Great price & features; annoying Roku

Really 3 1/2 stars, but 1/2s aren't allowed. Grabbed this 50" TV during a GREAT members-only sale that can't be beat. I understood that instead of the native Smart TV technology, this used the Roku interface to provide Smart features like apps (we use Netflix, Amazon video and music, YouTube a LOT) but was assured I wouldn't see much difference, but I really don't love the Roku. The signup process was annoying and necessitated a phone call, and the apps are a tad flaky, taking a long time to start up, sometimes freezing, etc. It's not my network, since the other two smart TVs in the house (one much further from the router) don't do this with the native Smart technology. And Roku tech support was poor.
That said, except for VERY long start up time for the TV, I like the picture; more than adequate for such an inexpensive TV. And the sound is surprisingly good for an inexpensive TV! And when I had to call Sharp for support (wanted to know how to have it start up connecting to my FIOS STB instead of the home screen) they were extremely helpful and personable. There is NO manual for this model (yet) but they pointed me to an older model's manual which they said was similar.
At the sale price (or even a bit more) I would definitely recommend this TV despite some annoyances. My biggest complaint is more a Best Buy complaint---their policy is they will not accept a return if the TV is defective past just one week, which is really horrible. Past that, you'd have to deal with Sharp, ship the product instead of just bringing it into the store, etc. Makes me VERY nervous if something goes wrong. I hate to say it, but it's this short-sighted policy of Best Buy that would make me loathe to recommend this more than slight dissatisfactions with the TV.

Cheap alternative with good coverage

Been using this phone and plan for quite a while now. The 300 minute plan, which lasts 2 months and is extendable if you buy another, is perfect for the relatively light usage I do. Kudos for the rollover feature---I've amassed a lot of minutes at one point that came in handy during a death in the family, when I made a ton of calls.
I don't use this phone for internet connectivity (have a tab for that) and find it annoying that every once in a while, when this is locked and in my pocketbook, it connects to the browser and costs me minutes.
The camera is HORRIBLE, and if that were important to me, that would be a dealbreaker. But calls and texts go through reliably, sound is fine, and coverage so far has been pretty good, important to me as I travel.
Another nitpick: using the voice features (i.e. to send a text to a specific recipient) should be easy from the main screen; you shouldn't have to go into the menu, choose voice services, etc.
My Best Buy number: 2720001350
What's great about it: Inexpensive plans, good coverage
What's not so great: No option for international, lousy camera, connects to internet when locked
I would recommend this to a friend!

Internet Connectable?Don't Know

This is really 4 1/2 stars, but that's not an option. I was thrilled with how easy this was to set up, and how clear the picture is with one caveat, mentioned later. I first hooked this, because it was in a guest bedroom, to an SD set-top box, and even on SD, this was far clearer than the old CRT that had been there before. When I got the HD box a few days later, I hooked that up with component connection, and it's terrific, although text seemed to have 'ghosting'...not sure if this is a function of all LED TVs or not. I also tried an HDMI connection, but don't see much difference from the component connection, so decided to save the HDMI cable for another larger set.
For a tiny, relatively inexpensive set, this is a knockout. I would definitely recommend it and buy Samsung again, though I would love to find out it there's a fix for the ghosted text, which is minor but annoying.

What's great about it: Easy setup, basically good picture, great sound
What's not so great: text looks a bit weird

Expensive w/install

Since the Kindle was for a young child, I thought springing for the shield protector was a wise move, and I agreed that they are very tricky to install yourself (very sticky, can get bubbles) so I agreed to let them pop it on for me, but was shocked at what they charge to just smooth a shield on the tablet. Not sure this would be a worthwhile purchase for an adult who is a careful user.

Bought this for my grandson who had been playing with his Mom's Kindle, and so wanted to stick with Kindle rather than Android. We got an open box deal and the salesperson was helpful and knowledgeable, and so far he loves the tablet.
My only caveat is that I believe there are more apps for Android (which is what I'm familiar with) and I'm not sure what advantages this would have over an Adnroid tablet unless you are mainly using this for Kindle books (which my daughter-in-law was, but not my grandson).

This TV shows that it's LED in the title, but in the specifications it says LCD. Which is correct?

It's actually both :). LEDs are used here to backlight the LCD display, which results in a clearer picture.

What could cause the tv to just turn off

Wish I had a firm answer, but a few thoughts: 1. make sure you don't have "sleep timer" enabled; 2. you may want to call Sharp tech support---they were very helpful when I had early questions; 3. I too have had this problem when running apps like You Tube and can't help but wonder if it's overheating. Looking forward to more knowledgeable answers, but I see you posted over a month ago with no response.
