This adapter works for computer audio. Doesn't have much range past the desktop. I had purchased this to use in a home entertainment center, but the range wasn't good enough. The signal began cutting out when more than 6 ft away from the adapter.

USB3 ports have limited power and this drive needs double to burn dual layer Blue-ray discs as fast as it does. Laws of physics apply. That said, it's a great little drive.
