GREAT Macro & Street Lens

The macro performance is amazingly sharp and precise, but this lens also shines as a simple street lens. Quick focusing, sharp color separation and short profile make it perfect for quick snaps while out and about without the wide-angle look of a proper landscape lens.
It doesn't have a large enough aperture to be a good low-light lens, but it'll do pretty well with the ISO jacked up a little more than normal.
Good construction, feels sturdy and the manual focus ring has a nice, solid grip to it.
The attached photo was just a quick shot to see how it performed without a tripod in natural light. No image manipulation at all.

Absolutely Fantastic Portrait Lens

I initially bought this lens to use for the next few months until I finish saving for one of the nicer models but really, after a few sessions with this one I'm pretty satisfied, to the point that I'm adding and upgrading other pieces before this one.
Focus is fast, optics are clear with a minimal amount of distortion around the edges. Very little chromatic aberration and with such a wide aperture is very easy to throw the background out of focus entirely and make the subject pop.
I use it often to photograph bands during their performances and the low-light performance is stellar. Definitely a must-have in your bag.

Slow, Clunky & Oddly Shaped

The video quality is fine, but the UI is slow to load and transition, the tray mechanism is clunky and noisy and the weird curve of the body isn't conducive to integration in an entertainment center.
It's cheap, in every sense of the word, but it's better than some of the alternatives, which isn't necessarily a glowing recommendation.
If you can budget for one of Samsung's nicer models, absolutely do so.

Great Bag Hampered by the Strap

Domke makes some fantastic bags, I've used them throughout my younger years as a photographer while in school but hadn't bought a new one in a long time.
I recently entered the mirrorless world (Sony a6000) and picked up this bag based mainly on its size and the name and overall, I haven't been disappointed at all, except for the strap.

The bag itself is perfectly made, as one would expect from Domke. The pockets close securely but are easy to open (even by feel alone), the internal dividers don't shift around and have a nice balance between sturdiness and flexibility. It isn't as large a bag as the pictures might imply, but it easily holds my camera body, a few lenses, a flash, my day planner, cleaning kits, cables and chargers and a few other odds and ends.
Even packed full the bag rides easily when worn. It doesn't shout 'Camera bag, steal me!' when traveling and when you're moving around and looking at other things it's easily shifted to your bag and doesn't dangle in the way.
Really, my only complaint is that the leather strap just feels 'cheap'. It's not finished, it's not stitched or finished on both sides, only the top is actually finished smooth. There doesn't seem to be anything really WRONG with it, but compared to the quality of the rest of the bag it really seems to stand out.
Other than that, a great example of Domke design and quality.

Rough Adjustment & OK Optics

It's alright for the price. It isn't made to the tightest tolerances, so turning the polarizing element is a little rough and gritty feeling. The threads are cheap metal and cross easily (as I pointed out in another review). The polarizing effect is slightly uneven across the field of view, which isn't an issue for MOST shooting situations.
It's an ok value for the money overall, a really nice upgrade from one of these will cost over 2x the price, which pretty much puts this one at the top of it's price point competitors.

Good Value Good Optics

It's a good value for the money, the metal used for the housing is obviously cheap and allows the threads to be easily crossed, which isn't a HUGE deal unless you're not careful to pay attention (like me).
The optics are pretty clear, there CAN be a little bit of distortion around the extreme edges, but it's easy to fix with a Lightroom adjustment profile.

Does this lens work with the a5100? And does it come with a cover ?
It does work with the a5100 and it comes with a lens hood to prevent glare from the sun and a front and rear cap.
