Wow, why did we wait so long to upgrade from S3?

This is a great phone! The screen is awesome. The speed (network, bluetooth, and computational) is amazing. We have avoided all the ISP bloatware by using an unlocked version... but Samsung has included a set of their own bloatware (less than the ISPs at least). The only challenge was convincing Verizon to put it on their network (they were very unhelpful in the process, choosing to belittle us as customers... Best Buy on the other hand was GREAT, VERY supportive!). Verizon kept insisting it required a 3FF sim card (it uses a 4FF). In the end we (Best Buy staff) simply installed a 4FF in the S8+ claiming it was a sim upgrade in the old S3 phone, and let the network "discover" that it is an S8+. The phone works great!

better grip in hand compared to earlier versions

This has always been a great case from a great company. The current design has nicely improved the ease of installation (trivial compared to the battle of the S3's version), and the grip in hand (less chance of dropping the phone now). My only concern is if it will do enough to protect the front face, as the "edge" on this phone means there is less rubber sticking up to protect the long sides of the phone (not a case problem, but an issue of the phone's design).

This is a bit tricky to install, but if you take your time and follow the directions, the results are great. Give it a full 24-36 hours for the film to dry, and be sure to "work the edges" to keep them down while drying. Don't panic if you see minor bubbles/deformity in the film prior to its curing, in our experience in the end these disappear for a great result.

It is very nice to have a stand that charges the phone. Its charging is indeed fast. The only downside is that when charging there is a minor amount of fan noise, though not enough to hear it over life's background sounds.

This phone is a solid product. Its battery life is vastly improved over the earlier S3. The water & dust exclusion rating gives a sense of security. It charges very quickly. The inclusion of a microSD slot increases its flexibility. The two downsides are that the battery is not user replaceable and that both Samsung and Verizon load so much bloatware onto the phone.
