Nice, Precise, Easy to Use

Philips Norelco Electric Shaver 5750, Wet & Dry
It’s been a few years since I’ve used a floating head Norelco. This shaver represented a nice reunion. Still comfortable and smooth. The feel in your hand is always a bit different from other shavers, because of the missing vibration. These spinning blades don’t provide the hand massage you get with other shavers, and its tempting to think it has less power because it’s so quiet. But, it is fast and close. You probably really don’t need turbo, and yet there is no reason not to use it. Go crazy. It’s unlikely to burn, because the floating design (overall mount and cutting heads) flexes as it crosses over your chin or cheek. If you haven’t used a wet/dry shaver in the shower, you’re gonna be pleasantly surprised. This shaver is ready for a sudsy, wet face under a shower. It allows you to get a closer shaver in complete comfort.
I had mixed feelings about the swappable heads/trimmer, but if it means we get a dedicated trimmer design, I’m OK. This wet/dry shaver will not operate while charging, preventing any effort to use it while in the shower/tub. Don’t try, and you can’t. This package includes a cleaning accessory, and this design allows the shaver to charge while being cleaned. This is a very nice, precise, easy to use shaver.

Quick and Consistent Countertop Chopping
on October 16, 2017

from Austin
We tried to put our countertop on a diet. Then we started using this Philips Multi-chopper, and found it was in such continuous use, we assigned it a precious counter spot. It’s really a nifty design. The clear receiving cup can be configured to accept just the chopper blade. Place the black cap that aligns the blade, and go. Place the motor assembly on top of the cup and press down. The chopper yields VERY small bits, just larger than a mince. If instead you want a slightly larger sized product, swap out the chopper, and swap in the multi-chopper. Place the multi-chopper blade first into the basket, and place both into the clear cup. We use it to prep carrots, onions, peppers and some other veggies for our salads. The multi-chopper with the basket yields a consistently sized, 1/4” or so small sized pieces.
You know that pained look you get when you ask someone to “prep the veggies, and the smaller the better”? It’s a thing of the past. And the time it takes is seconds, not 10-15 minutes. Even adding the cleanup, the Multi Chopper is much faster than most of us. Because the motor assembly has no contact with food, it needs no more than a wipe down. The Philips Multi Chopper is a nice addition to our kitchen gadgets.

Why did we wait so long?

Brydge Bluetooth keyboard for iPad Pro -
I’m trying to recall any electronic device I’ve owned that took 90 seconds to get operating. Take the Bridge keyboard out of the box, and slip the iPad Pro (there are several other versions for different models) under the clips. Press the BlueTooth key, upper right of Keyboard. Open iPad SETTINGS, see BRYDGE pairing request, select, and you’re paired. It took longer to write this paragraph.
This is a premium, aluminum, solid, rugged keypad loaded with features and specialty keys. The top row of keys place you right into MacBook Pro land. The control panel items are all laid out, all the time. Plus, you now have backlit keys (on/off), the HOME button, battery key, and keyboard power. The rest of the keyboard is nicely weighted, the keys feel great. Hinging of the attached iPad is secure, staying in place at any angle. There’s even a SIRI button, lower left. It all works like it was designed at the same time. My wife found herself accessing features of her iPad that seemed awkward before. And, the iPad is comfortable sitting in a lap with its keyboard/stand. Cool. All very cool. Not sure why we waited to add a keyboard to our iPads.

Pour wine without removing the cork by using the Coravin Model Two wine system. The durable needle pierces the cork so you can pour, and then the cork reseals when the needle is removed to preserve the remaining wine. This Coravin Model Two wine system comes with two capsules that let you pour up to 30 glasses of wine.

An Extravagantly Essential Wine Accessory
on October 6, 2017
Posted by: TECHBEENGOOD

Can the Coravin Model Two be both deluxe and represent frugality? This is a premium product in both feel and performance. It’s also a bit of an indulgence that elevates the home wine geek’s hobby. But, let’s explore the economic argument. Yes, I’m making the case that the Coravin Model Two is practical, perfectly sensible, and even economical. It’s a bit discouraging wanting to try a variety of wines, or share some favorite wines with friends and family only to have the evening end with so many bottles of wine only minimally sampled. The Coravin allows you to pour out one or two glasses from many bottles, while preserving the quality of remaining wines for later pours, sometimes months later. So, I can yield to my impatience while still preserving a future pleasure.
Everything about the Coravin Model Two is simple and sensibly designed. I’m not a big fan of the pictu-instructions, unless the device is simple and sensible. The Coravin system works reliably and is easy to operate. The bottle clamp feels secure. The needle does no visible damage to the cork and the cork naturally reseals itself for subsequent reuse. The capsule fits into its chamber and keeps the assembly airtight. Coravin provides two argon gas capsules which they say will last 15 or pours, each. Th gas prevents oxidation of the wine. It all works. We tried it and liked it. It would also make a nice gift for the wine geek in your circle of friends.

go-to vacuum for everyday cleanups
on October 5, 2017

BISSELL - MultiReach Bagless Cordless Stick Vacuum (Model: 2151 Let’s agree that the primary reason for a stick vacuum is to make vacuuming convenient and comfortable, but also fast and effective. We’d love to minimize the trade-offs, and maybe get away with owning only one vac. So, I’m going to judge our new Bissell on my requirements.
Convenience: In the box is a dusting brush, a crevice tool, an upholstery tool, an extension wand, and a Multi-Surface Brush Roll. There are built-in LED lights for illuminating dirt or finding your way under furniture. Very nice in dark corners. We liked the attachment process. Enough friction to feel secure, and the snap/retaining ring approach was fast and easy. Even the dirt basket popped off easily and snapped back on without fuss. The head is small enough to get under the lowest furniture and into tight corners. Transitioning from tile, to floor to carpet was trouble-free (despite no floor type settings). Lifting the wand to get at high locations was easier than any other vac we’ve owned.
Wondering how to store this vac? A large garage hook or straight post (into a stud, please) easily supports the vac with or without attachments. The remainder of the attachments can go into a medium sized, heavier duty, plastic bag hung on that same hook.
Comfortable: This is a light vacuum, at under 5 lbs, nicely distributed so it feels even lighter in the hand. It certainly has weight, but the balance reduces the effort. Exchanging attachments requires some tugging on the friction-fit joints, but not excessively.
Loudness at 1 meter: 81 dB (= loud singing). This was an issue for us. The high powered small motor is loud within expectations, but the pitch was also high. You’re gonna want to listen to music, maybe even with noise cancelling headphones. (Our sample may not be typical.)
Runtime: The battery charger for the removable, 22V lithium-ion battery provides up to 20 minutes of suction. We got bored waiting to time out, but 20 minutes seems fair. Lithium batteries make sense for this type of use. Frequent recharges are fine because Lithiums DO NOT suffer from discharge memory. So use the vac, recharge as often as you need, and set aside for the next use.
Emptying: Pop off the dirt chamber. Hold it over your garbage, unlatch, open up, dump. Really easy to do.
Cleaning Effectiveness: Excellent suction allowed the Bissell to clean up dirt and debris without problem. Every attempt at a variety of dirt an dust situations was quickly accomplished. We were encouraged to tackle difficult-to-reach high locations because of the maneuverability of the Bissell.
Bottom line: Not likely to replace our full sized canister vacuum, but very likely to become the go-to vacuum for everyday cleanups. It’s easy and quick to setup and use. And it is effective.

Attractive, Comfortable, Easy to Use Wireless

B&O PLAY by Bang & Olufsen - Beoplay H4 Wireless Over-the-Ear Headphones - Black
I still remember years back, the first time I wandered into a Bang & Olufsen showroom. I thought, if A/V is going to truly succeed in homes, the B&O folks will be a major reason. They make beautiful products that people want to show off . . . and they’re still at it. These H-4 headphones are attractive in black on black, all of the contact areas are soft and rounded, with real leather or genuine metal. You won’t be fussing to make these comfortable because they are both light and soft on the ear. They operate with a rechargeable lithium-ion battery which B&O says should last 19 hours after a 2.5 hour charge. Ergonomically they are easy set up, easy to use, and the controls are simple enough to operate while on the move. They are fast to connect by Bluetooth, and the pairing/power button are centered between multi-purpose buttons for volume and transport control. Three buttons just rear of center on the left earcup do it all. Period. Using them with a phone is easy and reliable. Included in the box are a micro USB port and 3.5mm wire for direct cable connection. Those ports are centered on the bottom side of the same left earcup, helping orient you to the location of the buttons. No carrying case. Ahem. The packaging is simple and attractive.
SUMMARY and OPINON: Can I suggest that there are no perfect headphones? In fact, it’s unlikely we would even agree on what “perfect” would sound like. I’d also like to offer some advice before I review these headphones. Go listen to these headphones for yourself. Would you send someone to pick out eyeglasses or sunglasses for you? My hearing is different, my anatomy is different. Spend extended time (maybe 30 minutes or more) with these headphones. Here’s what I heard:
I start my headphone and speaker testing with human voices because we’re very tuned to what voices should sound like and will recognize colorations readily. Because it was getting late when I unboxed these, I actually plugged them in to listen to late night TV where I could see as well as hear the stage activity. These headphones match my other favorite headphones with very nice range, great stage breadth, and they are pretty accurate. I perceived more activity in the bass (good) but also a bit of bass coloration that sneaks up into the voice range (not as desirable).
The next day I focused again on voices. So a series of female singers (Lady Gaga, Andra Day, Amy Winehouse, and Alison Krauss) all make it clear that the B&O handle highs, even bird whistles, and middle ranges with a very natural balance, taming sibilance (hissing sounds), and reaching well into the upper range . . . naturally. For me, female voices seemed to be a bit more edgy than I’m used to. Male voices (John Legend, Leonard Cohen, Tom Odell, and Gregory Porter) all are richly handled but with a some added heaviness, suggesting that the bass is strong but maybe a bit over-heated. This is usually easy to tame with tone controls. A wide range of music types reveal nothing unusual, nothing emphasized and nothing missing. These match my favorite headphones very closely except of the noted issues.
I prefer WHAT TO ME is more accurate reproduction and this headphone was a near miss . . . for me. Taken together with the feel, fit, and material quality, these are a desirable headphones. Go listen.

Big Bright Colorful Game or Movie Night Experience

EPSON - PowerLite Home Cinema 1060 1080p 3LCD Projector
The Home Theater experience is not beyond reach. Take one of these Epson projectors home. My impressions of the EPSON will follow a bit further along, but first, I’ll describe my setup. Set the EPSON 1060 projector up on any flat surface, approx 10’ feet away from a flat, white wall. (Zoom and Manual Focus provide flexibility; but, there are max/min limits.) Get a longer than typical HDMI cable and run it to your Blu-Ray or gaming player or computer. I used my DirecTv Satellite box. Setup took mere minutes. Ready. But, I didn’t stop here. Connecting my source player to an AVR (audio/video receiver) and then to the projector and to a set of home theater speakers, especially with a subwoofer, and I’m now in serious competition with the mall theater. How big can you get your image? Shockingly big if your room and wall provide enough space. This EPSON is bright and fills a BIG screen if desired. But, keep in mind, you want to control light levels (dark is best). Science tells us projector light falls off as it gets further away from the screen. For the later part of my review, I eventually aimed onto a 10’ wide (16x9 ratio) projection screen. My comparison projector costs 7X the price of the Epson and is considered top tier in its price range. The EPSON is going to be tested.
The EPSON 1060 uses 3LCD, 3-chip technology. This is a HD (1080p, or 1920 x 1080 native panel). I saw NO pixel grid from my close seating position. This was a smooth and sharp image. Connections are via 2, HDMI ports (1x MHL) to connect your cable/satellite box, Blu-ray Disc player, gaming console or streaming device; it supports MHL-enabled smartphones and streaming sticks for mirroring and charging. Projection can be via Front / rear / ceiling mount. (Yes, the projector has the ability to flip and/or reverse the projected image.) It has a Built-in speaker. Nice for a board room or classroom. See first paragraph. Lamp Life: I used the ECO mode for my setup which should yield up to 7500 hours Normal mode should be good for up to 4500 hours; Lens features: Optical and manual zoom and manual focus; variable focal length 18.2-29.2mm; Zoom 1.1-1.2.
WHAT DID I SEE:
I’ve lived with projectors in my home theater and in professional settings for decades. So, I know what to expect in various price ranges. I still get some surprises. I found myself “WOWing” while I watched the EPSON because of the quality I was seeing at this $649 price. I also found myself wanting more, because there are limitations at the price.
My first image on the EPSON 1060 was a live baseball game. Wow . . . bright and crisp! And motion artifacts were not to be seen. I felt a need to switch to cinema to get a more natural color, and I lowered the BRIGHTNESS (which actually modifies the black level) to get more realistic shadows. This setting proved to be the best adjustment for just about everything, but an hour spent with a calibration disk like Disney’s WOW goes a long way. I was so impressed with this baseball game, I thought I’d switch over to a hockey match. These can prove difficult, with the wicked contrast between the bright white ice and the darker, colorful uniforms or arena. No problem. I’m not sure I saw any motion ghosting, but the EPSON provides controls to manage display speed and motion issues. These should help gamers, also. Great projector for sports. Oh, and if you want to set this up in a room where controlling light is going to be difficult, not to worry. This bright image won’t compete against sun streaming into the room, but it will do nicely with the lights dimmed.
Let’s try a movie. Revenant, with it’s natural scenery, brightly lit day and challenging nighttime scenes, human faces, fine details, and frequent camera pans all provide good examples of how the EPSON processes images. I thought the bright lit scenes were handled well. Without any extended calibration, skin tones were decent and colors were fine. Colors pop rather nicely in brightly lit scenes. Night scenes, however, are where the EPSON struggles. No surprise. And not really fair to expect at $649. If you’re into Sci-Fi and are looking for stars twinkling against a deep black sky, you’re going to be disappointed. And, as long as we’re being unreasonable, I should note that the image on the EPSON isn’t as “calm” as on my comparison projector, the colors aren’t quite as pure or as rich looking. In most of the other image settings, the EPSON can wash out color and blacks a bit more. Use a calibration disk to get the best performance for which the projector is capable. Generally lowering BRIGHTNESS gives a more cinematic image. Let’s pop in an animated film. WOW, again. Like I said. You need reasonable expectations. This is a wonderful image. Sharp. Bright. Colorful. Artifact free. And really a great value.
How to rate this EPSON 1060? Is it a disappointment because it can’t outperform a $3000+ projector? If I’m a teacher/professor/professional looking for a projector that can serve as a lecture hall film/photo projector and I can take it home for the kids or a weekend sporting event, I’m blown away. If I’m a gamer who’d love to bring the friends over for a genuine gaming experience up on a wall or for sharing a movie, we’re all blown away. And, although I described a nice home theater setup earlier, this projector is up and ready to go in a few minutes. If you’re thinking about a dedicated theater experience with a steady diet of Sci-Fi, you probably want to spend more . . . 2 to 3X more. This projector, when used for purposes where it excels, is remarkable.

Linksys WRT32X AC3200 Dual-Band Wi-Fi Router with Killer Prioritization Engine
I’m setting up this router in an average one-story, 2800Sq Ft home. OK, so I’m not a gamer. But, I am a demanding internet user. I insist on the highest streaming speed. And, I’ve got quite a few wireless devices (20 including security cameras, vacuum!!, phones, computers, appliances, remotes, streaming devices, etc) all looking to share WiFi router access. I’m using Internet speed measuring software (on my phone, tablet and laptop) and some readily available network analysis software to see channel allocation and actual signal strength. A more complete evaluation should also include extensive file download measurements, but I’ll be able to see what this gaming router can do in my home. If it’s going to replace my existing setup, it had better be easy to manage and deliver maximum throughput to my devices.
Out of the box, the router is a fairly compact (28 oz), rugged looking black electronic spider with 4 antenna sticking up or out as you prefer. (Sticking them all upwards seems to work well.) The blue light array indicates a variety of functions which are only useful to me when the array looks atypical after I get familiar with typical use. For those of you who find it meaningful, there are power, Internet, 5GHz, eSATA, USB(x2), LAN 1-4 connectivity, and WPS LEDs. The back of the router has a recessed RESET, WPS initiation button, a Gb Internet (WAN) port and a set of 4 Gb Lan ports. It has a USB 3.0 port and Combo eSATA/USB 2.0 port (Huh. That’s new to me). (Am I the only person who would prefer a white router (and cable/power supply), so it would be easier hide in the open?)
This is an advanced MU-MIMO router that takes advantage of unused channels to allow for multiple simultaneous connections. The Killer Prioritization Engine allows YOU to set various devices for maximum performance, IF they have the corresponding chips. Typically these are in gaming computers/laptops/dedicated game machines but I could imagine more future devices having them. Hence, the reason why this router is identified as a Gaming Router. But, you give up nothing just using it for its MU-MIMO performance which is now useable by many modern wireless devices. The Gamer in your house can reach gaming nirvana without all the whining about your concurrent web browsing.
Setup requires : Disconnect your old router. Connect your new WRT32X router to the carrier’s Internet modem/router. Enter the user name/password unique to your WRT32X router provided by Linksys. You can use a browser in your computer/tablet/phone to enter Linksys’ new setup software. On my MacBookPro, at this point Linksys began downloading an update to the router . . . unsuccessfully. (No need to learn about software updates; Linksys does this for you, overnight, without any input from you.) Didn’t matter; I was directed to move forward. I could enter my own Wireless network name and password at this time. I needed to be sure to close out of everything already connected to my test software and then relaunch. After a minute of fussing, I was collecting new email and reconnecting to my test software. I could manage a variety of settings easily in the new Linksys software, but I had no such need. You may want to create priorities for your devices that are eligible because they have the Priority chips.
I ran my series of tests with the router at one corner of my home (service entrance for TWC@ 100MB/sec) with my various measuring devices at the opposite corner, with multiple intervening walls and all sorts electrical devices. I'm even surrounded by neighbors, all of them saturating the airwaves with their routers. My numbers, in my environment, won’t match your results. But the IMPROVEMENT from my several year old router/bridged extender setup was significant. Ping times were up to 20% faster. Continuous download speeds were more consistent and always faster. Signal strength was flat out higher; these are strong amplifiers. Very impressive. I was tempted to call the support folks just to quiz them, but it was all too easy without them. They may end up bored if my experience is typical. Yep, I’m pretty impressed with this Linksys WRT32X router, and I’m not a router aficionado. Now I can sit back with my online sports and movie streaming.

You’re gonna make a lot more coffee at home
on September 1, 2017

The new Keurig K-Select classic coffee maker is slightly different than our 5y/o Keurig model, but the differences are all improvements. Our biggest problem with the older version? These Keurigs won't break even when you're itching for a new one. Sure, we de-scaled it . . once . . . of our region’s infamous calcium deposits, but it’s just keeps on working. Older models are going to be 21st century hand-me-downs.
The new Keurig is a bit slimmed down and shorter. It has added a carbon filter which should last 2 or more months. While I'm not thrilled with another consumable, I'm happy about the carbon filter. The size selection switches are all illuminated, are laid out logically, and they've added a travel mug size. This model has no LCD screen, but doesn’t need one. Everything else is the same. Soak, rinse (thoroughly) and load in the filter. Fill the water reservoir. Power on. Open the pod holder and place one of the dozens (hundreds?) of coffee/tea/cocoa pods into place before you close the cover. Select size. Wait about 90 or so seconds and you're ready. And you just saved some cash and a trip to the neighborhood coffee vendor. The pod coffee maker is a genuine convenience. Just be sure to order enough pods, ‘cause you’re gonna add home-made coffee to your routine.

Reviewing the HP ENVY Photo 7155. I’m in love with any computer accessory that connects quickly to everything else I own, is easy to operate, and accomplishes the task without drama. In my family we want to print out photos of our grandkids from my wife’s iPad, our phones and our computer. I managed to get printouts of photos from 4 devices in the first hour, and it took that long because I wanted to try out various paper sizes to see how the HP 7155 handled its two paper trays.
So, yeah, I’m in love with the new HP. And I haven’t even discussed the print quality. I know you really want to get a dedicated, very multi-colored cartridge printer for truly professional quality looking large photos. But, you’d struggle to find problems with the nicely detailed, very colorful, and properly contrasty pictures that pop out of the HP Envoy. My pictures look better than many prints I’ve done at the local pharmacy photo lab. B&W printouts of dense contract text on standard paper was easy to read, looked professional and printed out wickedly fast.
The software for both my Mac computer and iOS devices was easy to use, was loaded with features and reliably accomplished every task. Print size was easy to control as was selecting the print tray. Just don’t forget to change it for your various projects. Use genuine photo paper for photo lab quality photos.
Highly recommended. The combination of Easy Setup, Flexible Connectivity, Great Pics is great.

Large capacity, useful and COLD.
By TECHBEENGOOD from AUSTIN
My experience has been quite good. This was a purely indulgent purchase. We come from a generation when you never want to run out of food or miss an opportunity during store food specials. This LG ends those fears. It simply soaks up frozen and refigerated foods. We love the open cabinet space and various door and specialty spaces.
I've placed calibrated thermometers in multiple locations in the frdge. It took almost 3 days for the temps to settle down, but now they are within a 4 degree range of the settings. (The LG does NOT show the temp, ONLY the settings. You must use your own thermometer.) The door space in my unit is only a couple of degrees higher, and only during periods of use. The drawers are usually colder than the open space of the fridge. My situation may be unique.
The low noise level is especially welcome. We loved our previous Maytag, but this is another level of quiet. We wondered about the extra depth, but the approx. 2" are not an issue for us. Tighter kitchens may present a problem.
I also called customer service with LG during the 1st 48 hours to understand why the fridge was taking so long to reach the settings. There is a language issue. The pleasant person on the phone struggled with anything other than the simplest presentation of facts, had no appreciation for humor, and was fairly quick to over-react to criticism. Her attachment to the script was frustrating. Most importantly, telling a customer that it's perfectly fine and normal for the temp setting to be 37 and the actual temp to be 42 is wrong. She did not understand that the "setting" is NOT the actual temperature. She then fussed around and helped me cycle through the demo/operational settings which may or may not have helped. The temperature did settle in another 24 hours nad has been perfect for weeks. Customer service needs some work..
I should also add that this purchase was originally made at another long-time national retailer who utterly failed to complete the delivery due to incompetence. Best Buy/Pacific handled sale and delivery with wonderful professionalism.

Edit of review: about that freezer middle drawer
October 5, 2014
I would probably lower the score by 1/2 star after several months of use. You may feel differently. . . . That cute middle slide drawer in the freezer needs a redesign. It occasionally pops out of its track with very little effort. It does not pop back in quite so easily. We've not yet figured out what we've done wrong but with unusual caution and we can avoid the problem. Busier families with kids will not be so fortunate. It'll be an aggravation.

Simplify your everyday life with the Google Home, a voice-activated speaker powered by the Google Assistant. Use voice commands to enjoy music, get answers from Google and manage everyday tasks. Google Home is compatible with Android and iOS operating systems, and can control compatible smart devices such as Chromecast or Nest."

Google (runs my) Home
By TECHBEENGOOD
Google Home
“Hey, Google . . . play “Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young” and so it was done. Google Home used the Pandora account I just entered, and a rather smooth, well balanced music playback began. It could get loud without harshness out of a cute beer-mug sized device. Without any other command, Pandora was now playing. Seemed like magic to my visitors who were listening in to my conversation with Google Home while I was setting it up.
Set up took less than 10 minutes, but I don’t have many of the partner products (NEST, Philips Hue, SmartThings, IF) that Google Home operates with right out of the box. But Google Home has a nice bag of tricks with which to work. With the right Chromecast enabled speakers, you can apparently get the house rocking relying on Pandora, Spotify, Google Play, Youtube Music, or Tunein to provide the tunes.
Both my wife an I are getting a kick out of challenging Google to provide weather reports, news updates, or filling in our grocery list (using Google Keep). It’ll do a very accurate job of answering trivia questions and has no trouble deciphering our voice commands. It could provide the names of local restaurants and addresses, but couldn’t schedule a table for us. It could list where movies were playing, but not when. Google Home easily picked out our voices over a playing TV and was quick to respond. It wasn’t ready with TV schedules, however . . yet.
For me, the real excitement begins if/when Google operates my Logitech Harmony Theater system hubs, my HomeBrite Devices, or maybe lets us order from some online stores. I have no trouble recommending the Google Home device, but I’m also expecting ti to expand its partner list. These are wonderfully useful gadgets, but they rely on Google to play nicely with a variety of other products that I want to control.

Have you got "multiple" networks? Read.
December 7, 2016
I discovered an aggravation in recent days with my Google Home. if you've set up a roaming or extended network in your home, there is a potential problem. (Others with a simple, single router, network can stop reading.) At some point, typically after moving your Google Home or manually quitting then restarting WiFI, you may discover Google Home can't connect to your network. Huh? You've got it extended everywhere in your house and you have a problem ONLY with Google Home? Seems silly. Well, Google Home wants to see your original setup device (phone/tablet) on the same BRANCH of your network. Anything else creates a crisis. Start over, be sure to find the Google device with your setup App on your phone/tablet, and re-establish the connection. Be patient, it will reconnect.

Roomba, you're hired.
By TECHBEENGOOD from Austin
I WILL volunteer to vacuum. Of course, I haven’t developed my wife’s skills or strategies for coping with our home’s diverse floor landscape. All those transitions to wood, tile, various carpet types and back again, through a forest of chair legs, blind hallways, low hanging sofas, beds and chairs, and scattered debris, most of it mine. I’m a work in progress. Which brings us to this iRobot Roomba 890. Kudos to the teams of skilled designers, engineers, of focus groups who built and tested a robot that so successfully accomplishes that which has confounded me for so many years. My wife, our specialist, will have the final judgment on the Roomba.
Setup requires a minimal amount of planning. The Roomba’s charging station needs to be located where the Roomba can find it, be plugged in and docked. At this point, after a few hours to fully charge, you have a working automated, intelligent vacuum. Hate technology? Don’t need it. Press the CLEAN button (x2) whenever you’re ready to vacuum. For me, it’s as I’m heading out the door. And I love technology, just not vacuuming tech. Most others will want to take advantage of the Roomba’s ability to schedule vacuuming sessions, get notifications, and monitor cleaning cycles from the app. Once it’s on your home Wi-Fi, a connected Roomba will work with Amazon’s Alexa.
I’m not going to detail the Wi-Fi connection process. It’s not that it’s lengthy but it requires your close attention to details. My efforts required some restarts, but then, I’m notorious for trying everything first with minimal scanning of the instructions. Don’t try that with the Roomba. Also, you may be jolted by the “unsecured network message” (on the iPhone), but that only indicates a temporary setup condition while configuring the nearby Roomba. Roomba’s online support provides easy-to-follow help if you get into trouble. Don’t be reluctant to reset or restart, as this solved all my issues.
How does this Roomba 890 work? Navigation is effective, as it deals with obstacles, drops, rises, and transitions without problems. Watching the Roomba negotiate my tangle of wires, sneak under our low sofas (low even for our manual upright), and easily climb over our various throw and area carpets is impressive. In places we were sure it would get stuck, it either solved the predicament or avoided it. The combination of sensors, thoughtfully designed rollers and spinners, and logic makes these Roombas special. Oh, and it is surprisingly quiet. We didn’t have to adjust the TV volume, even as it maneuvered around our chairs. At just shy of 90 minutes it found its way back to the charging dock.
My wife’s evaluation? She’s quite willing to leave our home in the tireless, relentless, fastidious care of our new robotic housecleaner. The iRobot Roomba 890 is pretty competent. I think you know my feelings.

I checked again
August 1, 2017
Well, now you've got me wondering if I was sloppy in my review. So, I ran another test today, several weeks after my initial posting. I set my Roomba off on its task by double-clicking the CLEAN button. Set my stopwatch . . . and . . . you can almost set a clock by my Roomba. On my iPhone I got 1:29:10.25 (89 minutes) of vacuuming. Yes, I have 85% hardwood floors (with several large oriental rugs), tile in the bathrooms, and the remainder in a carpeted bedroom. And I do hear the motor working a bit harder on carpet. Your experience will certainly differ, but I'm confident you'll get well past an hour.

Yep. I added cameras from the previous wireless series (1080p) with no difficulty. Your added cameras need to be Night Owl wireless type but they definitely work.

What is the sound decible? I have sensory issues and your BC vacuums tend to be extremely loud

Sound level for our vacuums is a pet peeve of mine, so I make it a point of measuring. With my uncalibrated iPhone App I measure my house on a typical day at 44dB. We're quiet. This vac kicks the noise up to 75-77dB from a yard or two away. The pitch, overall, is not too bad, except for a bit lower volume, higher frequency sound I find annoying. This isn't a quiet vac. Ask the BB store support to fire one up for you. I should note that various vacs of the same model might have differing volumes and pitches.

The Linksys Velop MX10 whole-home Wi-Fi 6 system gives you more speed, coverage, and capacity than it ever has before. Wi-Fi 6 combined with Velop's Intelligent Mesh™ technology delivers true Gigabit Wi-Fi speeds, up to 5.3 Gbps, to every corner of your home, even the backyard and outdoor smart home devices. Wi-Fi 6 also sends and receives multiple streams of data simultaneously and reduces latency, providing up to 4x more capacity compared to Wi-Fi 5 technology. So, it can handle the demands of up to 50 devices and more, from laptops and gaming consoles to smart home devices and 4K TVs, all competing for the same bandwidth. You'll also always have a more efficient Wi-Fi experience with OFDMA that enables more data to and from your devices in a more streamlined manner. And, with BSS technology, congestion is also minimized eliminating interference from nearby wireless networks to deliver a strong, clear Wi-Fi signal to your home, so you won't have to worry about your neighbor's Wi-Fi interfering with yours again. You'll even have 7x more battery life with Target Wake Time that reduces network interference, allowing your devices to remain in sleep mode longer. The MX10 whole-home Wi-Fi 6 system is a part of Velop's modular system, so if you need more coverage, just add more nodes. Cut down on cooking time with this Bella Pro air fryer oven dehydrator. Top and bottom heating elements ensure exceptional cooking results, while the 10.5-quart capacity holds plenty of food. This Bella Pro air fryer oven dehydrator features a touch-screen control panel for quick operation, two nonstick racks for crisping and one pan for baking convenience.

Does the drip pan go underneath the heating element or above?

The instructions on Page 5 of the instructions (item 17) say to only place the drip pan on the oven floor, under the heating elements. This is in direct conflict with the diagram on page 8, where the drip tray is drawn so that it is clearly on the first pair of guides (runners) ABOVE the heating elements, and not on the oven floor. The fact is, it will not sit on my upper guides. It only rests on the oven floor.

When spills happen, the Braava jet m6 robot is always on call—ready to head to the spot and take them on. Just say to Google Assistant or Alexa, “Have Braava mop in front of the kitchen counter”, and it heads out and gets to work. Always learning your home and your cleaning habits, it can offer customized schedules that work around your life—even suggesting extra cleanings during pollen season. Using Precision Jet Spray, it loosens dirt and sticky messes without spraying furniture, rugs, or walls—all without any effort from you, making your mopping tasks a thing of the past. *(Alexa and all related logos are trademarks of Amazon.com or its affiliates. Can you use Swiffer Dry and Wet Jet Pads on this like the Braava 300?

The m6 appears to sense the unique hole pattern on the mounting plate of each pad type to identify the dry or wet pads and perform tasks accordingly. If I'm correct, it seems unlikely that a generic pad will work properly.

We have a pretty big open floor plan and own a roomba i series that empties itself. The only thing holding me back on purchasing the mop is if there is a mechanism where it goes back to its station and can refill with water or does it stop when out?

Our m6 heads back to its dock and the App indicates that it needs a refill. The mop is a bit more hands-on that the vacs.
