The Hamilton Beach Programmable Set & Forget 6 Quart Slow Cooker makes a family meal on a busy weeknight possible. This slow cooker has a built-in thermometer for cooking meat and a program setting that shifts automatically to warm when set time is up.
Does "programmable" mean I can set it to come on at a specific time and cut off at a specific time?
From what I can tell, programbale means that you can set it to cook for a certain amount of time and once that time has expired then it will automatically switch to a Keep Warm setting. I don't think you can set specific start and end times, however I just started using this product and getting used to the various features.

does it turn off automatically after it is done cooking... I work long hours and would hate to come home to a fire
The slow cooker will automatically go to a "Keep Warm" setting once the requested cooking time has expired. This way the food will still be warm at least once you get home from your long day.
