Excellent phone. Not too big but much bigger than the last phone I had which was the RAZRHD. The apps are lightning fast as are the downloads/uploads. Graphics are first rate for games. 1080p movies run a little blocky but 720p and streaming Netflix stuff runs flawlessly. I have no use for the active stylus as I don't take handwritten notes. Comes with swipe typing utility that makes texting and note writing much easier.

I have been a loyal HP customer for 20 years. When my 8500 broke down naturally I looked to move up. The 8610 fit the bill perfectly. The printer is not too big and bulky. It's actually smaller than the 8500. It's fast on draft mode and prints beautiful pictures when using any brand of photo paper. The internet apps let you print from your phone or anywhere you have internet access. Negatives are the small screen is not very sensitive. I have to press a little to get it to work but the 8500 was the same way. The machine still vibrates when printing. You need a stable platform to sit it on. A printer cart will move around when its printing. Finally the copier top still doesn't have any means to arrest itself in case you drop it closed. You can break the glass if you let it drop too hard. HP really needs to investigate a fix for that. Otherwise it's a great machine for under $250!! I love it.
What's great about it: Print quality and features
What's not so great: Top cover slams easy
I would recommend this to a friend!

How to test the 8610 with documents on a flash drive
I want to compare the print quality of the 8610 to other printers, so I created three jpg files (letter, news letter, photo) and put them on a msdos formatted flash drive. The 8610 acknowledges the 3 files, but says they are corrupt. We checked the files on a store computer, and they are fine. What is going on and how do I get this to work.
Try them in a pdf. I've printed pdf files off a flash drive with no problems.

Will it print a document that is 9.50" x 14" ?
I have old high school newspapers that were printed on 9.50" x 14" and I am having a difficult time finding a printer/scanner/copier so I can make copies for friends and family. Hope you can find one that will work for me. Thanks!
