I own a Apple TV unit and wanted to also have a Roku player as well. "Roku 2" is about half the price of Apple TV. It has everything you really need to stream content and makes it a good value compared to Apple TV.
Apple TV is easier to set up and you do not need to provide credit card information for set up as you do with Roku. Apple TV also comes with a fixed preset channel lineup where as you need to add most of your channels with Roku (this is a big plus for the Roku system as you can add dozens of channels). If you are a big Apple supporter with a good deal of cloud content, then the Apple TV system is the way to go, if not, you just can't beat Roku's flexibility and value.
