Not as good as others but not bad

This is def. a different album for the band. You could tell by the first track by how less rock it is than previous openers. The song has a familiar sound but is more poppy than other openers.
The second song which is pretty different for the band in general was the first single. It is a good song despite it being new territory for fans of the band. It seems to be very spacy.
When We Come Alive might be the most anthemic on the whole cd which is I think the current single.
Say It Like You Mean it was one of my favorites when first liostening to it surpriningly. I say that because this is almost rap as it is spoken word like what they did with "Selling The News". Despite that though, there is still some good rock to it.
Slipping Away is a notable track as it is probably the most negative song on the album in terms of lyrics.
Let it Out is another favorite as it is one of their most traditional songs. Just a straight up good rock song.
Like I said before it is def. different. Thir past three albums were more rock and less poppyas this one. TYyhough it does not mean its a bad album. It is still good and their lyrics are still familiar and positive for the most part.

Ok but not as good as other albums (poppier)

I'm more of a rock fan than pop, so due to that I'm not a fan of this album as much as some of the others. It's not a bad album though/. The band definately took a new direction on this album. They evolved from each album to the nextm but this was the most drastic change.
The first track Baptized is a good transition I guess since it still incorporates some old stuff and new stuff. It's a mid tempo track but you can tell it;s something different.
Waitiing for Superman which was the first single definately was new for the band. It has some very poppy elements but I would still consider it a good song overall.
I'll Fight is one of my favorites and seems like it could have had the potential to be a really good rock song if they put more rock into it. The chorus is reallyy strong but the versus aren't as strong.
Long Live Rock and Roll incorporates a lot of pop culture references to rock and roll and is cool because of that.
Iit kind of slows down after track number 7 besides for Traitor which is a kind of good surprise. It is pretty edgy for a pop album like this.
It closes with "18 Years" whcih is a good closer.
Overall I would just say this album is ok which is a dissapointment from a band who had solid albums before. I would hope they go back into rock next time around.

Decent but not as good as "Wasting Light"

I thought "Wasting Light" was the best Foo Fighters album. Although this album is decent, I wouldn't consider it as good. It is a cool concept how they used the influence of all styles of music, but it takes away some of the vintage Foo Fighters style. Some of the style Foo's are known for are still there, it's just mixed with other styles.
"Something From Nothing" starts off the album and is a weird opener for Foo's since it starts off slow but is still a good song. The bridge sounds more like Foo's with the yelling.
"Feast and Famine" was my favorite when I first heard the album. I think it is one of them that sounds most like them. It is probably the most rock song out of all of them on album. I really like the lyrics in it as it talks about change and dreams for the world to be better. "We need the monuments......then change will come."
"Congregation" might be the next single as it seems the most radio friendly out of the rest. This song has some influenced by their "Echoes" album. This song was influenced by the Nashville scene so it has some country elements in it but does sound like a rock song in a lot of ways. The lyrics supposedly got influenced by Nashville as well (if you watched the documentary on the album) as it seems to be about god and faith. It is evident by lyrics like "Where is your blind faith", "I've been going through life making foolish plans now my world is in your hands." It gets powerful in the bridge when he yells "Step into the light" over and over.
I think for the most part the album goes downhill (not including "In The Clear") after the first three songs.
"Outside" sounds like somewhat a typical upbeat Foo Fighters song after the first 20-30 seconds of some sort of jam. It stays like that for a while but they go into another sort of jam in middle toward end.
"In The Clear" is one of my favorites and my favorite from second half. It's more of a mid tempo song seems to be one of the least influenced by outside styles. This one is influenced though by the New Orleans jazz style and you can hear it sometimes in the song but you have to listen more closely.
I didn't listen to the last two songs that much. they are slower ones. They seem good, but I think I have to be in a different mood for them.
