The best Mario Kart available!

So, yes, this is a slight upgrade to the Wii U version of Mario Kart 8, but no enough people bought a Wii U to really notice. This game is pure Mario Kart joy, and with the Switch, you will always have an extra controller for your friend to play with you on the train/plane/wherever. The game looks stunning and runs silky smooth in docked mode as well as handheld mode. The unlockables will keep you racing for hours and hours, and the online is very fun. Also, if you have friends that have a Switch, you can all play wirelessly without wifi. It's amazing.

As a kid born in the late 80's, I've really grown up with Mario and all of his friends. I've played every Mario game since the NES days, and I can say that Odyssey is absolutely up there with some of his very best titles. The game has almost a Mario 64 feel to it, but Cappy adds an entirely new and exciting element to the gameplay. There are dozens of hours that can be spent on the game, and the difficulty level is really based on how much you want to accomplish in the game. I think a younger kid could work their way through the main story, but gamers of all ages will find difficulty and reward in seeking out all of the moons this world has to offer.

I waited in line for ten hours to get my Switch at launch along with Zelda, and I was not disappointed. The console feels incredibly solid. It's easily the most high-end product Nintendo has released to date. The systems works as advertised, and almost magically so. What seems like it shouldn't be a difficult trick to pull off, the Switch seems remarkable in the actual act of switching from portable to docked mode. There is no lag between the two, no waiting for a boot up, no loss of data or having to close out your game... it just works. The joy cons are fun to use, and the motion tracking is really great. I have lost sync with my left joy con while playing in docked mode, and I do plan on exchanging it through Nintendo. Aside from that, my only other complaint would be that the lineup of games right now is pretty lacking. I decided on a 4 for this one, because Nintendo has really delivered an excellent gaming experience but it feels like it was rushed. The UI is very bare bones, there isn't a virtual console yet, and the left joy con issue is really frustrating at times. I would tell anyone to buy the Switch, though. It's wonderful.

Many people don't seem to understand that Richard Linklater is one of the best American directors of our time. This is one of his earliest works, and it transports you to the feel of early 90s college kids and the weirdness of Austin as well. Another excellent addition to the Criterion Collection.

Criterion did an amazing job with the packaging and restoration of Repo Man. The film itself is a bizarre commentary on American consumerism in the 80s, and it still resonates today. The punk vibes and alien side make it an interesting cult classic.

Best version of an excellent film

This is one of Scorsese's most interesting films, and it does not disappoint. It was widely panned by religious groups initially, but it really isn't anti-Christian or anti-Jesus. It's showing an interesting "what if" scenario, and it's executed perfectly by Willem Dafoe in the role of the Christ. Criterion has done an excellent job restoring the film to better quality on blu ray than anyone has ever seen it before.
