Armed with his magic shears, no thread, cloth or pattern was too hard for him to tackle. One day, a fleet of flying sailing ships filled with Skeleton Pirates appeared overhead. The ships were loaded with a plundered cargo of golden yarn from fortune-telling soothsayers. The pirates' leader demanded that Short Cut create a magical hat that would tell him the futures of everyone in Skylands — or else. Unwilling to see his work used for evil, Short Cut climbed aboard the ship in the middle of the night and sewed the pants and shirts of the sleeping pirates together. He then used his magical shears to cut the sails and wrap them around the ship, so the pirates couldn't escape. Short Cut's actions were noticed by Master Eon, and he was made part of the Trap Team, where he now wields powerful Traptanium Shears to cut evil's future short.
