This is a beautiful and well-told story that is superbly-acted, accompanied by a fantastic sound-track, supported with awesome cinematography, visual-effects and sound-effects that are unwittingly realistic, and brilliant Directorship – all combine to make for a grand view and memorable experience. There are times that the film emotionally touches the viewer in a pleasant way. One thing is sure – you will want to revisit this moving-picture often.

A realistically told story, which is well-acted and directed, and coupled with CGI to effectively show several aerial and POW Camp sequences. It’s an emotional trip, which grabs you completely – they say war is hell – well this film is the that side of hell that you don’t want to experience and you will experience it due to the Directors drive for an unusually gritty but true moving-picture.

Story based on actual events during the American Civil War. In the West to campaign at Vicksburg DURING 1863 was at a standstill and a 300 mile Calvary Brigade raid on Newton Station was planned – the railroad junction was the point of supply for the Confederate troops at Vicksburg – to relieve the standstill. Filled with lots of Battle Action – the raid and counter-attack at Newton Station, the Battle of the School Boys and the furious Battle of the Bridge on their southerly retrograde. And there is enough hilarious tension between the Wayne, Holden and Constance Towers characters to make the film a memorable view. It’s a great Calvary opera and a “fun” view.

It’s a harsh stark story that is very well-told and acted that depicted the unusually bleak times of the “Great Depression” of the 1930’s in America. It’s westward-ho on US Route 66 (which is still in existence today) to the promised “green” land of California and the wretched living conditions in the labor/farm camps. This story needs to be viewed again to remind us of our “sometimes stark heritage” and the hard-truth of the Great Depression.

Story opens with a combined Infantry/Armor rolling attack in Iraq that has a sniper over-watch, then quickly flash-backs to a Texas Deer hunt with Chris and his father and his father’s training of Chris as “the protector.” This biographical film is not just well-written, it is both superbly casted, acted and directed, and it is accompanied by realistic sound effects and a fitting sound track for chosen scenes. Story-line takes you through Kyle’s Texas ranch formative days, his rodeo cowboy era, his Seal Team BUD/S training, his romance and marriage with his wife Taya, and Sniper School. He and his new wife both view in “real time” the 9/11 attack on the NY Twin Towers. Story faithfully tracks his decade of almost constant war experience thru his 4 Tours of combat service and the story will reach out and touch you often – you really get “inside” the story and share it with Chris Kyle. The author really picked-up on the combat vets response to smells, sounds and actions, that even thou effected in a Stateside environment, caused a response by a combat vet suffering from PTSD. If the films ending with “film credits” don’t get-to-you then you are truly made of stone. This film is a fitting tribute to a great American hero – it’s an emotional human story and a story of what war can take from you – and the struggle of the balance of two worlds: that of war and a family caring for one another. The hardships that families face during deployment and the eventual reunion with their warrior is surfaced and treated with the care that it deserves. It’s a rewarding view that you will want to return to.

Story opens in the very early summer of 1861 in Washington, DC with Col. Robert E. Lee, US Army being offered promotion and the command of the entire US Army which he “politely” declined. The seeds of internal war were being sown early-on and many young men on both sides – North & South – formed up for the civil war that laid ahead and did not realize the coming wrath of it all. The script is spoken in the “talk of the times” and conveys the deep religious convictions of both competing parties. Its story-line, based on real events, can be at times very touching and the emotion of the moment is delivered to the viewer in a memorable way. See it! Enjoy it! But Remember it – for it is the moral fiber of our American Nation and history that we as a Nation must and need to understand!

It’s Light, It’s Funny and It’s just a good comedy based around a “second-chances” boxing come-back. There is a quality story-line and some very fine acting which makes this film a fun view that at times is emotionally touching. But the end is not the end so see the Credits through!
