The ULTIMATE Mid-Range Android Phone
on May 21, 2023
Posted by: Daniel
PROS:
- Amazing cameras
- Same Tensor G2 as in the 7 Pro
- 90Hz refresh rate
- Wireless charging
- Supports BOTH physical and eSIM
CONS:
- No headphone jack
- Gorilla Glass 3 (came out in 2013)
- Gets REALLY hot
== The Physical ==
The Pixel 7a has a metal frame and camera "visor", but the back of the phone is plastic (instead of glass). I don't mind the back being plastic, especially since the 7a has wireless charging (unlike the 6a).
The screen is using an older version of Gorilla Glass 3, which came out in 2013, but I use screen protectors on my phone so while it doesn't bug me, it's worth noting. Speaking of the display, the screen bezels are on the "larger" size for 2023.
The display can go up to 90Hz, but the feature is disabled out of the box. You need to go into the settings to turn it on (which I HIGHLY suggest you do). Colors look great and the display can get bright enough to use comfortably outdoors on a sunny day.
If you like using wired headphones with your phones, you might want to pass on the Pixel 7a, as your only option would be to use a USB-C dongle. While Google did remove the headphone jack, they did add the ability to use a physical AND eSIM, which is great for traveling.
== The Cameras ==
I'm still so impressed with how amazing the photos and videos are from the Pixel 7a. It's great to take flagship-level pictures on a mid-range device. While I'm not big on selfies, the front-facing camera is amazing (I love it for quick video calls).
There are two different modes for video stabilization: standard (the default) and active (great for if you're running while taking videos). The active mode works VERY well, a feature I'm going to appreciate even more as Summer approaches.
This is more software related than the cameras, but Google has two AMAZING features you'll want to take advantage of with the Pixel 7a: "Magic Eraser" and "Photo Unblur". Have kids and/or pets that won't stay still for photos? The "Photo Unblur" feature does exactly what you would expect (it still so cool to see it work). "Magic Eraser" is a super-easy photo editing feature that can remove people/things from your photos.
== Performance ==
The Pixel 7a has the same SoC as the Pixel 7/Pro, so expect flagship performance at half the price. I don't notice any hiccups or slowness in any app I normally use (browsers, MS Office, streaming apps, SEVERAL games). The excellent performance from the SoC, paired with the 90Hz display, makes the Pixel 7a amazing to use. Games look and feel amazing, thanks to the high refresh rate display and the Tensor G2. There isn't a game on the Google Play store that this phone can't play!
My only complaint about the performance is that the phone will get quite hot if you push it with demanding games. If I play CoD or Honkai: Star Rail, the phone (especially the frame) will get uncomfortably hot after about 5-10 minutes of use. I use a case which helps, plus this might be fixed with future software/firmware updates from Google.
Battery life is "decent". If you are a heavy user, or play a lot of games, you won't get a full day out of the battery (thankfully it DOES have wireless charging). I'm an average/light user (stream music, occasional doomscrolling, and some games for a few minutes) and I can end the day with a little over 30% of battery remaining.
== BOTTOM LINE ==
It wasn't too long ago that if you wanted the best SoC, cameras, and displays you had to go with the expensive flagship phones. Now, you can get those important features in a mid-range phone. I've used other budget/mid-range Android phones over the years, but none of them made me feel like I was using a flagship phone like this one does.

Safe for all your body hair!
on February 6, 2023
Posted by: Daniel
PROS:
- Solid build
- Comfortable to hold
- Easy to clean
- LOTS of attachments
- Travel/storage bag included
CONS:
- Need a charging block for USB cable
I'm surprised with how many attachments were included, plus they're all nicely labeled! The included pouch is nice for keeping everything together, but that's all it's really good for (it won't protect the trimmer if you toss it in your luggage). The built-in rechargeable battery is great, but the included charging cable is a USB-A cable WITHOUT a charging block (you'll need to use one from your phone/tablet).
This is great for all body hair: head, face, chest, and other areas. The included paper manual shows which attachments are best to be used on different body parts/areas. I've been using it for about a week now, and I have ZERO complaints about the performance. No cuts, no nicks, or any other issues.
Cleaning is super easy! The attachments and trimmers are easy to remove and can be rinsed off in the sink. They even included a little bush for the trimmers if you don't want to rinse them.

Great headset for both meetings and enjoying music
on November 9, 2022
Posted by: Daniel
PROS:
- Connect to two devices at the same time
- Excellent mic quality w/noise-cancelling
- "Flip-to-Mute" mic arm
- Very lightweight
- Decent battery life
- USB-C charging
CONS:
- Bluetooth only for connection
== SETUP ==
If you just want to get your headset to work with your laptop/desktop/phone right away without an app, just slide and hold the Bluetooth button on the headset to enter pairing mode, find it on your laptop/desktop/phone, and pair. You don't need any drivers or an app to just use it and the mic, which is nice.
If you want to get the most out of your headset, you really should install the "Logi Tune" app on your phone. The app is how you're going to run firmware updates, rename your headset, adjust the sleep timer, adjust the sidetone volume (how loud your own voice comes through your headset), but most importantly: adjust the equalizer.
The equalizer has four presets and you can add your own custom profiles, based on what kind of music you listen to and your own personal preferences. The equalizer preset you go with is saved to the headset, so you don't need to worry about switching between your phone or laptop and having different audio presets.
You can connect to two devices at the same time. This means you can listen to music on your phone and then quickly answer a Teams/Zoom call from your laptop without needing to disconnect from one to connect to the other. This may be my favorite feature of the Vibe 100.
== BUILD QUALITY ==
The first thing you're going to notice when you take these out of the box is just how insanely light they are. While a headset's weight isn't always an indicator of quality, I was still worried about the audio experience based solely on how light the Vibe 100 is. Thankfully, audio and mic quality is great, so the light weight just means you can comfortably wear this headset for several hours.
Part of that comfort comes from the material Logitech used. It's like a very soft, almost woven-like fabric. It's very comfortable, even if you have glasses. I don't know how well this fabric will hold up over time to sweat, skin oil, and normal wear-and-tear, but the earcups ARE replaceable, so you can hold onto these for several years and change out the earcups later on down the road if needed.
== BATTERY LIFE ==
Logitech advertises that you can get up to 20 hours of listening time and up to 18 hours of talk time. This will vary from person to person (how loud you're listening to music, how often you're talking, etc.), but I'm able to go through two work days before needing to charge the headset.
Speaking of charging, you CAN charge your headset while using it. Just plug it in, turn on the headset, and you're good to go.
What you CAN'T do is bypass the Bluetooth to listen to music with a USB cable. It's a Bluetooth only connection for audio/mic. This isn't a big deal, but something to consider.
== AUDIO/MIC QUALITY ==
Out of the box, audio quality is pretty good. Not the best, but FAR from the worst. To get the best audio quality possible, based on what type of music you enjoy, you'll really want to use the Logi Tune app to customize the EQ. Noise isolation isn't the best, so be mindful of your surroundings (don't max out the volume in a library).
The mic is really great, both in terms of audio quality and convenience. I love that I can quickly flip down the mic to unmute and talk, then flip it up to mute myself. When using the mic, I was told that my voice was VERY clear.
You will also be able to hear your own voice when talking, but if you don't like that feature, you can disable it (or change the volume) in the app. I find it helpful, but I know that some people really don't like it.
== BOTTOM LINE ==
This is a great, simple headset for working in the office or from home. It's very light and comfortable to wear for hours, the music quality is great (for when you're focusing), the mic quality is fantastic, you can mute/unmute yourself by just flip up/down the mic arm, and can be connected to your laptop and phone at the same time. My only real complaint is that you can only listen to music through Bluetooth, but that's not deal-breaker for me.

Absolute BEAST of a gaming laptop, but runs HOT
on November 9, 2022
Posted by: Daniel
PROS:
- Ryzen 9 6900HS
- RX 6800S
- MUX Switch!
- Amazing performance
- Bright, 16:10 display with 3ms response
- Great battery life
- User upgradeable storage and memory
- Windows Hello
- Excellent keyboard
CONS:
- Gets very HOT
- Backlit with white keys
== SETUP ==
I don't think I've ever seen a Windows laptop ship with almost no bloatware. The only thing I uninstalled was "ClipChamp", and I think that's something that Microsoft puts in with Windows 11. There's no bundled anti-malware software to worry about, no long list of ASUS apps (Armoury Crate and MyASUS are great and pretty helpful), just a nice (mostly) clean version of Windows 11.
Before doing anything serious, you'll want to make sure to install all the available Windows updates. Then use MyASUS to make sure your drivers are all up-to-date. Gaming performance is really going to take a hit if you're using out-dated drivers.
ASUS also recommends that you plug in the included 240W power adapter before you do anything serious. What's really great about the G14 is that you can use the included 240W adapter -OR- you can charge using the left USB-C port. I love this option, as I can leave the bulky charger at home and just keep a smaller USB-C charger in my laptop bag. You CAN play games with USB-C charging (up to 100W), but there will be a hit to performance.
== BUILD QUALITY ==
The laptop chassis is solid and feels premium. I like that the bottom cover has plenty of ventilation, especially considering the amount of horsepower is crammed into such a small laptop. The ports are: two USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A ports (both on the right), a USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C w/DisplayPort on the right, USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C w/DisplayPort + power delivery on the left, MicroSD card reader on the right, 3.5mm combo audio jack and barrel port for charging (the 240W adapter) on the left.
The display hinge is designed to lift the laptop up off the surface to help improve airflow for cooling (more on that later). There's no screen wobble while typing and the keyboard is GREAT! One perk of going with a 16:10 aspect ratio is that ASUS was able to give you more space for the palm rest AND a larger trackpad. As far as I can tell, it's a glass trackpad and is really good (decent palm rejection too). The keyboard is comfortable for typing all day and the keys feel solid and have decent travel. My only complaint about the keyboard is that the keys are white, so the backlighting isn't very great when you're in a dark room.
Speaking of the display, I really like the one on the G14. It's not OLED, but it does get quite bright (500 nits). I regularly have to turn down the brightness if not gaming, and not just to help save on battery life when away from an outlet. Colors are very accurate and look as good as they possibly can on a matte display. It has a 3ms response time, so it's fantastic if you're into competitive shooters. There is a 720p camera with an IR sensor at the top of the display housing, so you can enable and use Windows Hello for quickly logging into your desktop.
== GAMING PERFORMANCE ==
This is the most important aspect of the G14, and thankfully, it doesn't disappoint. I'm amazed that ASUS was able to fit a Ryzen 9 and 6800S in such a small chassis. What's even better is that they made sure to give it a MUX switch! If you look in the Armoury Crate, the MUX switch is listed as "Ultimate" in the GPU Mode settings (which requires a restart). All of my testing was done with the "Ultimate" mode.
I ran 3DMark to help give a general idea of just how powerful the G14 is (see screenshots). I also used the included benchmark in Far Cry 5 and Shadow of the Tomb Raider (see screenshots) to help get a better idea of performance with actual gaming.
In my personal experience, I've been able to run all of my games at max settings at 1080p resolution without an external display, and a mix of mid-high settings with an external 1440p display (I was aiming for 120+ FPS). The only aspect of gaming that the G14 struggles with is with ray tracing, but this is more of an AMD issue in both mobile and desktop (hopefully that changes with the 7000 series). I think my games still look great without ray tracing enabled, but if ray tracing is important to you, I would suggest looking at a laptop with at least an RTX 3060.
To get the most out of the 6800S, you will want to use the MUX switch (which will require a system restart). This will let you bypass the integrated graphics, so you won't see a performance hit compared to laptops without a MUX switch. You can absolutely leave the GPU setting to "Standard" if you want, just know that (especially if you're not using an external display) you're not going to get the best gaming performance possible.
One negative side of gaming with the G14 is HEAT. This laptop get VERY hot, even with the fans set to max. I would regularly see the GPU temp spike up to the mid 90s. You can help reduce your temps by lowering your graphics settings or using a cooling pad (or both). I would HIGHLY recommend that you use a cooling pad when gaming and possibly even go with undervolting (if you're comfortable with that).
== NON-GAMING PERFORMANCE ==
While the G14 is a beast for gaming, it's nice to know that you can use one laptop for fun AND productivity. The 16:10 display is great for getting work done (especially for programming), the keyboard is comfortable to type on for long periods of time, the WiFi card is good, and the battery life is really good for a gaming laptop.
I've read/watched popular reviews for the G14 claiming 8-10 hours of battery life when not gaming. This is obviously going to GREATLY depend on what you're doing. However, in my personal use with screen brightness around 50% and setting Windows power mode to 'best power efficiency', I'm getting 6-7 hours when working with a browser, IDE, and streaming music with Bluetooth headphones.
If you're worried about battery life, but don't want to bring the bulky 240W power adapter with you, you can use the left USB-C port for charging (up to 100W). This is actually the setup I use: keep the 240W brick at home for gaming and use a slim 85W USB-C charger in my backpack.
== USER UPGRADEABILITY ==
You can upgrade: the storage, WiFi card (some users recommend upgrading to the Intel AX210 over the included MediaTek MT7922), and one DIMM module. 8GB of RAM is soldered to the board (bummer), so the max supported is 24GB (if you swap out the included stick for a 16GB stick). Not a big deal to me, but it's worth considering if you need to run multiple VMs.
The battery is also very easy to access, so later on down the road you can easily+quickly swap it out with a new one.
The G14 uses a vapor chamber for cooling, as well using liquid metal instead of traditional thermal paste, so I don't know if I'll be re-pasting later on the future (not a fan of working with liquid metal in a laptop). I don't see how you can replace the fans WITHOUT removing the entire cooling assembly, so just be warned that it's going to be time-consuming to replace a fan.
== FINAL THOUGHTS ==
This is an absolute BEAST for gaming, especially considering its size. The compact design combined with high-end components does mean smaller cooling components as well, resulting in this laptop getting quite HOT when you push it. You can reduce the strain and use a cooling pad, but it's still not going to be perfect. You're trading some performance for a smaller/lighter laptop.
If you want to play all the latest games at 60+ FPS and have a portable laptop for school/work, this is a solid option as long as you're mindful of the cooling hit the G14 takes by be smaller.

Solid little keyboard!
on October 10, 2022
Posted by: Daniel
PROS:
- Small
- Vibrant RGB
- Optical switches
- USB-C connection
- Solid construction
- Compatible w/3rd party keycaps
- Two position feet
CONS:
- Keycaps are SMALL
- Keycaps collect oil easily
== SETUP ==
Just plug in the included USB-A to USB-C cable to connect your keyboard to your PC. You can download the Roccat Swarm software (for controlling RGB and key mapping), but isn't required to use.
One big reason to download and use Roccat Swarm would be for firmware/driver updates. Also, if you do swap out the included keycaps (like I did), you'll want to use Swarm to re-map some of the keys.
== BUILD QUALITY ==
The Vulcan II is SOLID! There is no flex to the deck, the switches are rated for 100 million presses, typing is quieter compared to other gaming keyboards, and I'm so happy that Roccat designed the Vulcan II to let you swap out the keycaps for whatever YOU want.
My biggest complaint about the Vulcan II is the included keycaps. I greatly dislike how small they are (I really don't like the large gap between the keys) and that they're almost glossy plastic (so they collect fingerprint oil as if it's their job). I posted two pictures: one with the included keycaps and the 3rd party keycaps that I installed.
== PERFORMANCE ==
There's not much to really go into detail here, Turtle Beach released a great little keyboard. I haven't run into any key press issues/bugs/problems since using this. All keystrokes have been correctly registered, even after swapping out the stock keycaps with ones that are noticeably heavier.
The RGB looks good right out of the box, even without using the Roccat Swarm software. However, Swam is worth installing for just the RGB controlling alone. I prefer to re-map certain functions, since I replaced the keycaps.
I really suggest that you give Swarm a try, it will help you get the most of the Vulcan II Mini.
== BOTTOM LINE ==
This is a great little keyboard for gaming (and school/work). I am so happy that Turtle Beach didn't go with something proprietary and lets you customize the keyboard however you want.
If you are looking to downsize from a full-size keyboard, this is worth taking a look. If your local Best Buy has a display unit, give it a try! Just remember that if you're not a big fan of the stock keycaps, you CAN replace them.

Time for a HUGE upgrade
on September 19, 2022
Posted by: Daniel
PROS:
- BIG!
- High refresh rate
- AMD FreeSync
- 1ms response time
- Colors look great
CONS:
- Wish it was brighter
- HEAVY!
== SETUP ==
The X32 is big and HEAVY. When you open the box, the instructions are to keep the front of the display face-down in the Styrofoam packaging while you attach the stand. I can't stress enough how much easier it is to install this way, the monitor is VERY heavy and awkward to maneuver (unless you have someone to help you).
There is an audio-out, if you want to connect your headphones/speakers. For video, you have two connection options: HDMI (2.0) and DisplayPort (1.4). You can use either to take advantage of FreeSync.
One of my biggest complaints became clear right away: the display isn't very bright. HP's spec page lists the X32 with a max brightness of 400 nits. It's not a deal-breaker by any means, but it does make a difference depending on the lighting in your room/area.
== DAILY USE ==
If you don't work from home (or have a separate setup for work and play), this is amazing. For gaming, having such a large display is awesome and really makes gaming more enjoyable and immersive.
If you do work from home and want to use one monitor for BOTH work and play, you might find this monitor to be almost too big. For work, I enjoy using apps/windows in split-screen to avoid feeling overwhelmed with small text.
Back to gaming: this was a HUGE (pun intended) upgrade to my gaming experience. Image quality isn't all that much sharper compared to my old FHD display. The PPI for the X32 is comparable to a 23.5" FHD monitor. So, the size and amount of information/content you can view is the advantage. You can see more of the battlefield/map compared to before.
Color accuracy is really good on the X32, MUCH better than my old display. I don't know how well this monitor will work for anything like video/image editing, but for gaming/videos it looks really good.
As an AMD fan, FreeSync is the biggest reason I wanted this monitor. While I'm using the DisplayPort to connect my system, the manual says you can use the HDMI port as well for FreeSync. To take advantage of the high-refresh rate and 1440p resolution, I would recommend that you have at least a 5700xt (I'm using a 5600xt, but I like playing older games).
== BOTTOM LINE ==
If you're tired of FHD gaming, but not ready for 4k, it's time to upgrade for QHD. While I would recommend this to anyone rocking an AMD card, the brightness might be an issue. If your local Best Buy has a display unit, you should really check it out. The size is great, the colors look fantastic, but you might need something brighter.

A great gaming mouse at a smaller size
on September 12, 2022
Posted by: Daniel
PROS:
- RGB lighting
- Smaller sized
- Built-in storage for receiver
- Programmable buttons
- USB-C charging
CONS:
- White material may require more cleaning
== SETUP ==
If you're not interested in using Logitech's software, you can just plug in the USB receiver, use the USB cable, or pair via Bluetooth and use the G705 right away. The back and forward buttons work without any customization with the Logitech software.
If you do want to get the most of your mouse, I would recommend installing the Logitech's G HUB. This is how you can customize the RGB lighting, adjust the DPI, or customize what each button does.
== DAILY USE ==
I'll start with quite possibly the most important feature of the G705: the size. It's great to find a gaming mouse designed for people with smaller hands. Compared to some of the larger gaming mice, the G705 almost looks like a travel mouse!
Logitech says that you can get up to 40 hours of use with the RGB on. Since your hand is covering it, I don't really use the RGB, so I'm getting MUCH better battery life (haven't had to charge it in almost two weeks of using a couple hours a day). When you do need to charge, the mouse does have a USB-C port, which is great!
I really like that there is a small compartment under the palm area to store the USB receiver when not in use. No more worrying about losing it whenever using the mouse away from home.
If you use Logitech's G HUB, you can program the buttons for different functions or macros. This is great for both gaming and productivity (if you prefer to use one mouse for fun AND work). You can also use G HUB for the RGB lighting.
While I wouldn't say this is a "silent" mouse, the G705 is certainly more quiet compared to other gaming-focused mice. You could get away with using this mouse in an office space or library without disturbing/annoying others.
== BOTTOM LINE ==
I love that Logitech finally offers a smaller gaming mouse. I'm also glad to see to see that micro USB finally seems to be gone! If you want a smaller, high-quality gaming mouse (with RGB!), I highly recommend checking out the G705.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Great for small homes or RVs/campers
on September 4, 2022
Posted by: Daniel
PROS:
- Lightweight
- NO CORD!
- Charging stand
- Re-usable filter
- Compact storage
CONS:
- Storage for "Duster Crevice Tool", but not the "Pet Multi-Tool"
- Vacuum doesn't really stand up-right without using the stand
== SETUP ==
The vacuum itself is only three pieces: the "main" section/handle (the actual vacuum and dust bin), the extension (middle), and the brushroll (base/bottom). The stand arrives in two pieces: the base and the charging/connection neck. You will also connect the power adapter to the bottom of the stand, so it's out of the way and makes charging the vacuum super easy by just placing it onto the dock.
There is small, re-usable air filter that's already installed. Whenever you need to clean it, just rinse it out in the sink (no soap!) and let it dry overnight before putting back into the vacuum.
== DAILY USE ==
This is really ideal for those who have pets and live in small homes or take their pets with them on RV trips. The vacuum can break down into two pieces while on the stand for compact storage (which I think makes it really great for RVs/campers). We've found it particularly amazing for keeping our carpeted stairs clean.
The brushroll is quite small, but works great! Even with pets and family members with long hair, it hasn't run into any issues with hair wrapping up in the brushes and causing any problems. Between the small brushroll and battery size, I'd highly recommend against making this your primary vacuum in a 3+ bedroom home with carpeting on all floors.
The vacuum and wand section are so light, it's really great for clearing out any cobwebs at ceiling corners. Honestly, this vacuum is worth having just for easy cleaning of carpeted stairs alone!
== MAINTENANCE ==
There's a single button slide to empty out the dust bin, just make sure you do it over/in your garbage bin. It's a small dust bin, so I would highly recommend emptying it out after each use. There is a small debris filter in the dust bin, Shark recomends that you just use a dry cloth to wipe it free of dirt/dust.
There is an air filter and it's re-usable. To access it, just open up the dust bin and press a small button to detach the bin from the vacuum. The air filter is bright orange and easy to remove. Whenever it needs to be cleaned, just rinse it off in the sink (without using any soap or brush), let it dry overnight, and then put it back into the vacuum.
== BOTTOM LINE ==
I love this just for making cleaning the stairs MUCH easier alone! It's small size and light weight make it easy for anyone (seniors or children) to use. The charging stand doubles as a storage stand, and the vacuum and be broken down into two pieces while on the stand, so you can store it in small closets (great for RVs/campers).

Great, portable cooling solution!
on August 29, 2022
Posted by: Daniel
PROS:
- Easy to setup
- Works great!
- Also acts as a dehumidifier
- Adjustable timer (great for bedtime)
- Includes a remote
- Reusable filter
- Not as loud as other units
- On wheels for easy moving
CONS:
- Heavy
== SETUP ==
When it arrives, please be warned that THIS IS VERY HEAVY (about 77 pounds). This may be a two-person job, especially if you're going to be setting up the unit on a 2nd/3rd floor of your house.
Once you have the box in the same room you want the unit to be installed, Frigidaire made packaging a HUGE relief: just cut the plastic ties and the box can be lifted up from the base. No need to open the box from the bottom or try to lift the unit from the top of the box. Thank you Frigidaire!
You will want to take a couple measurements of the window you're going to use for the exhaust vent. Depending on the shape/dimensions/style of your window, you can install the exhaust panel in either a vertical or horizontal position. The panel can be cut if needed, but some screws are included to prevent the sliding panel from moving once installed.
Frigidaire includes some foam padding strips with adhesive, which will go between your window and the vent panel. This is great for making sure the vent panel doesn't scratch anything and will help with closing any gaps.
The air intake is on the back (which is also where the filter is located), so try to avoid placing the AC unit in front of curtains, since they can/will block the airflow which can put stress on the unit (potentially damaging it).
== DAILY USE ==
I have a very old house and the 2nd floor is always much hotter in the summer, so this is an AMAZING solution (and much cheaper than paying for new/updated ventilation). You will notice a difference within moments of turning on the AC unit.
The included remote is a nice accessory, but I personally don't use it on a regular basis. For me, I just setup a schedule to run the AC during the day and then turn off at night (just before I usually go to bed). The sound is very noticeable, but I wouldn't call it "loud". Other competitor, or older units, are much louder. I can still go to sleep with the AC unit on, even when it's just outside my bedroom.
This particular unit is rated for cooling a space of less than 450 square feet, so while it's great for my situation, make sure you take some measurements of where you plan to use it first.
== MAINTENANCE ==
The air filter on the back is very easy to access. It's not disposable (thank you, Frigidaire), so you can use a damp cloth to clean it as needed. I haven't had it long enough to gauge how often it needs to be cleaned, but even if you want to clean it once a week, it should only take a couple minutes.
Frigidaire includes a metal bracket that you can screw into your window frame to keep the vent panel from moving, but due to the design of my old windows, it's not necessary. If you don't mind putting a couple holes into your window frame, just know you'll need to do this every year.
If you are going to use this as a dehumidifier, you'll need to be mindful of disposing the water that's collected. In the included manual, Frigidaire shows that you can attach a hose to the drain outlet on the back of the unit.
== BOTTOM LINE ==
I really love this as a solution to my old house to keep the 2nd floor nice and cool.
This is a great, simple solution that doesn't require hiring someone to permanently install a wall/ceiling AC unit. The wheels make it easy to move around so you can just push it into a closet for the winter, and wheel it back out in late spring.

Spiritual successor to the PS Vita
on August 29, 2022
Posted by: Daniel
PROS:
- Easy to connect
- Included adapter for iPhone 13 Pro Max
- Small size, but very comfortable
- Pass-through charging
- Headphone jack
- Free year of Backbone+
CONS:
- Apple might switch iPhones to USB-C soon
== SETUP ==
You will need to install the Backbone app on your iPhone. If you connect the Backbone One without it, you'll be prompted to go to the App Store to get it.
You'll need to create an account if you don't already have one, but by buying the new PlayStation edition, you do get a free year of Backbone+ membership for free.
I would connect your iPhone to the Lightning port first, then extend the other end of the Backbone to lock your phone in. If you have the new iPhone 13 Pro Max, there's an included adapter so your phone will fit.
== USING THE BACKBONE APP ==
This is the easiest way to navigate through all your games and various game services when using the Backbone One. It automatically finds any games you already have on your phone, but will also include other game suggestions from every other game streaming service.
The game search is really cool. You can either look for any game based on whatever genre you want, or you can just search for a specific game to see which service it's available on. You can get results for just about every popular service: Apple App Store, PlayStation Network, Xbox Game Pass, Stadia, Nvidia GeForce Now, Steam Link, and even Amazon Luna.
You can also take in-game screenshots and video recordings from the app using the dedicated button under the left direction pad. All your saved images and video clips can be accessed and shared from within the Backbone app.
== BUILD QUALITY ==
I have bigger hands and was initially worried about how long I could play before it became uncomfortable. Thankfully, the Backbone One found a nice sweet-spot of being small enough for portability, but not too small to become uncomfortable.
The build quality feels amazing! It's very sturdy and doesn't bend or twist while your phone is connected. The buttons are very clicky, the triggers are nice and springy, and the thumb sticks (while small) feel really good. I don't know what the next couple years will bring, but hopefully I don't need to worry too much about stick drift.
== PLAYSTATION EDITION ==
I've owned every PlayStation (except the PS5, thanks scalpers...) and even owned the original PSP. I missed out on the PS Vita, but was still bummed out to learn that Sony was giving up on handhelds. While we aren't going to see a new successor to the Vita, this version of the Backbone is as close as we're going to get!
I love that with just a few minor adjustments to the original Backbone, we have this beauty. I love playing my PS games on my phone with this controller! Sure, you could always just use a PS4/5 controller with a phone clip, but this is a MUCH more elegant solution (and much less bulk).
== BOTTOM LINE ==
I definitely find myself playing much more games on my phone now than before. It's very compact, no Bluetooth connection to worry about, you can charge your phone while playing, and the buttons feel great.
If you (or someone you know) is a big PlayStation fan and enjoys mobile gaming, this is AWESOME!

The phone will be available unlocked (carrier free)? To not depend on Verizon for the Android updates. When?

Verizon Wireless doesn't lock their smartphones anymore:

http://www.verizon.com/about/consumer-safety/device-unlocking-policy

You can buy the Pixel from Verizon (while I'm sure they would prefer you use them over another carrier) and put in a SIM card from another provider without any problems. Software updates to the Pixel are going to be directly from Google (just like Apple with their iPhones), even if you're on Verizon.

It is an unlocked phone, so I assume it is compatible with SIM card from other countries - is that correct?

Yes, the Pixel and Pixel do not have a SIM lock. You can put in a non-Verizon SIM card and the phone will work just fine.

However, the Pixel and Pixel XL phones from Verizon (for whatever reason) are shipped with the BOOTLOADER locked. This means you can't flash a custom ROM on the phone.

Only at Best BuyChoose this HP Spectre 13 notebook for its crisp 1080p display and 13.3-inch screen. It comes with a sixth-generation Intel processor and 8GB of onboard RAM for efficient multitasking, and its solid state drive ensure that programs load quickly. The slim design on this HP Spectre 13 notebook provide enhanced versatility.

Online, the estimated battery life is 9.5 hours. How accurate is this estimate?

I guess it really depends on what you're doing, but I'm getting roughly 6 hours on a full charge.

I'm usually streaming music while doing research, typing up documents, or watching a YouTube video now and then. I also like to leave the keyboard light on and my screen is set to around 70% brightness.

I'm sure I could lower the screen brightness, listen to music on my phone rather than the Spectre, and turn off the keyboard light to get more out of the battery, but I doubt it would be the 9 hours HP claimed.

The laptop is brand new too, so it could be something that could be resolved with a software update down the road.

this laptop does not have many reviews, why? and would you recommend this product if I like Netflix, traveling and take notes at school and some light gaming

The laptop is still very new, so I would guess that's why there are not that many reviews for it yet. Give it a little time and more reviews should start showing up on the site.

As far as recommending the Spectre, I'm a student as well. I LOVE how light this laptop is. The screen may not be 4K, but it's still HD (1080p) and content still looks good. While the speakers are decent, I would still use headphones when watching Netflix. Taking notes is actually pretty good on the Spectre, since the keyboard is surprising great given how thin the laptop is. They keys actually have decent travel distance. If I could complain about the keyboard, it would be that they are a little loud, almost like a mechanical keyboard (I don't think it is mechanical, but I could be wrong).

The Spectre doesn't have a dedicated GPU, it has Intel HD graphics. You could get away with casual games (I like to play Hearthstone on the Spectre), but I don't think you would be able to get away with more graphic-intensive games like Doom.
