The biggest appeal is the buttons on the side. It seems like there aren't that many mice made for gaming anymore that sport all the buttons. Besides the overall bulky size, it's lightweight and somewhat durable.

How many players can this detect upto?
Up to the allowable players for the system. The PS4 supports different players based on the games being played. Most games are played via multiplayer over the internet, but some games still use the split screen or couch co-op format for multiple players. It is all based on the number of players that a game allows, because once you connect a controller to your system, you no longer need a cable for it.
