Decent for an old-school non-smartphone

So Nokia has brought an updated version of its candybar phone to modern carrier networks. We'd wanted to get a really basic phone for our oldest kid so if something came up at an extracurricular activity they'd have a way to contact us. We didn't want a smartphone and then deal with all of the distractions and unwanted apps that come with those. Not many dumb-phones seem to exist for US carriers these days.
We got the Nokia, charged it up, and realized it needed a micro-SIM - something that our local shop didn't stock so we had to go to an actual ATT store. We got some funny looks for having such a limited-functionality device, but it works fine for our needs.
Call quality is good enough to make calls.
Battery life is great - can be on standby for days or weeks.
Texting is better than expected with the US dictionary. Type the numbers corresponding to the letters you want to type and word suggestions appear. I don't think this can be customized, but you can opt for the older T9 texting if you want.
Photos - it's a 2MP camera. Good enough to capture a reminder or some basic photo, but not to replace a real camera.
MP3 Player - if you add a microSD card to the phone you can use it to play MP3s as well. Nice, but we haven't tried too much there.

Overall - it does pretty much what we want it to do and no more. I didn't buy it to be a smartphone and don't expect it to compete with those devices. It does make calls and let you send/receive messages. It also isn't a device that's going to distract you a lot from the people around you.

Great movie for Peanuts fans

In this age of constantly remaking everyone's childhood memories into something "new", it's refreshing to see that this movie stays largely faithful to the Peanuts classics we remember. Charlie Brown still has trouble getting ahead. Snoopy still has wild adventures (and we can't tell what he's thinking). The gang still has their character traits from the comics. There's no back story provided to introduce the characters. We just have Charlie Brown being himself and that's a good thing. We can laugh at the silly situations, empathize with Charlie Brown's failures and successes, and ultimately cheer for him at the end of the movie. For Peanuts fans, this was a great movie and was well worth seeing. I'd highly recommend it to anyone who grew up reading or watching Charlie Brown and friends.

Good portable doc scanner

We had one of these before, but needed to get a replacement because the on-board USB connector broke due to a pretty bad fall while the cable was attached. However, it worked really well for a portable scanner and was worth replacing. It handles duplex scans in BW, Greyscale, or color and can scan to an SD card if needed. It can easily be connected to a PC through a MicroUSB connection.
The scanner claims to be wireless, but this is only if you connect your computer to the scanner as an access point. It doesn't mean that you can join the scanner to your network and use it that way. I've never tried this because it's easier just to scan to SD card or use the MicroUSB connection.

I prefer medium roast coffee roasts and the Hawaiian Blend is a pretty good, smooth medium roast blend for Keurig brewers. I tried it as part of the variety pack and liked it enough to get an 18 pack. I found that those were going quickly because my daughter was using them as well.

Picked this up on sale, hoping to use it with a gaming console. It didn't work for that, but works great for everything else. This will replace a 32GB drive I used to carry with me for quite a few tasks. Worth it to me as I can carry several larger files on this without too much trouble. The combination was worth the price to me. We have a DVD player at home (Blu-Ray will come when we need a new player). The movie came with Disney's digital service so we could link that to various accounts and play the movie through several different streaming options in addition to playing on DVD or Blu-Ray. Will this work with the Wii U to hold games?
I tried it with a Wii, but it didn't work with the older hardware there (not many larger capacity USB flash drives will). I think there are websites out there that can give you some idea of whether or not this will work, but your better bet is to spend a similar amount on a USB 2.0/3.0 hard drive like a Seagate Backup Plus. You'd have higher capacity and still get reasonable speeds.

Timer question revised
Let me try asking my original question another way.
I want to be able to set the timer on the microwave for 10 minutes while I boil a potato on the stove. While that timer is counting down those 10 minutes I want to cook frozen veggies for 6 minutes.
Can the timer work as a timer while the microwave is cooking?
My current (and all my previous) microwave oven can/could do this. This is an extremely important feature for me. I wish to find a mid-size microwave that can run the timer as the time while also cooking. In other words, be able to use the microwaves timer as a timer while food is cooking, thus they are separate functions that can function at the same time.
Please advise.

how do you reheat dinner on a plate for 2 minutes????
Seems like this microwave is too complicates for us. If we put food on plate, put in microwave, close door, punch in 2, press start, then it runs for 2 seconds only and shuts off, so dinner does not get reheated. Our old microwave was simple hat way; just punch in number of minutes nd Start. It even has a 30 second button. This microwave is useless to us if we don't get help.
Punch in 200 to show 2:00 on the screen and hit start - or hit the 30 second button 4 times. There are a handful of reheat options that could be useful as well - I'd recommend looking at the manual for details there.

how is the webcam quality?
We've had no issues with the webcam quality. I don't think it's HD, but it works well when we use Skype or Google Hangouts to video call people in another state. It seems responsive enough for our uses and works well in indoor lighting.
