Sound quality is far superior

The optical cable sound offers much higher quality than traditional red/white audio cables. However, with my a Smart tv, while watching Netflix occasionally, there is a slight delay in sound. The dialogue sometimes quite noticeably lags a bit behind what appears on screen. It never did that with the red/white audio connection, but started when I switc to the optical, but the lower sounds are so much deeper and overall sound is much better.

Does this replace the the Audio/vid cable
Yes, it replaces the red/white audio cables for use with sound bar/subwoofer. That's what I use with smart tv.
