This is an extremely popular mic with YouTubers and podcasters. I sort of assumed it was because it's a great mic for a great price. Well, not exactly. It's worth what you pay for it, but it's nothing special. It does have one nice feature that changes the polarity of the mic from cardioid (focussing in on the narrator) to omni (sort of like your built-in laptop mic) recording everything in the room (like a meeting). The mic sound is nothing special, in fact, for all the hype I was quite dissapointed. It sounds as plastic as it looks. :( A much better mic is the old Shure SM58—a standard stage vocal mic for decades. Of course it's nearly twice the price AND you'll need an additional USB interface or mixer. So if all you want is a mic that's a little better than your built-in laptop mic, and simply plugs into your laptop via USB, then this is a good choice, but not at all professional.

I work with graphics and video day in and day out. My eyes have become extremely sensitive to slight differences in color, aliasing and pixels. I know that my eyes are in a minority group. 9 out of 10 of my closest friends simply cannot see the difference between Plasma vs. DLP technology. So to debate the demerits of Super AMOLED is futile.
Along with SAMSUNG's Galaxy S4, the HTC Droid DNA is is the highest resolution device on the planet. I know that less pixel-discerning eyes will do fine with Super AMOLED, often prefering it, due to brighter screens and more saturated colors. For the rest of us (admittedly a dying minority) who turn off the "Dynamic Color" features of our HDTVs in preference for the "Natural" setting, and who actually CAN see the disgusting pentile pixel array in almost every AMOLED display, this phone is the only choice.
It was a tough choice, however. I love the idea of some of the Samsung technologies (Galaxy camera features, and especially dual-tasking). At 1080p, the AMOLED pixels in the S4 are finally so minor that I can only see them at a distance closer than I would typically operate my phone. They do however lend themselves to a display that is ever-so-slightly less crystal sharp—most noticeable in text (i.e. Kindle, browser, etc). I know, it's heresy to go against what most articles say (articles written by technology journalists who don't have 25 years of experience looking for imperfections in graphics and video output).
As a phone, it works great. Every phone has it's dead spots, due to coverage, but as far as I can tell, this phone works as good or better than my original Motorola Droid or HTC Rezound (another purchase made solely on high-res LCD display).
Because resolution and clarity is my number one priority in any device, I always tend to buy phones that others say are battery hogs. I wouldn't know. I'm used to it. So for what it's worth, this phone will last a solid day of talking, texting, surfing and GPS navigating. From morning when I take it off the charger until my late bed time, when I put it back on, this phone usually has about 20% battery left. That's as good as I need.
I have had to reset the phone a couple times within the first week I had it. That was a little nerve-racking because the phone does not have an accessible battery or removable back cover. I simply held down the power button for about a minute and I was back in action. I've had the phone for about a month, now, and I haven't seen that issue since the first couple of days.
The quad-core processor in this phone is even snappier than my Nexus 7 tablet (also quad-core). 2GB RAM really seems to make a difference when loading several apps into memory.
Some might complain about not having an external memory slot. If that is really an issue for you, you may have to compromise and get the S4 (it's OK, you probably can't see the quality difference in the display [count yourself lucky]). For me, it's not an issue. The device comes with 16GB of internal storage. I take a good amount of pictures and video on my phone, but I never fill it up. I don't download gobs of music and video files to store locally, mostly just streaming Dood's Music Streamer and Netflix, etc. With all of that, I've used 8GB so far. If the day ever comes that I fill up the remaining 8GB of storage (doubtful), I'll simply plug in the USB cable and offload my personal files to a real computer (backup is such a novel concept).
At this price (FREE at the time of this review), you simply cannot get a better phone period. Sometimes it's better NOT being the most popular phone, but rather the BEST phone. Such is the case with the HTC DNA and anyone who picks up this phone before it's gone are the real winners!
