I'm very experienced with computers. First thing I did was swap out the HDD for a Samsung Evo 850 SSD and man this laptop flies, as any would with an SSD. Originally with the HDD it took long to boot, now it takes 8 seconds, fingerprint, boom, you're in chrome in 20 seconds from booting.
Everything about this laptop is premium with the exception of the camera and speakers. The speakers aren't powerful at all, you wont enjoy long YouTube sessions/movies with this without headphones. The camera isn't good quality, I think 480p? Use your phone to skype.
Now to the good. Keep in mind I have an SSD so unless you're doing the same this will vary. This pc is a beast, no slow downs at all. Even big programs like Photoshop open in under 10 seconds with everything near instant. There's no dedicated graphics so don't expect any gaming on here, unless its a low intensive game on low settings. Screen isn't very bright and is terrible in sunlight/outdoors, all you'll see is yourself. But indoors this 1080p panel is more than adequate . Keyboard has decent travel, needing a bit more than little force. All in all it's good to type with, can see myself doing essays no problem. It does flex a little in the center of the keyboard if you press down hard, with normal typing not a problem. The back-lit function has 3 settings which comes in handy. Durability wise it seems like a go, solid frame/hinges. The 2-1 feature might not be for everyone but I love reading comics/manga in vertical tablet mode. Touchscreen is very responsiveness and disables keyboard/track pad after 180 degrees. Don't expect to be holding this in the air, too heavy for that.
Bottom line, this machine is very powerful with an SSD, highly suggest getting one. Without it the OS will feel sluggish and hinder the full experience this laptop can offer. It definitely has the capable hardware, however the speed will definitely be lacking with its 5400rpm HDD. At the very least clean install windows 10 right when you get this laptop or you'll be greeted with 100+ ASUS programs that are just bloatware, all it will do is slow it down more. If you have any question, feel free to ask.
