The Narnia books are perennial favorites with the young, especially as they have a spiritual side that is rare. The plot to this movie departs significantly from the book, but for valid reasons, and entertainingly so. It's worth some time and money.
I have read all the books and I find the movies compelling. There is no impurity in this series, but there is suicide and the allusion to suicide. Something of a tradeoff, I suppose.
The hero is a young boy unhappy at home who escapes and finds an island of monsters where he learns that being king isn't everything. (He goes home.) I think kids would like it and it does have a good message without being preachy.
Package Description: Everyone's favorite feathered hero, Donald Duck, returns in this hilarious series! Donald's life is turned upside down when his mischievous teenage nephews Huey, Dewey and Louie move in and embark on a series of wacky adventures. Enjoy three hilarious Quack Pack episodes. Join the boys as they unlock a secret TV channel that transports treasures over the airwaves, and make an appointment with a mysterious dentist and his mind-controlling braces. It's web-footed fun for the whole family!
Quack Pack had all the usual suspects of Duckburg, but this reboot has the Duck brothers more mature (in their interests) and maybe a good lesson is taught when their immaturity frequently causes problems (tip for kids' writers?). I think a lot of kids would like it.
I don't like even soft rock, so I was concerned by that in this kid's movie, but it has a good plot, some familiar characters, and makes a good addition to the Oz canon. Maybe someday an effort will be made to do the complete series of Oz books by L. Frank Baum! We're getting closer, I suppose.
I will say there was a nude shot of the hero's girlfriend from behind at the start, but the rest of the movie was clean and VERY well done in the action and plot departments. True to life in some important ways!
This wacky release for fans of classic, golden age animation offers a collection of 13 cartoon shorts starring characters like Tom and Jerry, Sylvester and Tweety, and more.
This selection even featured Droopy as a hero knight, certainly a rare star turn for him. The rest were also very clever, such as psych warfare by mice on a cat. This series of old WB cartoons has some winners.
This collection of thirteen animated shorts culled from various studios and eras have one thing in common, all were nominated for Academy Awards. Included in this set are Popeye the Sailor Meets Sinbad the Sailor, Peace on Earth, A Wild Hare, Puss Gets the Boot, Superman, Rhapsody in Rivets, Hiawatha's Rabbit Hunt, The Night Before Christmas, Blitz Wolf, Pigs in a Polka, Swooner Crooner, Walky Talky Hawky, and Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Mouse.
A good mixed selection of WB cartoons, even a good old Superman cartoon that was very artistic, and a wartime Porky Pig cartoon about egg production (it was funny!).
It was fairly good for cartoons. A minimum of objectionable material (Yosemite Sam in his underwear after an explosion). If you want typical WB cartoons from the period, this is a good collection.
I wanted to see Jennifer Lawrence in one of her low budget films, and was pleased with the level of human interest in this movie. Her father disappears, her mother has psych problems, and Jen has to solve this. (I think some have found a similarity to Hunger Games in the family dynamic!) Don't expect sweetness and light, but it is good!
