent a modem from my provider (Time Warner). I purchased the CM500 since this was an approved modem from Time Warner and I have always had good luck with Netgear products. It was a breeze to set up with just one call to my provider to activate it and I was up and running with the same thru-put as I had been getting (237/23MB) with the modem that my provider had supplied. And the good news is I will break even in costs in under 1 year of ownership. I have had the modem for almost a month now and have not experienced any issues.

Tends to bubble up on the edges

First off, I have applied this type of protection to a lot of phones, but this was a little harder to install, but that could be due to it being larger than a standard phone. However, it tends to bubble up on the edges, but my IPAD is in a logitech case with keyboard which may be the cause of some of it. But it bubbles up mostly at the top edge near the volume control and near the lower right side. But I use the smoothing tool that came with it to push the bubble down. This happens a few times a week, If you are OK with having to perform this task then the benefit of having your screen protected is worth it.

I like Bon Jovi's music and theis CD has a lot of his top hits. But some of the tracks are not the versions that are played on the radio. So if you are looking for exactly what is played on the radio you might be disappointed. But the renditions are all very good and should meet your approval.

This is a review of the Canon Powershot SX 700 HS camera. This was a hastily purchased item as I was at the start of my vacation when I accidently dropped my camera and broke the zoom functionality (at a minimum). So I whipped out my IPAD and started searching camera reviews and wanted to stay with Canon due to previous experience (Canon SX 210). I was immediately impressed with the 30X optical zoom along with some of its other features after reading the on-line manual. Once I started using it on my vacation I was impressed with the sharpness of the image even when I pushed the zoom towards the top of the optical zoom capability. The camera was also able to take fairly decent photos in minimal light settings in conditions where a flash was not permitted. An interesting feature is what is labeled hybrid and takes 4 seconds of video along with a still photograph. The camera also has a one-touch video recording capability regardless of the shooting mode you are in. And it has a wide range of video options from 1920x1080@60 fps down to 640x480@30fps as well as a super slow motion mode. I have not yet explored all the capabilities of the camera but I have been very pleased so far. The camera also includes Wi-Fi and NCF capabilities to enhance the photo sharing experience. The only negative items which are not necessarily a reason to forego getting the camera are the fact the manual that is in the box only provides the basics to get the camera operational and you have to download the full manual on-line to learn of its full capabilities and the included wrist strap was not much more than what looked like a piece of string. So I commandeered the one from damaged SX210 which was much sturdier. So if you are looking for a mid-priced compact camera I believe you will not be disappointed with the SX 700 HS.

Netgear – N900 Dual Band Wireless-N Router

I have been using this router for around one month now and have found not one thing to complain about. This router is a replacement for a previous older Netgear model that was prior to WPS being enacted (yes it was that old). It had served me well until recently when I had to reboot is many times a day for any Wi-Fi connected devices. As I said I have had this up and running for around a month and have not had to touch it other than via the Netgear Genie software to enable devices to connect to my network (I like my network to be secure). Initial setup was fairly straight forwards and did not take that long and I split my devices between the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands to even out the load. As far as the Wi-Fi signal goes I have found it to be fairly powerful. Despite some reviews stating that this router has a limited range I have found that not to be the case in my situation. My router is located near the front of my house and took my iPad to the rear of my backyard with the signal passing through 2 walls and about 80 to 90 feet and still achieved over 20Mbps which is the maximum download speed with my provider. I also like the Netgear Genie software as it allowed me to see and quickly change the channel I was broadcasting on as it conflicted with a neighbor. So, to sum things up this router is easy to setup, is reliable and has an excellent range and I would not hesitate to recommend it to a friend.

The CM500 is a cable modem only - No WIFI.
