Funny story about a Greek girl and her very Greek family and how she challenged long held cultural beliefs to carve out a wonderful future for herself and her new family! Lots of laughs, a few tears, wonderful insight into the deep abiding affections of a close knit family!

The movie is easier to follow if you have previously read the novel but it stands on its own merits. It is a little confusing with the shifts between past, present and future but that is the beauty of watching with attention to detail. One soul moving through the centuries living different lives - reincarnation theory aside - it was an enjoyable, well made film.

Set in the magnificent Alaskan wilderness, there is enough representative violence to make it a real and believable survival adventure without being overpowering. Wonderful tale of a boy's love for his father, his fight to achieve his father's dream and a beautiful wolf he befriends. We get to share Jack's challenges, failures and triumphs as he grows into manhood. Good film and delivers a great message, too!

Anthony Hopkins adds drama and depth as Odin. Chris Hemsworth as Thor is a natural for a Norse god and we get to know his "human" side in this film. Natalie Portman's character sometimes seems a little out of touch for someone so intelligent but there is no doubt she loves Thor. Tom Hiddleston as Loki - well you just love to hate him but he does reveal a more vulnerable side despite his duplicity. There was more humor this time around to offset the darkness but the antics of Stellan Skarsgard were a little over the top. Loved this one as much as the first one!
