Never would have ever buy an Epson!

Was going to get a HP to replace my old HP deskjet - i have been using HP for more than 20 years. The day Best Buy had it on "sale" (sale is never real sale - it is just a different price than the previous week and will go up and down if you missed the "sale"), i knew the HP model i wanted to buy and arrived at the store. I stood in front of the display for a long time reading all the reviews and getting disillusioned because of the poor reviews ... then, the Epson salesman offered to help. I thought, oh boy - i'm going to listen to some salesman to tell me what i need. But i did. The "reviews" were so much better than HP6830 that i initially wanted to buy. I was also a little tired by then and just wanted to bring home a printer.
So far, its been good! It's just not as "clean" a design as the HP but it works well.

Saw this at my local Best Buy and went to my fave Amazon review column to check... alas, only 2 reviews on this product and one gave a 1 star! We still went ahead and buy it because it looked very good and we received a great price match from BB for only $39.99.
We always had electric kettles - we like to free the stove for other stuff. But we never spent more than $22-25 on a kettle. I like the chrome look - matches all my small appliances like toaster etc but i am just getting tired of smudges and polishing... This one is a nice combi of chrome trim and clear glass, perfect design.
This one was a splurge - one of the Christmas presents... When we first saw it, it sat on the Best Buy's shelf looking very inviting..
The LED lights were very very nice - a conversation piece if you have company. it looks stunning at night when the lights are switched off in the room.
no plastic smell for me. However, only a week into usage, the inside bottom of the kettle already shows spots (usually that shows only after months or a year of using) on the stainless steel. That's the one star i took away for this reason. I boiled vinegar mixed with water in it and clean with dish soap later to get rid of it.
The top cover of the kettle has a push button that pops up as you pushes it. The metal around the button is hot but not the button itself.
Once depressed and popped up, it becomes a knob for you to lift the cover up. I usually turn the cover upside down to prevent drips (immediately after boiling) but this can sometimes hurt your hand if not careful as the steam that condenses on the cover is v hot. So, now i just place the cover down without flipping.

Great but lack in design

It work like it is supposed to but I was and still am disappointed by the bulky design, Why doesn't it look sleek and compact like a Bose? Sony has so many electronic lines from TVs to cameras etc. This thing looks like a dinosaur next to a contemporary home theater setup. i have to look for a TV console to fit it. It wasn't my choice - was hubby's.

Best present 2015 for a busy mum

Best Christmas present 2015. we run it almost everyday in a house about 2800 sqf, two storeys. No issue bringing him up and down. Although, once it was confused with the routes it automatically preset in its chip... got us worried but it was temporary.
The "work" is in cleaning the dustbin which needed to be emptied every day or two when we run it. Cleaning the filter took me about 20-30 mins each time (i hated it) until i read on Amazon review someone posted about using toilet paper over the filter. Worked like a charm!! Now, the dirt and fuzz balls are capture BEHIND the tissue instead of being stuck on the filter. so, no more combing and brushing since. My filter is clean every time i empty the dustbin, although i imagine the small particles not visible to the naked eye is caught by the fine HEPA filter (i hope!).
The photo on right shows all the tools ever needed to keep this baby clean.
Keeping it clean is important to prevent the complaints of breakdowns and poor performance you hear others talking about.
The photo on left shows the tissue in place. I use kitchen towel and trim around the corners after i fit the tissue and slide the filter into the dustbin. The photo shows on one side the excess before trimming.
we did buy the $50 insurance for two years from Geek Squad. i dont ever want it to break down and am very careful with taking care of it but if it does, Best Buy says they will replace it. Peace of mind.
