Sublimely enjoyable; too clever by half.

Sennheiser’s SPORT True Wireless In-Ear headphones deliver an elevated, completely enjoyable listening experience.
QUICK COMMENTS: I really love the sound.
The Sennheiser - SPORT True Wireless plays so much better than the modest price might suggest.
They are not easy to get up and running using their App, but they become trouble-free quickly.
The FOCUS and AWARE MODES may be more trouble than helpful for those who lack patience.
My first impression was made in the AWARE MODE using an ear adapter designed for that purpose. It was completely satisfactory in every way. My second impression was made using the FOCUS MODE using an ear adapter designed for that purpose. Also completely satisfactory. I’ll sort out the variables in the App controls and ear adapters later on, but I found it easy to accommodate to either MODE and being forced to choose one or the other was a fool’s errand. I really liked the sound whether I chose the AWARE or FOCUS approach. Sennheiser’s sound engineering is first rate.

SETUP: [renamed the HURDLE] Download the Sennheiser Smart Control. It’s here that you receive guidance for adding a device to the App so you can customize the sound, choose which listening MODE you prefer to use, and manage a 3-band equalizer. At least according to the instructions, you start with the App to initiate the Bluetooth connections. Or, maybe you begin with the phone Bluetooth connections. I’m not going to be any help, dear reader. It took me just short of an hour to connect. I fussed and fumed connecting, disconnecting, connecting without actual sound coming out, and then disconnecting and stripping away the device from the App and starting over. I’d offer guidance, but I’m not sure what I did that succeeded. I got it working and it has been trouble free, so maybe it was just me. Check out other reviews for comparison.
PERFORMANCE: In combination with two distinct Ear tips (adapters), a MODE option lets you choose between passively reducing ambient sound around you, or do the exact opposite … increase the amount of environmental sounds that you hear. It definitely works. I found the passive sound reduction was pretty decent considering this is not active noise reduction. The increased ambient sound from the AWARE mode was less obvious, but there was certainly a noticeable difference between the two MODES. Selecting those MODES in the App appears to alter the EQ setting to compensate for the changed ear tips and how they contour the sound. It’s harder to describe than it is to accomplish.
SUMMARY: Using either MODE and the appropriate ear tip, the underlying Sennheiser sound is maintained. Sennheiser sound is detailed, accurate and natural. I listened to a broad mix of music and the Sennheisers continued to surprise with their ability to present a lively and realistic performance. The music was never harsh. I found the bass to be solid, but not over-baked. Some bass heads might be disappointed. For me, it is so easy to listen to these SPORTs for hours. These In-Ear headphones are somewhat larger than I’ve become accustomed. However, the light weight, various sized ear tips, soft edges of the headphones, and that selection of wings all contribute to a headphone that’s easy to wear for a lengthy stretch of time, and a good workout. All this adds up to a great True Wireless In-Ear Headphone… sport enthusiast or not.

GE Café Couture Smart Toaster Oven with Air Fry - Stainless Steel
If your objective is to have the appearance of a gourmet, professional-looking kitchen, you’ve arrived. There can be no doubt with this stunning appliance sitting on a counter. After using the GE Café Couture for a good number of meal preparations, we know that this isn’t just about good looks. The Café thankfully also has a whole lot of features, functions and exceptional performance. There’s a lot to like here.
If your objective is to have the appearance of a gourmet, professional-looking kitchen, you’ve arrived. There can be no doubt with this stunning appliance sitting on a counter. After using the GE Café Couture for a good number of meal preparations, we know that this isn’t just about good looks. The Café thankfully also has a whole lot of features, functions and exceptional performance. There’s a lot to like here.
SETUP and OPERATION: We prefer to plug in any of our newest appliances and be cooking in mere seconds. And so we did. This GE Café is thoughtfully intuitive. We turned the MODE DIAL and across the bright and easily read LED screen we could select from Air Fry, Bake, Broil, Roast, Toast, Bagel, Frozen Pizza, Cookies, Proof, Dehydrate, Slow Cook, Reheat, Keep Warm, and CrispFinish. Select your MODE. We chose BAKE, initially. Press the TEMP/TIME dial to toggle between each control. Once selected, turning the dial is either modifying the TIME or TEMPERATURE. So very easy. Adding a crispy finish, or melting cheese, etc is as easy as pressing the CRISP FINISH button (Lower right corner of DISPLAY.)
The instructions, if you want details and guidance, are very well done with easily read, easily visible text size. (The COOKING MODES TABLE is too useful not to enlarge, laminate, and provide as the backside of a cook’s QUICK START). I’ll do that myself. (… but, think about it, GE.)
There is a large cooking cavity heated with 6 halogen cooking tubes and the actual oven is pretty large. As you can see from my pictures, it looks right at home on any kitchen counter, but GE discourages placing this toaster oven under typical kitchen top cabinets with less than 4" clearance or on top of a surface that isn’t heat resistant. (“Ensure the oven has at least 4" (10cm) of clearance on all sides.”)

There is a SmartHQ app which enable control some useful features using your phone connected to Wi-Fi or Google and Alexa. When connected to a WiFi network, you can adjust oven temperature, add or reduce cooking time, and/or stop a cooking cycle. While there is a way to START cooking remotely, I’m going to advise, don’t. [I started the process of setting up an account, getting verified, and ran out of patience at the “enter the oven password.” Wow. My bank is less secure. I’ll come back and finish.
PERFORMANCE:
1- We needed to warm up some frozen rolls and microwaving is awful for this task. Getting quickly to a BAKE mode yielded a nicely warmed roll, ready for my tuna sandwich. I was tempted to add cheese and CRISP FINISH, but maybe next time.
2- Toasting another sliced-in-half roll resulted in nicely colored, evenly toasted halves. Perfect. We do that regularly, as you can see in the BAGEL TOAST picture.
3- Dinner tonight was bone-in pork chops. I prefer to start in a cast iron pan for a few minutes each side to seal in the juices. The GE Cafe was pre-heating to 375 degrees and was ready to finish my chops, which needed an 8 minutes bake or roasting to complete. Super well cooked, and no need to heat up our full-size oven. There has to be some energy savings here. We use the same technique on swordfish and tenderloin and this oven will make finishing them easier, with less energy.
4- French fries are the go-to test for the Air-Fryer. The AIR FRYER uses the built in fan and operates at a noise level of only 53dB. This is a quiet Air Fryer. You won’t be waking the baby with this one. Oh, and the fries were great.
5- Our test pizza was a dairy-free, high veggie count (artichoke/chicken/bacon) freshly made (uncooked) 12” specimen from a popular chain. This is a challenge for a home oven because it is wet, dense, and cooking needs vary from top to bottom. We followed the same directions as always, using the BAKE mode. 425 degrees, but a shorter than usual 16 minutes. We added 60 seconds CRISP at the very end. The results were perfect. We required probably 4 minutes less time than usual in our standard oven but this was a more even result with less fussing. This really worked out better and easier than we thought.
6- Compared to our previous Air Fryers there is an obvious difference related the size of the GE Café. This extra capacity allows for a broader, larger, repertoire of foods and meal sizes the can be prepared. And, as expected, some cooking speed is sacrificed. But very little. The convection fan is a great leveler.
7- I know there will comments about a rotisserie. Not from us. It’s a feature that invites reliability issues. More practically, we really don’t want to buy the smaller chickens necessary to use such a feature and we certainly hate the cleanup. It’s just our opinion.
8- The SmartHQ app is nice to have. Will we use it? We find cooking to be a hands-on experience. What makes the GE Café so much fun is the flexibility and intuitive changes-on-the-fly it offers and the big viewing window. While the App offers all that flexibility at a distance (even if from a patio or TV room 20 feet away) it frustrates the senses. So, unless GE is going to add a video camera to the cooking cavity, we won’t be using the App.

SUMMARY: It would be silly to claim you have to spend this much money to achieve a high level of cooking performance. There are a number of really competent air fryer/ovens for your purchasing dollars. (We’ve owned a few). The GE Café Couture Smart Toaster Oven with Air Fry brings something special into your kitchen. It’s a whole ‘nother step above premium build quality and fun to show off. It could become the star of the kitchen (if we didn’t have a full size Monogram oven pair further down the counter). Performance must be perfection at this price and from we’ve witnessed, it sure is. Evenness of toasting is spot on. Convection (and related Air Frying) cooking is fast, predictable, repeatable and QUIET. The CRISP FINISH works great to get that extra brown crust on crab cakes or steaks frozen treats. It finishes off a pizza for picture perfect presentation. In our kitchen, the toaster over, air fryer combination is far and away the most used appliance. It has supplanted the microwave and cooktop. It had better do it all, and do it perfectly. We feel good about the GE Café Couture Smart Toaster Oven being in our kitchen. We recommend it highly.

Breaking the (Size and) Sound Barrier

What I hear doesn’t match what I see. We expect Soundbars to create a movie theater experience and we imagine larger cabinets are required, Or maybe a subwoofer. This SONOS Soundbar breaks a lot of expectations. And I’m won over. The sound is gorgeous.
I’m still a fairly novice user in the world of SONOS, so, it’s not just the sound quality that still surprises me. As I dived into the features, and the sound quality and watched the interplay of this new SONOS device with my music sources I was reminded why SONOS appeals to even non-techies. Everything is slickly accomplished and I won’t need to break a sweat to get great results.
SETUP: New to SONOS? Download the App for your phone. Set up an account. Link to your Internet, either ethernet wired or Wi-Fi. and go back into the App. The App usually finds the nearby SONOS device without prompting, but if it’s not there you can select ADD DEVICE, and you’re on the way to adding your online music streaming services, naming the room this unit is in, attaching the TV via OPTICAL DIGITAL, only, and that’s pretty much it.
Current user? I only had to open the SONOS App after plugging in the SONOS Ray, and the prompt was there in my existing App, asking if I wanted to add the Ray.. I was playing music within a few minutes. Absurdly easy.
PERFORMANCE: It’s easy to forget that functional controls are also on top of the SONOS Ray device. Most of the time, if you’re using your TV - to - Soundbar connection, everything happens automatically using the TV controls. There is some effort required here. Be sure pull out your TV instructions or look them up online. You’ll want to turn off your TV speakers in favor of this SONOS. If your TV allows it, you may be able to use the TV remote to control the volume. If not, there is the SONOS App or those controls on top of the Ray. For music from your streaming devices (phone, Tablet, computer), you’ll be using the SONOS App. It all becomes second nature.
The sound? Shockingly good. It pretty easy these days to get good bass from a speaker. Or maybe you can get that voice range well enough to hear voices clearly. Or perhaps you just want volume to fill your space. It is very rare to have such a reasonably priced speaker of this size get it ALL so right. I started with music and was impressed by how the speaker could rock out anything in my Apple Music library. With the SONOS App connected to Pandora, or Spotify or my computer’s music collection, it was easy to call up anything, and everything sounded great. Moving on to movies, I played some Netflix and HBOMAX series, and voices were perfect. Sound effects were realistic. What couldn’t the SONOS do? Surround effects flattened out to the front soundstage, but SONOS has a solution with they surround speakers which can be added to expand on this setup. They even have a subwoofer that can be attached. The SONOS Port allows you to add your own equipment to the SONOS sound ecosystem, but it’s not inexpensive.
SUMMARY: SONOS is one of those fun companies that defies expectations and breaks rules. Ignore the size of the SONOS Ray. Its size will confuse you. It plays so much bigger. It sounds so much more natural and unstrained than you’d expect. I’m not suggesting this is appropriate for a large open space with high ceilings to provide party music or theater-level sound reproduction. But any reasonable living room, family, bedroom or home office is a perfect match. When you consider the comprehensive controls and connectivity features in the App, this is such an easy recommendation.

Adjusting my attitude and improving my mood

Aura RGBICWW Smart Table Lamp - GOVEE
Govee’s 21st century table lamp is a mood changer. Although it has a great collection of pre-programmed light scenes, it has a DIY mode that lets me pick my own colors, or draw patterns which are then applied to my light. (I wish there were more complete instructions about this. I’ve got to do some research because it looks great.)

Turn the Govee Aura on with the top panel power button or use the downloaded GOVEE App. After I linked it to my Google Home I could even control its features with the typical voice commands. (It works with ALEXA, too) This is especially useful when using the lamp at your bedside.
From the App I let the Govee Aura pulse to music it “hears” with its built-in mic. Or, instead, I could select from 43 pre-configured light scenarios that ranged from subtle and soothing to more vibrant, hyperactive rhythms. Brightness or color saturation are all easily controlled with the dimmer setting. It’s fun. It works reliably. It adds immensely to a party, an after-dark backyard poolside setting or a romantic dinner. Hey, you can just create a relaxing setting for yourself after a long day. The App lets me create a schedule, so I don’t have to think when I’m suffering brain drain. Like I said, it’s fun.

Accessible Mesh WiFi for (non-techie) Everyone

Motorola - AX1800 Mesh WiFi Router/Extender - 3 pack.
The team that developed the Motorola AX1800 setup and install instructions actually had this product in their hands and followed their own procedures before they shipped the product out to end users. My evidence? It all worked. Easily. Reliably. Without missteps. That’s not typical, in my experience. And it adds to my score for this Motorola Mesh Wi-Fi 6 system. I’ll summarize my experience at the end, but the Motorola is a very reasonably priced mesh WiFi system for a typical home. It truly leaves you feeling you’ve entered the world of advanced networking in your own home. I’ve got some complaints, too, but they’re related to advanced uses.

SETUP: Create an account in the Minim App (downloaded from App store) for your phone (I used an iPhone). The step by step instructions have you select and scan any one of the bowl-sized and shaped routers/nodes. From there, the instructions provide a foolproof series of illustrated phone screens. They culminate in a network that can be distributed across several rooms in my home. LEDs on the nodes matched the illustrations and confirmed my efforts were succeeding, The App even provides fairly accurate estimates of the time between my actions and the expected results. There were no unexplained departures from the script. No fuss. I was ready to test my efforts. It’s pretty hard to get lost. That said, a product that will appeal to naive networking users could/should do so much more handholding, defining, explaining, illustrating. If this router can’t do some things of interest to a subset off users, own up!
PERFORMANCE: I connected to the newly established network quickly and with consistent speeds across my entire 2800sqft house. My house receives 1GB fiber service from Google. I measured speeds on my newly created Motorola MH7603 Mesh Wi-Fi 6 network using the App SPEED TEST, using 2.4GHz band:

I’m satisfied with these speeds, but I know from my research they aren’t the fastest available. But the average user is probably more like me. I’m not interested in most of that. I’m more interested in those more automated settings that sit on the Home Filter page: Security blocking, Ad Blocking and Adult Website Blocking controls. Everything else requires a deeper technical skill set which we aren’t about to achieve from Youtube “university”. Oh, and speaking of videos, all my streaming services easily display 4K, Dolby Vision, ATMOS sound without a hiccup. Various other Wi-Fi devices such as cameras and phones all connected easily to my new network. That’s what I’m talking about! The Motorola gets it done.

NEGATIVES: Bare bones settings management. Instructions don’t cover anything outside of simple installation. Using the App’s full feature set requires end user (you) acceptance of significant data sharing and there are two companies in the mix. Couldn’t see any way to configure Bridge Mode. [Bridge mode enables two routers to share one Wi-Fi network.] Can’t find any info on wired back-haul. No easy way to hang these on a wall. And most frustrating, don’t bother looking for a more elaborate user manual.
SUMMARY: As my few days of using the Motorola AX 1800 demonstrated, the Motorola is fairly fast, has a useful, if not complete set of features, and reaches distances that compete with the best Mesh networking products. It is everything the average non-technical person wants. It is up and running within the hour, creates a completely useful and accessible network with no fuss, and it solves the problem of blanketing a home with Wi-Fi. It even has useful and easily accessible security and content protection tools using the MINIM App on our phones. My biggest caveat concerns the technical depth of features and guidance: While I agree with the adage, “Less is more”, sometimes “less is just too little.” Still, there's a lot to like about this Mesh Wi-Fi system from Motorola. And the price is great.

There should be no doubt that there is a battle for the top ranking in the category of noise-cancelling, audiophile level headphones. And, Sony puts serious effort into achieving that top spot. Sony’s best, this WH-1000XM5, is a work of technical excellence as well as sublime comfort and isolation from the world around you. Sound accuracy excels, and is infinitely modifiable via the constantly evolving SONY CONNECT APP. I’m going to describe the more special features from an end-user perspective and comment on my impressions regarding sound. The quick take: Wow. This is an exaltation of music against a backdrop of silence. These may well be the best noise-cancelling headphones this year and for a few years more.

Before I begin, however, I’d like to acknowledge another role my Sony headphones have played in the life of my music-loving family. My family is delighted when I get my newest Sony headphones. You see, I hand my previous versions down to my adult children or their children. In fact, I see my oldest (decades old) Sony headphones being used by my talented piano playing granddaughter, as she practices her lessons. It’s her favorite way to practice, plugged into her electric piano. Like this current iteration, every Sony headphone becomes an instant classic and a desirable gift that keeps delivering beautiful music for generations. There are few of my indulgences that have had such a wonderful impact on my family.
STAND-OUT FEATURES; WHY DO I CARE? and HOW DO THEY PERFORM?
• Bluetooth 5.0, provides simultaneous connection to two devices. With minimal effort, I can switch between my iPhones and my Mac laptop.. The Sony supports SBC, AAC and LDAC codecs; reception range extending up to 30 feet.
• SPECIAL NOTE: It’s very easy to use the Bluetooth “2nd device” feature to connect to a Sony Bravia XR series TV. I can now find these headphones listed as an audio selection on my TV after connecting via Bluetooth. Selecting the 1000XM5 results in a personal, high quality sound system that is simply wonderful. Volume is controlled via TV volume or at the headphones (or App).
• Sony WH-1000XM4 noise-canceling utilizes 8 microphones to broaden the range of environmental sounds which are reduced (or enhanced if desired). Control for noise reduction is centered in the App but includes automated features that optimize sound cancellation depending on where I am. Noise reduction is as good as anything I’ve ever witnessed. I had practically a rock concert playing in the background of this same room where I was testing this feature. In fact, I was forced to pull away from my ear at least one ear cup to determine exactly how loud the background system was playing, or if it was even still on. The Sony’s were successfully blocking EVERYTHING in the environment. It was an amazing noise cancellation performance. Droning, noisey equipment sounds (air conditioner, lawnmowers) never had a chance to break through.
• During calls, 4 beam-forming microphones are calibrated to only pick up your voice even if there’s significant background noise. As you start your conversation, “Speak-to-Chat” automatically stops your music and mixes in ambient sound so the conversation is more natural even with the headphones remaining in place. All my calls are easily understood.
• Edge-AI (Artificial Intelligence), DSEE Extreme™ upscales compressed digital music files in real time. Dynamically recognizing instrumentation, musical genres and individual elements of each song, it restores high range sound lost in compression. I leave this on, but to be frank, everything just sounds greatly anyway.
• Battery life is said to extend to 30 hours (I’m testing). Keep in mind that these headphones are wireless …. but only until you use that double ended headphone jack to plug into your computer or AV equipment. Listening doesn’t have to end because this wired use does not require battery power.
• The case is an all new design, super compact, rugged, and contains the wire accessories safely and securely.

I flipped to the EQUALIZER page in the App, tapped the CLEAR BASS icon, and used the SLIDER just below the equalizer controls to dial back the base until it sounded more normal to my ears. I had another 5 bands of equalization to modify (MANUAL MODE) or I could select from some already customized sound contours. I chose not to change anything else. Your ability to modify, correct, distort and emphasize music or other programming is virtually unlimited. The simple fact is, the SONYs provide an underlying accuracy, delicacy, and expanded frequency range that gives us end users an unhindered platform to build on or subtract from. We’re in charge.

These are special sounding headphones, as detailed and natural as anything I’ve ever owned. I sampled Apple Music’s acoustic collection, modern and classics. I was especially interested in re-mastered Lossless versions of Beatles, Doors, Love and other artists from the 60s. I jumped forward in time to recent Justin Timberlake, Bruno Mars, Billie Eilish, and Charli XCX. Everything was a joyful presentation of detail, rhythm and dynamics. Every minute playing music, or listening to high quality TV programming, with the Sony WH-1000XM5 feels like the first time I’m hearing this music or programming. I have too much music and programming to explore, so I’m cutting off this review here. I can easily recommend these headphone. They’ll eventually, inevitably filter down to a family member who will love them as much as I do today.

Yeah, it was only a few years ago when I declared I would never consider buying a mattress online. So, this is our first mattress purchase, sight unseen. I wish I’d taken pictures of the process, but it’s more fun to describe with words.
UNPACKING: Our queen-size 12” plush hybrid mattress looked more like a giant, flattened, folded pancake encased in a sealed plastic sleeve as it came out of its rugged box. Use the cutting tool provided by Simmons because it protects the mattress while it easily slices the tough plastic protective material. Once we’d cut away the plastic, the mattress unfolded and began to fill out like a butterfly after exiting its chrysalis. All this took only 20 minutes until the now, mostly inflated, mattress looked like its name.
DESIGN and our SLEEP EXPERIENCE: Serta’s Simmons 12" Plush Hybrid Mattress is an attractive, well built bed, with a rich feel as you lay on top of it. The layer of foam has a unique but effective combination of density and temperature-sensitive body contouring. It has all the expected features of memory foam, although a bit slower to respond to our bodies. My body melted a limited amount into the mattress, and felt that special memory foam support in all the right places. All this soft comfort rests on top of a layer of large, individually wrapped coils that contribute some isolation from my partner’s movements. In addition, the spring layer offers the … well … springiness that makes a mattress less leaden feeling and more fun.

ODORS: [Perhaps from manufacturing or outgassing.] Develops to its highest level within 24 hours; dissipates in a few days. Placing a carbon-filtered air purifier in the room speeds things up, or just open a window. Some people will not be as forgiving of the odors as we are.
FIRMNESS: Initial minutes each night, Firm to Very Firm. After 15-30 minutes, bed appears to be more medium to firm. Body heat helps. As a back sleeper I noticed increasing support in my lumbar region as my body settled into the foam a bit. It was not excessive settling.
HOT/COOL sensation: My wife and I have quite opposite needs related to temperature management and sensitivity. I found the mattress to be perfectly warm for my needs. My wife had her usual too warm/too cool concerns. These differences are often addressed with the right choice in mattress toppers.
PARTNER MOVEMENT: “A distant rumble.” We’re aware of each other’s movements, but it seems somewhat distant and not annoying.

RECOMMENDED. Yes, this Serta - Simmons Plush Hybrid mattress is easy to recommend. Mattress comfort is too subjective for me to confidently claim YOU ought to buy this bed and you will feel the same way as we do. But, comparing this mattress to several much more expensive mattresses we’ve owned over several decades underscores just how much of a good value this one is. It is a very comfortable bed.

My wife did all the testing and commentary for this Luna Mini 2, and she really loved it. [from Mrs. Techbeengood] “Foreo’s Luna facial massager and cleanser is how I’ll be ending each and every day from now on. I’ve always had my ritual cleaning every night that I never ever skip. It’s important if I want to maintain healthy skin and avoid blemishes. The Luna Mini takes it to another level. Hundreds of tiny, silicon fingers vibrate at any of eight different speeds. There are three silicon tip types. One side of the Luna Mini 2 has very fine, densely packed touch points over most of its surface, ending with wider spacing at the tip. The other side of the massager has broader touch points for a stronger cleaning event. So many tiny fingers cleaning and massaging
The entire experience is gentle, and in fact it feels like I’m receiving a facial massage. And it only took a few minutes, with Foreo doing all the work. After just the first use my pores were noticeably smaller. My skin felt very soft and my skin coloring was evenly toned. It’s wonderful!
In the every pretty packaging, Foreo includes their own micro-foam cleanser. The cleanser its very creamy and and has luxurious feel. I’ll be looking to buy replacement tubes of this product. It was yet another surprise. Nice.
In addition Foreo provides a USB-C cable, but no power brick. The device fits into the hand quite comfortably. (4.8” x 1.8 x 3.6”). A single charge is specified to provide 300 uses or approx 5 months between charges. So, it makes sense to not leave the Luna Mini 2 plugged into your bathroom outlet permanently.

The average person touches their phone 2,617 times per day, transferring germs to it with each touch. It’s a bacteria and virus toaster!!

Simplehuman’s Cleanstation phone sanitizer has a design that subscribes to the “form-follows-function” rule. It looks like a fancy toaster and functions mechanically much like a toaster operates. Simply drop your phone into the amply sized slot at the top of this brightly chromed device and contaminants are cooked. Well, not quite cooked, but the effect is similar.
Our personal phones have generic clear plastic cases which were easily accommodated by the slot opening. The phone eases downwards until it disappears. A light that rings the top of the Cleanstation lets you know it’s operating. The process takes about 30 seconds, and should result in a thorough sterilization of the entire phone (or case) surface. Of course, we also regularly run an alcohol swab along our phone surfaces, because accumulated grime gives germs a place to hide. In the microscopic environments that bacteria and viruses live, grime and dirt offer hiding places. The Cleanstation isn’t a cleaning device but rather a sterilization chamber.
If my toaster analogy seems odd, it’s useful to know that the FDA suggests that consumers might sterilize surfaces in the home using UVC (ultraviolet-C) lamps, such as the type of energy emitted within the Cleanstation. This disinfecting light has been found to reduce the spread of bacteria as well as causing the inactivation of viruses. I don’t feel a need to challenge the science behind UVC light effectiveness and I expect someone in a lab somewhere will test out the effectiveness of this particular device.
For my family, we’re happy to have a helpful decontamination tool in the age of COVID. Setting it near our bathroom sink reminds us to clean our phones regularly. Wanting to clean our phones reminds us to wash our hands more frequently. It’s a win-win.
It also comes in white or slate stainless but it’s the inside where the sterilizing action occurs. Recommended.

Lenova Chromebooks are bought by people who love the simplicity of a system that requires minimal management and maintenance. After you use this Lenova Flex for awhile you realize that being lean in the memory and storage department is not a problem, because your work lives on the Internet and is readily accessible and secure. Even with no Wi-Fi, recent or archived documents such as spreadsheets, presentations and emails are readily available with offline access. Just download them prior to a presentation or work session. And this small computer is so convenient to carry around and put to work or play.
A vast number of compatible android Apps available on Chromebooks match up with most Apps you’ll find on a Mac or an Intel-based PC. Sometimes work I’m sharing with my Mac or Intel-based PCs will involve a slightly different App on my Chromebook. That said, I can’t ever remember not having the ability to work in all 3 computer environments fairly easily. [This, of course, excludes unique or proprietary software designed for a special purpose on one of these platforms.]
Having most software accessible via the keypad, or by directly touching the screen or even an accessory mouse (not included) makes it all more useful. I can use the keyboard for extended text entry or pretend it’s a phone or tablet and enter or select screen items using the touch screen. I love having every possible input method available to me.
ERGONOMICS: The Lenova Chromebook Flex 3 lets me work the way I want, in tablet mode, in laptop mode or as a display device. Control is equally flexible. Keyboard, fingertip strokes and taps directly on the screen or a compatible pen or mouse (neither are included). The screen is very bright, contrasty, and colorful. The keyboard doesn’t have a backlight, but I didn’t find that to be much of an issue. It had minimal key travel, but it always responded reliably. I easily got sufficient battery life to watch my baseball playoff games without need for a recharge.

FLEXIBILITY: This is a great mix of portability and useful features. For work purposes I have spreadsheet, writing and photo apps which exchange files with my Mac. When I want entertainment I have access to my YouTubeTv, sports and music apps. And the screen is sufficiently colorful and the speakers or headphone access is perfectly capable of delivering a rich experience.
SUMMARY: Lenova’s Flex3 is a great example of Chromebook’s simple, efficient and capable system. Lenova lets you transform its laptop into a tablet to ensure you’re working the way you prefer. And, because this is Google’s android software, the Lenova thinks it’s a Google Display when you give it verbatim commands. “Hey Google, turn on my globe light” controls that distant light via a nearby google device ….. as you sit on your back porch. Very cool.

My experience has been quite good. This was a purely indulgent purchase. We come from a generation when you never want to run out of food or miss an opportunity during store food specials. This LG ends those fears. It simply soaks up frozen and refigerated foods. We love the open cabinet space and various door and specialty spaces.
I've placed calibrated thermometers in multiple locations in the frdge. It took almost 3 days for the temps to settle down, but now they are within a 4 degree range of the settings. (The LG does NOT show the temp, ONLY the settings. You must use your own thermometer.) The door space in my unit is only a couple of degrees higher, and only during periods of use. The drawers are usually colder than the open space of the fridge. My situation may be unique.
The low noise level is especially welcome. We loved our previous Maytag, but this is another level of quiet. We wondered about the extra depth, but the approx. 2" are not an issue for us. Tighter kitchens may present a problem.
I also called customer service with LG during the 1st 48 hours to understand why the fridge was taking so long to reach the settings. There is a language issue. The pleasant person on the phone struggled with anything other than the simplest presentation of facts, had no appreciation for humor, and was fairly quick to over-react to criticism. Her attachment to the script was frustrating. Most importantly, telling a customer that it's perfectly fine and normal for the temp setting to be 37 and the actual temp to be 42 is wrong. She did not understand that the "setting" is NOT the actual temperature. She then fussed around and helped me cycle through the demo/operational settings which may or may not have helped. The temperature did settle in another 24 hours nad has been perfect for weeks. Customer service needs some work..
I should also add that this purchase was originally made at another long-time national retailer who utterly failed to complete the delivery due to incompetence. Best Buy/Pacific handled sale and delivery with wonderful professionalism.

I would probably lower the score by 1/2 star after several months of use. You may feel differently. . . . That cute middle slide drawer in the freezer needs a redesign. It occasionally pops out of its track with very little effort. It does not pop back in quite so easily. We've not yet figured out what we've done wrong but with unusual caution and we can avoid the problem. Busier families with kids will not be so fortunate. It'll be an aggravation.

Set up took less than 10 minutes, but I don’t have many of the partner products (NEST, Philips Hue, SmartThings, IF) that Google Home operates with right out of the box. But Google Home has a nice bag of tricks with which to work. With the right Chromecast enabled speakers, you can apparently get the house rocking relying on Pandora, Spotify, Google Play, Youtube Music, or Tunein to provide the tunes.
Both my wife an I are getting a kick out of challenging Google to provide weather reports, news updates, or filling in our grocery list (using Google Keep). It’ll do a very accurate job of answering trivia questions and has no trouble deciphering our voice commands. It could provide the names of local restaurants and addresses, but couldn’t schedule a table for us. It could list where movies were playing, but not when. Google Home easily picked out our voices over a playing TV and was quick to respond. It wasn’t ready with TV schedules, however . . yet.
For me, the real excitement begins if/when Google operates my Logitech Harmony Theater system hubs, my HomeBrite Devices, or maybe lets us order from some online stores. I have no trouble recommending the Google Home device, but I’m also expecting ti to expand its partner list. These are wonderfully useful gadgets, but they rely on Google to play nicely with a variety of other products that I want to control.

I discovered an aggravation in recent days with my Google Home. if you've set up a roaming or extended network in your home, there is a potential problem. (Others with a simple, single router, network can stop reading.) At some point, typically after moving your Google Home or manually quitting then restarting WiFI, you may discover Google Home can't connect to your network. Huh? You've got it extended everywhere in your house and you have a problem ONLY with Google Home? Seems silly. Well, Google Home wants to see your original setup device (phone/tablet) on the same BRANCH of your network. Anything else creates a crisis. Start over, be sure to find the Google device with your setup App on your phone/tablet, and re-establish the connection. Be patient, it will reconnect.

I WILL volunteer to vacuum. Of course, I haven’t developed my wife’s skills or strategies for coping with our home’s diverse floor landscape. All those transitions to wood, tile, various carpet types and back again, through a forest of chair legs, blind hallways, low hanging sofas, beds and chairs, and scattered debris, most of it mine. I’m a work in progress. Which brings us to this iRobot Roomba 890. Kudos to the teams of skilled designers, engineers, of focus groups who built and tested a robot that so successfully accomplishes that which has confounded me for so many years. My wife, our specialist, will have the final judgment on the Roomba.
Setup requires a minimal amount of planning. The Roomba’s charging station needs to be located where the Roomba can find it, be plugged in and docked. At this point, after a few hours to fully charge, you have a working automated, intelligent vacuum. Hate technology? Don’t need it. Press the CLEAN button (x2) whenever you’re ready to vacuum. For me, it’s as I’m heading out the door. And I love technology, just not vacuuming tech. Most others will want to take advantage of the Roomba’s ability to schedule vacuuming sessions, get notifications, and monitor cleaning cycles from the app. Once it’s on your home Wi-Fi, a connected Roomba will work with Amazon’s Alexa.
I’m not going to detail the Wi-Fi connection process. It’s not that it’s lengthy but it requires your close attention to details. My efforts required some restarts, but then, I’m notorious for trying everything first with minimal scanning of the instructions. Don’t try that with the Roomba. Also, you may be jolted by the “unsecured network message” (on the iPhone), but that only indicates a temporary setup condition while configuring the nearby Roomba. Roomba’s online support provides easy-to-follow help if you get into trouble. Don’t be reluctant to reset or restart, as this solved all my issues.
How does this Roomba 890 work? Navigation is effective, as it deals with obstacles, drops, rises, and transitions without problems. Watching the Roomba negotiate my tangle of wires, sneak under our low sofas (low even for our manual upright), and easily climb over our various throw and area carpets is impressive. In places we were sure it would get stuck, it either solved the predicament or avoided it. The combination of sensors, thoughtfully designed rollers and spinners, and logic makes these Roombas special. Oh, and it is surprisingly quiet. We didn’t have to adjust the TV volume, even as it maneuvered around our chairs. At just shy of 90 minutes it found its way back to the charging dock.
My wife’s evaluation? She’s quite willing to leave our home in the tireless, relentless, fastidious care of our new robotic housecleaner. The iRobot Roomba 890 is pretty competent. I think you know my feelings.

Well, now you've got me wondering if I was sloppy in my review. So, I ran another test today, several weeks after my initial posting. I set my Roomba off on its task by double-clicking the CLEAN button. Set my stopwatch . . . and . . . you can almost set a clock by my Roomba. On my iPhone I got 1:29:10.25 (89 minutes) of vacuuming. Yes, I have 85% hardwood floors (with several large oriental rugs), tile in the bathrooms, and the remainder in a carpeted bedroom. And I do hear the motor working a bit harder on carpet. Your experience will certainly differ, but I'm confident you'll get well past an hour.

What is the sound decible? I have sensory issues and your BC vacuums tend to be extremely loud
Sound level for our vacuums is a pet peeve of mine, so I make it a point of measuring. With my uncalibrated iPhone App I measure my house on a typical day at 44dB. We're quiet. This vac kicks the noise up to 75-77dB from a yard or two away. The pitch, overall, is not too bad, except for a bit lower volume, higher frequency sound I find annoying. This isn't a quiet vac. Ask the BB store support to fire one up for you. I should note that various vacs of the same model might have differing volumes and pitches.

The instructions on Page 5 of the instructions (item 17) say to only place the drip pan on the oven floor, under the heating elements. This is in direct conflict with the diagram on page 8, where the drip tray is drawn so that it is clearly on the first pair of guides (runners) ABOVE the heating elements, and not on the oven floor. The fact is, it will not sit on my upper guides. It only rests on the oven floor.

Can you use Swiffer Dry and Wet Jet Pads on this like the Braava 300?
The m6 appears to sense the unique hole pattern on the mounting plate of each pad type to identify the dry or wet pads and perform tasks accordingly. If I'm correct, it seems unlikely that a generic pad will work properly.

We have a pretty big open floor plan and own a roomba i series that empties itself. The only thing holding me back on purchasing the mop is if there is a mechanism where it goes back to its station and can refill with water or does it stop when out?
Our m6 heads back to its dock and the App indicates that it needs a refill. The mop is a bit more hands-on that the vacs.
