Academy Award winners Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg teamed up with two all-star casts to create each of the sprawling, epic-length World War II miniseries featured in this double-header. First on the bill is 2001's Band of Brothers. Adapted from the bestseller of the same name by Stephen Ambrose, it tells the story of the U.S. soldiers assigned to Easy Company, 506th Regiment of the 101st Airborne Division, U.S. Army. This was a crack squad of some of the most gifted men in the U.S.A.F., who parachuted into France on D-Day morning, fought in the Battle of the Bulge, and captured Hitler's Eagle's Nest at Berchtesgarden. Stars include Damian Lewis, Ron Livingston and Matthew Settle. Next in the set is 2010's follow-up, The Pacific. It recounts the experiences of three U.S. enlistees -- Eugene Sledge (Joe Mazzello, Robert Leckie (James Badge Dale) and John Basilone (Jon Seda), as they make their way across the harrowing Pacific Theater of World War II - with stops in Guadalcanal, Cape Gloucester, Peleliu, Iwo Jima and Okinawa.
I was initially confused by the title listing because with DVDs fullscreen means part of the original picture will be cropped out. However, after some research, with HD fullscreen means it utilizes the full screen of a widescreen TV.
Now for the two shows included in this set: Band of Brothers and The Pacific. I loved Band of Brothers. It follows one company of men from their training throughout WWII in the European theater. A must watch. The Pacific highlights three different Marines in the Pacific theater. A good show but in my opinion Band of Brothers is better.
I wish there were more extras for Band of Brothers like if there were deleted scenes (not sure if there are any).
The packaging is nice. It comes in a box with a magnetic latch. The discs slip into sleeves in a thick card stock.
Overall, for the price, I think this is a must own product.
What's great about it: Two excellent shows in Blu Ray

I hadn't watched all of the discs when I wrote the review. I have since watched them all and wanted to let you know that there is a very good documentary featured on a bonus disc entitled "He Has Seen War". It talks about what those who fought experienced after they returned from the war. It includes men and family members whom were featured in both Band of Brothers and The Pacific.
