This is my third favorite Mission: Impossible film after Ghost Protocol and the original. As one would expect from such a high quality and costly production, the film looks and sounds beautiful. If you like action films, this one is for you.

This film was not nominated for the Best Picture Oscar. It should have been. If you can understand the symbolism and the parallels between the two stories, this film is absolutely fantastic. Great filmmaking. Only Hel* or High Water and The Handmaiden were better.

Great Looking Average Film

The original script for this film was better than the rewritten script used for the film. The film has many dark themes that are not explored and instead it tries to be more of a romance than a morality play. This was a mistake and hurt the quality of the film, but probably made it easier to market. The ending is a cop out and could have been very powerful if it placed Lawrence's character in the same position as Pratt's character was in earlier. The visuals and sound are top notch. Having 3D is a great bonus. Film: 5/10. Visual/Audio: 9.5/10

Firstly, to my knowledge, this film was shot in 6k and mastered at 4k. So, unsurprisingly, this UHD looks fabulous and it sounds great too. I wish it had Dolby Vision HDR, but only five UHD discs have it so far and this isn't one of them. The film wasn't critically praised, but it is much better than what the critics said. Film: 6.5/10. Visuals/Sound: 9.5/10

This is a good looking, good sounding popcorn flick. It isn't groundbreaking and could have been better if it explored the island more and had an emotional theme to discuss, but it was still a fun romp. UHD is strong and could only look slightly better with Dolby Vision. Also, its nice that it comes with the 3D. It's worth the extra cost if you like 3D and have the equipment to display it.

This is a good film. Good visual quality and audio quality. The best performance of Hunnam's career and the director's best film to date. Too bad the UHD version of this film was cancelled before its release date. The blu-ray is good, but the UHD had a chance to be great, since the film was shot and mastered at 4k resolution.

A Sequel Almost Worth the Wait

A good transfer of a good film. Not as good of a film as the original and not as good a sequel as hoped for after all these years of building up its possibilities. Still a fun flick. It is too bad we had to wait so long to see the continuing story of these characters. Thankfully McGregor and Boyle settled their differences and finally made this film. Hopefully, they will collaborate more in the future.

This film is a masterpiece. Perfect audio and video on the UHD disc. Only caveat is that the disc is missing Dolby Vision. One of the three best films made by the director, the other two being The Fifth Element and La Femme Nikita. If you like the film and have the hardware to play and display UHD material, buy this disc NOW.

The PQ and AQ for this UHD release are stellar. The film could only look better (and only slightly better) if this release had Dolby Vision instead of only HDR10. Other than that, a perfect presentation of a great film. This is how UHD discs of movies shot on 35mm film should look.
