One star for Pro 9.7

The speakers are piped forward through openings like the Targus case around the edges. The catch is the case has no smart cover function for Pro 9.7 users and the latch design to make up for no magnet placement is AWFUL and feels prone to breaking.

No Smart Cover function for the Pro 9.7

Okay case, but no Smart Cover function. Hopefully these do not sell well so Best Buy forces their vendors to not go the cheap route repurposing Air inventory. The case needs Smart Cover function.

No Smart Cover function for Pro 9.7

Having bad luck so far with full price case options. The Targus 3D is missing the speakers openings unlike the sleeve cover art shows, and this cover does not have Smart Cover function with the pro. I gave this three stars instead of two, since the sleeve does not say Smart Cover as a feature. Bad assumption on my part.
I guess I will go to the cheap case options on line, since the two higher price ones have missed the mark.

This would be five stars if the speakers were not blocked. I bought this today and notice there are no openings for the speakers. Were it not for this profound oversight, the case would rock.
Why no openings for the four speakers??

Great device KILLED by lack of ex FAT file support
on December 2, 2015
Posted by: rushmore69
from Lexington
The hardware is great. Build, display, speakers, battery life, design. The problem is the device only works with FAT32 format. This means no cards or external OTG storage will work unless formatted in the old and uncommon FAT32 format. I have a Note 4, Moto X Pure Edition, Galaxy Tab S8, Dell 7140 and laptops. All support ex FAT and all of my micro sd cards, thumbdrives and portable hardrives are exFAT. To make matters worse, FAT32 does not support 4GB files or larger. Kind of silly to design a device intended as a video media hub and hi def display and no 4GB or larger file support.
If Lenovo update with ex FAT support I will buy it again. Returning it today.

Great tablet!

I replaced a Note 2014 32GB with the Tab S 32GB bronze, since wanted something smaller and lighter. White background content is a battery drainer.
Nice size compromise that is much lighter and better display than the Note 2014 (The 2014 had some light bleed on sides). Smooth performance and no games stutter. Battery life is very good if you avoid a lot of whites as much as possible. I use Firefox and the "Black on White Text" plug in. Works great and makes a HUGE difference for battery life when web browsing.
A lot of apps have black themes too, so makes about at least a 30% difference with battery life.
Wifi range is very good and sound is loud for such a thin device. My 128GB micro sd works fine in the device as well.
Comics, magazines and books look great on the device.
Worthy purchase!

Great device!

The immersive experience is great! Games are very fun in 3D and movies are like in a theater, minus the annoying people sometimes there too ;)
One review called it VHS quality resolution, but that is nowhere near accurate. VHS is 240/320 resolution and interlaced. VHS looks funky bad compared to Gear VR. The Note 4 display is 1440p, but the content is split into two for the lens and 3D design. The actual content is about 540p to 680p, which is FAR FAR better than VHS. If you use the theater "Void" mode, more of the image is shown, hence the 680p. The other theaters result in about 540p.
Void cinema mode has three main advantages:
1. More display used for the image
2. Use less battery than the VR theater modes
3. You can orientate the view to if laying down. The others you have to be in some form of sitting angle.
If you own a Note 4, like VR and or a movie nut, this device ROCKS!

Enjoying this peppy performer
By GregFromLynnwoodWA from Lynnwood, WA
You'll have about 80 gigs free when this first boots, This is because 128 gigs in marketing terms measures as around 119 in computer terms. On top of that Lenovo and Microsoft carve out around 17.5 gigs for multiple recovery partitions and a partition where Lenovo stores copies of your driver installers. Then you add in about 21 gigs for Windows and all of Lenovo's pre-installed software. The combined size of the recovery partitions seem a bit big, but I think that may be Microsoft's doing more than Lenovo.
Once I removed all the pre-installed software I didn't want, the free space figure went up to 85 gigs. For a secondary machine, that's PLENTY. I'm not going to be keeping my entire collection of MP3s and family photos on this machine. It's my "grab and go" machine for writing code, emails, web surfing.
I was concerned that the 1366x768 resolution would be an issue, but the screen looks great. This has about as much screen real estate I've become used to on a laptop, and it's bright and clear.
It handles high def YouTube videos in full screen without groaning and the sound is clear at top settings. It's not going to wow anyone with thumping bass or room-filling sound, but it's plenty for me to Skype with my kids or attend a remote meeting via webcam.
The viewing angles are great and it doesn't turn into a mirror the moment you have some ambient light.
I actually considered the Transformer Book T100, but the keyboard on that was just terrible. This one is smaller than I'm used to and I'm making a couple more mistakes than normal typing this, but my speed is good and I'm not uncomfortable. My one criticism is there's some keyboard flex and a slight hollow sound under the T and Y keys.
I don't know about heavy 3D gaming, but I've tried some WebGL demos (including the new Google one for the latest Hobbit movie) and it ran them handily with good visual quality and speed with no stuttering.
As for complaints about the RAM, I'm running IE with two tabs open, Chrome with 4, a few File Explorer windows, a couple of system tools, and I've still got 2 gigs free. 8 gigs would be nicer, but 4 isn't as terrible as some people make it out to be.
All in all, it's a darn fine laptop for simple everyday use.

How is battery life and temperatures so far? I have the T100 right now, but considering the 11S from Best Buy. My T100 gets about ten hours battery life and plays older x86 games well and even some games like Burnout Paradise at native resolution.
The Sony device that is similar to this with the 4210Y gets hot and only has about five hours battery life.
Also, is the fan noticeable?
Thanks!

More evidence why the iPad leads the pack.
By RadlerKC from Kansas City MO
Let me preface my comments with saying that I worked almost 40 years in information technology so I think I can comment with a bit of knowledge.
This was a holiday gift to myself and i have no regrets whatsoever. It's amazingly light, very powerful, and the display is like watching a 4K HD TV. Furthermore, the battery life is absolutely amazing.
I, for one, don't back up any of my IOS devices on iCloud. I prefer to keep everything backed up on a Mac Mini that I use as a media server on my home theatre rack. Combined with an Apple TV, the combo makes a great adjunct to my theatre experience. Not only can I play Apple TV content but I can also use my huge screen Sony HD TV as a display for the Mac Mini and play various content on the huge display.
I do use iCloud to sync my contacts, calendars, and bookmarks across all my Apple products.
Getting back to the iPad Air; I bought the Space Grey version, which works best for me. I like the looks of the completely black face of the device, similar to the black bezel around HD TV's. Apple's vast selection of apps makes it impossible to not find the right app for my needs. In fact, there are so many, it sometimes becomes a task to decide which one/s to chose.
Apple's iBook store selection is enormous and also offers a huge selection of free books. Furthermore, Apple offers a free app that allows anyone to create their own books for any Apple products. This is a huge asset for budding writers and/or teachers.
On the downside, I have some issues with IOS7. First, it looks great but its functionality has been diminished slightly. The interface isn't quite as intuitive as it was with previous versions of the OS. Another complaint I have is with wallpapers. While the parallax feature is impressive to see, installing wallpapers is a complete pain, something ridiculous since even the most untechnical person should be able to accomplish it without any fiddling. It's also something everyone enjoys doing to customize their iPad experience. This problem is something Apple needs to correct. I attribute the issues with IOS7 to Jonny Ive, who took over OS development. He's a brilliant industrial designer and has done beautiful work with Apple's hardware since the return of Steve Jobs. That being said, making an OS look pretty at the sacrifice of efficiency is not helpful to Apple and its customer base. I have high hope and confidence Apple will recognize this wrong path and make course corrections accordingly.
All in all, I love my iPad Air and would strongly encourage potential customers to chose it over any other tablet or ebook reader.

AMAZING Tablet, but 16GB storage?????
By Dave82882
I picked this tablet 5 days ago and so far have been really enjoying it. The screen is amazing, the Intel Z3580 with 2GB of RAM absolutely flies, the build quality is top notch, the power/volume buttons feel nice, and I love the way this device feels in the hand.
For me, this device has two fatal flaws:
16GB of memory is an ABSOLUTE joke. After taking the immediate OTA update, you are left with 9.XXGB of free space. This is 110% unacceptable in 2015. The ability to add and SD card is nice, but Android has made external storage much less appealing over the years.
The second is no MHL or HDMI/slimport support whatsoever. (same as Nexus9) I imagine this is to drive users to the new dell cast, which may be nice, but forces users to drop an extra 80$.
Overall, I love the device, but may end up taking it back and waiting for Dell to release a 32GB+ option. If this were included off the bat, I would say without hesitation that this is the best tablet on the market right now.

This is too much for such small storage. Folks need to appreciate that Lollipop takes and additional 20% more of your storage due to the file structure of it.
The micro sd is nice for media, but you can't put apps on the sd card.

No 32Gb storage wifi model available.
By xyberknight
I've owned 2 of the Wifi model, 3 of the LTE model, and there are just a couple of things that bother me about calling this a premium tablet.
1. Lack of NFC support
2. Spotty 2.4Ghz, and non existent 5Ghz wifi
3. Only 2Gb of memory
4. The construction and poor heat expelling design materials
5. No notification light, or haptic feedback implementation
6. Half baked Android 5.0 Lolipop rushed firmware update.
7. Still missing originally promoted and promised features.
8. LTE is locked to AT&T only, though the tablet is listed as unlocked.
9. LTE sim card tray is loose, & constantly get disconnects or resets.
If you look beyond these, this is what it sets out to do which it be an android tablet for gaming(with the separately purchased Wireless Shield Controller-which uses Direct-Fi(direct wifi-poor man's NFC,no where near as stable, but does offer less latency). The 2Gb of memory it has is DDR3L 1866Mhz speed, but the cpu part of the SoC is the exact same design as the 1.9Ghz Tegra4 found in the Shield Console, but overclocked, which causes battery life and heat output to become at times unbearable. A tablet should never reach with a thermal gun read measured at 56.1C on the back panel. Most of the weight of the tablet and thickness is required for the IPS display panel, and internally graphite matting against the back cover(as a way of expelling heat cheaper than just using aluminum unibody or magnesium alloy). The device doesn't feel like it's worth the $299.99(& $399.99 for the LTE) spent, especially when you can get a comparable Sony, Samsung, Google, or Apple tablet that is just as fast or faster with more features, better battery, better Ecosystems for same or slightly more with LTE that isn't locked to just AT&T as a carrier. My experiences aren't yours, but just take into account known issues which is case construction design failure(cracking issues of the surround band with heat and expansion), display issues, and power failures. As well with all display devices dead/stuck pixels, and degraded capacitive response. When it works, it works good, but when your internal storage or memory card gets over half full, the slowdowns, force closes, and resets begin, which were not solved by a factory reset and hard power restart. My main concern with this is that they basically installed an AT&T micro sim card and added 16Gb more storage to the wifi model, and installed the LTE antenna and think it's worth charging $100 more for it. I don't see this as the type of value added features that would be worth $100 more. Maybe on a proprietary hardware design that doesn't have external storage microSD slot available, if it had at least a a more premium material design(metal or alloy casing), NFC, another 1Gb of Memory, a true Tegra K1 design, not half Tegra4 CPU with K1 GPU on the SoC, a notification sensor, or LED for the camera on the back like the Nexus 9 does. Any of these would at least give the illusion of more a more stable product and premium cost to value efficiency. Mainly for the LTE part, if you don't like, nor have AT&T service, then you will not like having to wait on AT&T approval of firmware updates, and also the locked in sim recognization and bloatware on an unlocked tablet for only supporting AT&T sims.

Best Gaming Tablet Bar-None
By Saitzev from Missouri
I have had this tablet for over a month now and have been very pleased with it. I use it on a daily basis. From gaming to surfing the web and everything in between.
The Stylus is a plus, not as accurate as say the stylus in Samsung Note product, but it is good enough to write and draw with.
I will say though on the gaming front, everything I've put on there it has blown through without a hiccup. It's awesome for emulation in that it actually has a GPU in it that's actually capable of rendering things quickly.
The HDMI output is fantastic. It's cool to be able to but my games and videos and whatnot on my TV @ 1080p and play it all with a controller.
The tablet comes with Trine 2 for free and it looks and plays every bit as good as it does on my desktop computer.
As for the controller, I'm not using the shield controller, I'm actually and successfully using one of my PS4 Controllers with an OTG cable and it works flawlessly. The only thing I encountered a problem with was diagonal movement in some emulators.
If you're looking for a tablet built for gaming look no further. If you need one with a larger screen then I absolutely recommend the Nexus 9.

Game emulators are 99% cpu so the gpu really has not value here. All gpus perform the same for emulators. The CPU power is what counts!
There are exceptions that require a little more help from the GPU and they are the Gamcube and PS2 emulators. They are about 10% gpu and 90% CPU.

Horrible
By Winni
I bought this as an upgrade to my previous tablet with high hopes, I was very disappointed. What they don't tell you is you need to have the software updated before you even leave the store! I had so many problems out of this piece of garbage! It kept locking up, it kept freezing, the buttons wouldn't work, I took it back to BB 3 different times, finally to order a brand new one, and when that one arrived, different problems, they said it was a program I was running causing the problems.... This nightmare went on for about 4 days before I threw in the towel, not to mention the week I went without a tablet while waiting for the new one to arrive as they didn't have another one in store. When I got the new tablet, same problems, again they said it was a program I was running, I finally ended up returning it and went back to the reliable Galaxy Tab 4 and it runs all my programs just fine and it doesn't lock up and the speed is awesome! I recommend the Tab 4 over anything else! If I could give this piece of junk minus 5 stars I would, that's how horrible an experience I had with it....

Because this IS and Android device. Not best Buy's fault Lenovo wanted to use same naming for different products. The did the same with Yoga Pro 2 as well.

Is this considered the innovator edition?

The title doesn't say innovators edition but the description does say that it is, is it?
It appears to be, but the focus dial has more range on the version Best Buy sells. I have had both the launch version from Samsung and the BB one sold.
