I have been shooting Nikon cameras since 1989. My last camera was the D300. I wanted to have a camera capable to shoot clean shots at high ISO, with better auto-focus and with more resolution than the D300. The DX option was the D7100, but even though this is a very good camera, I was waiting for another DX equal enough to the D300 or much better in all respect. Obviously, the D7100 was tempting me but I was waiting for the rumored D400 that probably will never be created.
The D600 was not an option due to the oil getting in the sensor. Nikon tried to fix the problem by introducing the D610 which in my opinion, was not either an acceptable option as well. The D800 / 810 were too pricey and the D4, way too expensive for my wallet. I was waiting for either the rumored D7100 replacement or another camera FX in between the D610 and the D800 series when the D750 showed up !
I decided to buy this camera and move to a different world, the FX world, which demand the use of better lenses and technique. I do have 3 professional lenses already : Nikon 70-200 f/4, Nikon 105 f/2.8 and Nikon 16-35 f/4. The experience and technique was there also. I was ready to move and gave this camera a shot and let me tell you, I won't go back to any other; I am simply impress with this camera. I am able to shoot at ISO 12800 and the results are amazing, great colors at that high ISO and clean shots. The AF system of this camera is super fast and infallible. Set it up for AF-C Group and the camera will not stop shooting very sharp pics of your model regardless of their movement speed. This is a plus to me because I shoot weddings and even though you can get kind of the same result with the D7100 by setting that camera in AF-C 3d, still that function is not as perfect like the one in the D750.
Before, with my D300, I had to use at least 2 speed lights to get the shot done while shooting indoors. Now, I do not have the need to use flashes anymore. My D750 is capable to "illuminate" any dark room and turn it into a very bright one. It does not fail ! It is capable to shoot even in dark environments, something that is not possible with the D7100.
I also have the capability to shoot almost 6 frames per second; the color rendition are excellent, the body is very light and ergonomic, the shutter feels secure under your finger, excellent life battery ( more than 1k shots ); believe it or not, this camera shoots excellent jPEG pictures even at high ISO. The body is weather sealed. The other night I was shooting under a light rain and I did not even bother trying to protect my camera. For me, it has been a great move and worth the investment. The only flaw is that at the moment, you are not capable to download your RAW files ( I shoot in RAW ) directly from the camera to your photo processor unless you do have a RAW converter. I use aperture and I bought the ExifChanger program from Apple for $10 dollars and with that little program, I am capable to convert my RAW files as if they were shot with the Nikon D5300. As a temporary solution, it is a great choice, till Nikon release the RAW file format.
I won't give you my opinion about the video capabilities of this camera because I am not a videographer and I do not really care about that at all. I am a photographer 100% and as such, if you are looking for a camera that will help you to improve your pics in any kind of environment, assuming that you have the lenses and the experience, this is your camera. Not that expensive as the D800 or D4 but at the same level of those cameras. The D750 produce much better clean shots than the D800 and its AF-S system is on par with the top of the line, D4 series. Isn't a great choice ? In my humble opinion, yes it is by all means !!
