The 16-35mm is a fantastic lens. I find myself going to the lens a majority of the time. It really brings a great focal range for a wide angle zoom lens. Great results throughout the focal range with little distortion you might expect from a wide angle lens. Image sharpness is phenomenal at any focal length. This lens works great on either the A7 series type cameras, but just as well on the A6000 and NEX type bodies.
The lens has a decent size and weight to it. You know this is a great piece of glass as soon as you pick it up. The additional Zeiss branding also clearly demonstrates the image quality you’ll get with this lens. I definitely does not disappoint in this area.
After using this lens for a few months, I have no complaints about its performance. While it does cost a bit more, if it is within your budget, you will not be disappointed. It performs flawlessly in every situation you can throw at it. I highly recommend this lens.

Excellent Sony FE lens

I selected this lens due to the fact that it is a macro lens for Sony E mount. I have done some macro work with my Canon 100mm macro lens, but Sony didn’t offer a native macro lens until this 90mm. I had a hard decision to make on deciding on whether to go with this lens or the Zeiss 85mm Batis. The macro won out, plus the Batis has suffered from a major shortage worldwide.
I have used it on both my A7R and my A6000. In each case the images are nothing short of spectacular. As with any lens that is considered fast, the corners are slightly dark when wide open. This is easily corrected in post processing. The vignetting is evident at f/2.8 but begins to clear as the aperture is stepped down. The corners are relatively free of vignetting by f/4. Image sharpness is stellar. Throughout the frame at f/4 and above the sharpness really shows through. I have used this lens a couple of times for simple portraits and I have to say I am very satisfied with its performance.
This is a big lens for a mirrorless system. While using this lens with a slightly bigger body such as the A7 series, the balanced is not too bad. However, when attaching to an A6000, the lens can really start to throw off the balance of the camera. Even so, the image quality is fantastic, making up for this slight disadvantage.
This lens might be outside of many enthusiast budget. If you can afford this piece of glass, I would highly recommend it to anyone. It performs quite well when compared to other macro lenses in its class. This 90mm makes a very nice addition to the Sony FE lens lineup.

Excellent Lens!!

This is my third Sigma lens I have purchased and I have no regrets. This lens is simply a dream to use and the results are nothing less than outstanding. The build quality of these Art lenses is superb, and your results will show it.
I used this lens to take several pictures during a Halloween event. Because this event was in low light I thought I would have issues using it. My Canon EOS 6D and this 35mm never missed a beat and performed flawlessly in these conditions. The results were spectacular!
The image quality is stunning with accurate color rendition and image sharpness. When the lens is wide open, the corners are a bit soft. However, the center of the image is tack sharp throughout range of the aperture. Vignetting is a little more pronounced wide open with obvious darkening of the corners, but this tends to get better by f/2.8 and gone by f/4. Images sharpness is best between f/4 and f/11, as the whole frame is tack sharp.
The price point of this lens was also a huge factor for me when compared to native Canon lenses. It’s half the price and has as good if not better performance as that lens. It’s simply a great lens that anyone will enjoy using, especially when viewing the results. This lens is highly recommended.

I purchased this lens for my Sony A7R and A6000. Sony currently doesn’t have too many native lenses for the full frame E mount systems, especially in fast primes. The 35mm is such a great focal length to use on several occasions and having the added speed of such a lens makes it all the better. There are several good things associate with this lens, but there are also a couple of negative points with it as well.
The build quality of this lens is superb! It is a beast and you can tell it has great glass with its size and weight. However, this can also be viewed as a negative when mounting this behemoth to a camera such as the A6000. It is heavy and a little awkward on such a small mirrorless. When it is mounted on my A7R it feels pretty good in the hands and doesn’t offset the balance too bad. The size and weight is just simply one of the tradeoffs you have for a fast prime.
This lens also comes with an aperture ring where you can set the lens to adjust aperture settings manually. While I tend to do a majority of my work with still imagery, this feature really makes no difference to me. I utilize the camera to make my aperture settings. Some will love this feature for videography.
The colors that are rendered from this lens are spot on. Excellent quality is captured with every shot.
When talking about sharpness of the lens, I would say that the quality is exceptional in the center throughout the full range of the aperture. When the lens is wide open, the image quality tends to be a little soft, but this begins to clear up, if not gone, by f/2.8. From there on, it’s hard not to get a super sharp image.
One of my biggest complaints about the lens is its steep price point. This is one of the most expensive native Sony lenses to date for the E mount system. There are other options, some of which require adapters or loss of auto focus!
I have had this lens for a few weeks and am quite happy with its performance so far. I would highly recommend this lens as an addition to your E mount collection. You will be pleasantly surprised by the outstanding image quality you will receive.
