Good entry level for small spaces
on April 8, 2024
Posted by: bc3tech
This Roomba is, in my opinion, aimed at entry-level users of a robotic vacuums. While it's nice that it has mopping capabilities as well as vacuuming, it is not "smart" in the sense that you can have it mop or vacuum based on surface detection. Instead, you are left setting it to mop *OR* vacuum, and instructed to *manually block off* carpeted areas with obstacles when you want it to mop your hard floors. Not convenient at all, which is why we have robot vacuums anyway, right? Convenience?
Control is done via an app which is nice, but very minimal - only "vacuum and mop" or "vacuum only" and even then it's the *entire area* that the bot can get to. Which leads me to the next point, this botvac is only good for smaller areas as its dust bin fills up otherwise, and there is no included emptying station. So, you're left with decreasing collection on your floors as it goes on. I would estimate, depending on level of cleanliness, you could get max 1000sqft out of this thing - doing daily scheduled cleanings - before you're filling the dust bin and losing efficacy.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Worthwhile upgrade, app & device - NO MORE HUB!
on November 30, 2023
Posted by: bc3tech
Gen 2 of the Arlo doorbell provides quite a few nice upgrades over Gen 1:
* NO MORE SMART HUB! YAY!! Arlo finally figured out people know how to manage their own wifi and you're no longer tied to the abysmal coverage of their "Smart" Hub. Now that I don't have to use it, the connection to my doorbell is rock-solid through my mesh network. This means no more "scrambled" pictures coming through like with Gen1
* Upgraded picture quality - 2k picture quality means you have a larger field of view than with Gen1 and can also see more detail.
The doorbell, of course, is best used w/ Arlo's subscription which enables person/package recognition and is required if you get more than 3 Arlo devices up and running.
Additionally w/ the Gen2 doorbell, Arlo refreshed their app tremendously. So far I am liking the ability to create a custom dashboard w/ my own "widgets" (cameras, etc.) of various sizes so I can see what I want to see at a quick glance.
The other nice thing about the new Gen2 is it comes with Doorbell wire extensions - this was required for me as the wires to my doorbell are extremely brittle and I've barely any left after monkeying w/ the Gen1 doorbell more than a few times over the years.
My only complaint with this doorbell is that upgrading over Gen1 means new holes in your house; they didn't make it fit the same footprint/hole template as Gen1. This is a bit of a miss in my opinion as there's really no reason the holes couldn't have been in the same place, despite needing a new, larger, mounting bracket.

Amazing battery life, design/software downfalls
on October 25, 2023
Posted by: bc3tech
As a Pixel phone & Pixel Buds user, I was excited to get the Google Pixel watch and round out the trifecta. Initially I was skeptical of the look of the watch as I prefer a more "professional" looking wristpiece and this is clearly geared toward the fitness/health folks - especially with its obviously-close development with Fitbit. Nevertheless, the watch has impressed me in some ways while disappointing me in others.
To start, the crown is *amazingly* smooth and navigates the OS with ease. It's not hard to roll at all. However, the upper button is very hard to push effectively, and its behavior can't be customized (or at least not that I've found) - it's hard-wired to just launching a screen showing you your recent apps. On my previous Android Wear device, I had two additional buttons which could be customized and I enjoyed this functionality heavily. This is a miss in both design and software.
Google decided to get so far in bed with Fitbit here that they completely changed their charging mechanism; you're now left with a 4-pin connector that has only *one* proper orientation: coming out the side of the crown. This design is immeasurably poor for obvious reasons and takes us right back to the days of putting USB cables in upside down, etc. Definitely could have done better here. This also means all of your Pixel Watch (1) charging accessories no longer work. However I have found that chargers compatible with Fitbit Sensa will work for the Watch 2 (at least until the market shores up).
Lastly, Wear 3 has been a disappointment since release for me - so much so that I refused the upgrade on my previous Android watch so I could continue to have table-stakes functionality between watch and a phone: Shared Timers and Alarms. Instead, in Wear 3+, Google thought it best to completely separate these two things, so an alarm on your phone won't play on your watch (and vice versa) and a timer set on your watch won't play on your phone (and vice versa). Completely nonsensical IMO.
I have been impressed by the aftermarket selection of bands, however, and have already upgraded the OEM one to a metal link one which gives the watch a more professional look, which I enjoy.
If you can get past the design and software flaws, it's a great watch. The battery life is insane - lasting 48hr without a problem and charging lightning fast - so it's the first smartwatch I've been able to wear to bed to do sleep tracking! The sleep tracking metrics line up pretty close with what my Sleep Number bed reports, so its sensors are pretty decent.
The watch also comes with 6mo of FitBit Premium for free; while I'm not a health nut, I have enjoyed the ability to get stats like O2, heart rate, and - when sleeping - oxygen fluctuations that can point to signs of sleep apnea. Additionally, it also has built-in fall detection. I do wish Fitbit wouldn't have such a closed off ecosystem as I have a smart scale that I cannot link, unfortunately.

Impressive Customization and a Few Caveats
on October 25, 2023
Posted by: bc3tech
Overall, the Razer BlackWidow V4 75% is an impressive keyboard. Razer’s Orange tactile switches feel very responsive and sound great right out of the box. If you aren’t a fan of tactile switches, the keyboard comes with a keycap and switch puller which allows you to hot swap the original switches with both 3 and 5-pin switches. Since I’m not a fan of tactile switches, I swapped mine out for Gateron’s linear “Oil Kings.” They feel really smooth and sound pretty great on the BlackWidow as well. The only downside is that the Oil Kings block the RGB from the keyboard’s PCB, however the RGB on the media buttons and the side lighting still look great, nonetheless. The BlackWidow comes with a wrist rest that magnetically attaches to the keyboard. It’s exceptionally soft and feels comfortable to type on. The media keys are very convenient, and the roller is a nice touch for controlling volume whenever I need it. However, the mute button and roller can be remapped to do lots of other different actions using Razer Synapse. Even though the marketing boasts about customizability, if you want to mod the keyboard beyond keycaps and switches, be aware that taking the actual keyboard apart will void your warranty.

Discover smooth skin up to 4 weeks without the use of chemicals or wax, even sensitive areas. Epilation provides longer lasting results than shaving. When comparing with the cost of salon waxing sessions over a year, you’ll save thousands of dollars by epilating. Philips Epilator Series 8000 (BRE700) is designed to use on the legs and body. It now has more hair removal power, with faster and more stable disc rotation than ever.

Modern twist on a medieval classic
on October 19, 2023
Posted by: bc3tech
Holy smokes - I hope you know what you're in for!
In case you just saw "hair removal" and thought this was your typical shaver, you are dead wrong.
This device whirls and twirls and RIPS YOUR HAIR OUT. It, no kidding, feels like a thousand tiny shocks as your roll it over your leg, arm, or - God forbid - anywhere else.
If you're not up for a wild ride in the realm of hair removal, you might want to look elsewhere. But if you've got the guts and are ready to embrace the "no pain, no gain" mantra or you're the type who thrives on the adrenaline rush of regular tattoo sessions, then you're in for a treat with this epilator. Think of it as a pain-inflicting artist, sculpting your body, leaving nothing but that coveted baby-smooth skin behind.
The epilator's performance is nothing short of impressive. It doesn't just cut hair; it plucks it out from the root. Yes, it can be a bit shocking at first, but the results are worth it. Hair regrowth takes longer, and when it does, it's softer. Smooth legs and arms for days, and the upkeep is minimal.
Now, let's talk about ease of use. This isn't your "grab-and-go" device. It takes some practice to get the hang of it, and you may need a few passes to get all the hair. Not the quickest method out there, but with time and patience, you'll become a pro.
The pain factor is real. There's no sugarcoating it. It's like a rollercoaster of tiny zaps, especially if you're using it in sensitive areas. However, it's a pain that some of us willingly endure for the reward of hairless skin. It's all about your pain threshold and the desire for long-lasting results.
In conclusion, this epilator is not for the faint-hearted. It's a no-nonsense hair removal machine that delivers on its promise of smooth skin. If you're willing to brave the initial shock and put in some practice, you'll be rewarded with longer-lasting results and softer regrowth. Just remember, no pain, no gain – and in this case, the gain is silky-smooth skin that's worth the temporary discomfort. So, are you up for the challenge?

Stylish and Practical

Exposing the magsafe in a stylish way is great. I can leave my case on while charging w/ my magsafe stand with no issues whatsoever.
The case strikes a nice balance with its grip. It's not too slippery, thanks to a slightly textured surface, but not too grippy either. Holding my iPhone 15 Pro feels secure without feeling like I'm holding onto sandpaper.
It fits like a glove and with the MagSafe compatibility, I can snap on accessories without taking it off. No fumbling around with this case. I've already added an external battery & never have an issue with it falling off while charging my phone at the same time.
The iridescent finish is a head-turner. It adds a bit of flair to my phone without going overboard. The slim design keeps my iPhone looking sleek, though it can attract fingerprints, but a quick wipe does the trick.
In a nutshell, the ZAGG Milan Snap case for the iPhone 15 Pro strikes a great balance between style and practicality. It feels good in the hand, fits perfectly, and looks slick. Highly recommended for anyone who wants both protection and pizzazz for their iPhone.

Easy application, solid results
on October 19, 2023
Posted by: bc3tech
Zagg continues to be the premium screen protection provider in my household. The focus they now put on making it as easy as possible for you to apply your protector without throwing your hands in the air and having to buy another one has been a most welcome pivot in the industry.
This protector comes with *everything* you need! You get an alignment frame, alcohol wipes, and a microfiber cloth. The frame has two holes at the top and bottom which you align with the screen during application and then simply press on, and peel off the outer layer. DONE!
It really couldn't be any simpler than Zagg has made it, and the screen is invisible to the naked eye, especially if you add a case to your iPhone afterward. If you don't, there will be a small ridge around the entire edge of your screen, but it's hardly an eyesore.
Don't let the picture fool you, though, there's no color variation or gradient present on the glass itself, so you're still left with the great-looking screen you paid for!!!

High-Performance Laptop with Room for Improvement

Everything on this computer runs smoothly, I was able to crank up the graphics settings on Valorant to the max, and it ran the same as before.
The higher hertz (120hz) was definitely noticeable compared to the old 60hz I was running on.
The Nvidia graphics card is nice since it comes with all the Nvidia software that can be used for clipping gameplay.
My only major complaint about this computer is the lack of RAM, as it only has 8GB of RAM. This has definitely been noticeable in gameplay, where I will frequently lag when I did not lag on my old computer. Where I notice this most is when I try to open a third-party Minecraft client that I use a lot. On my old computer, the 16GB of RAM would let me have both Valorant and this Minecraft client open at the same time, while on this computer, I can’t even open the client and it crashes once fully loaded, because of this I usually have to switch which computer I am using depending on what game I want to play - Valorant on this computer, Minecraft on the other - which is really inconvenient considering I have to plug everything in again. I do know that the RAM is upgradeable, and I will be upgrading it soon, but the lack of it that comes with the PC is definitely annoying. Overall, a pretty good computer, and the change of graphics and smoothness of my gameplay are noticeable in a good way, on the other hand, the lack of RAM that comes with the computer is noticeable in a bad way, but is upgradeable so the issue can be solved for an extra $30-$100 depending on how much you want/need.

Goes through supplies rapidly

If you get this unit with plans to use it regularly, or on areas larger than ~10ft x 10ft, purchase additional cleaning mixture now.
After doing a 10x10 area rug in one room and a bedroom that likely amounts to the same sqft, I am completely out of the main cleaning solution - which only lasted 2 full tanks.
That said, the unit did a great job of cleaning these areas and I greatly appreciated the ability to change it to a "quick dry" mode which does suction only, ensuring I got the carpets as dry as possible before resuming use of the room.
The handheld attachment with the oxy-based solution worked well to clean up spots on my couch and a couple of places my dog had dirtied up on the carpets. The stains/marks all came out with ease. I do wish, however, that I could use the oxy solution in the main tank for some extra cleaning power.
I did have some issues w/ the unit while using it on carpets where the suction wasn't pulling the soap/liquid back out but realized it must've been operator error after I took apart the front brush area for cleaning; must not have put it back tightly/completely so the suction couldn't function properly.
Hose & cord management is also good, which I appreciate from a design perspective.

Initial hiccups but enjoying it now
on October 4, 2023
Posted by: bc3tech
My Litra had some initial software issues after installing Logitech's GHub software. It wouldn't show me any UI or control capabilities for my Litra and when I did have it working for a few minutes, didn't detect the Litra at all. However, I ended up contacting customer support and they walked me through some quite low-level clearing-out of the Software followed by a reinstall. After this, things are working well.
The device itself is *very* sleek which I appreciate, and - at its maximum height - sits enough over my 24" ultrawide monitor that it lights up my face decently when I'm on camera.
Controls for the light via the GHub software are intuitive and offer a very wide variety of customization options. However, the simple ability for the Litra to automatically turn on the front-facing white light when my camera is in use is a game-changer for me. My dimly-lit home office is no longer a problem! Now when I take a conference call the light turns on automatically and shuts off when I'm finished. PERFECTION.
I also appreciate the Litra is able to be used completely via Bluetooth so it doesn't take up another USB port on my system and add another set of cords to my desktop. The built-in cord management also makes keeping the aesthetic pleasant easy.

Great phone with a few quirks
By 1tsatrap from Morehead City, NC
I bought this phone for personal use after having an Android phone for the past two years. When I came over I knew that I would have to re-purchase a lot of apps and that I was going to lose a lot of Google integration. Here are the main points I found coming over from Android to this phone:
Speed:
This thing is fast compared to the Android phone I had before and a lot of other much newer Android phones I have played with. The UI for Windows Phone 8 is smooth and responsive with no delay. Also, this thing gets 3 out of 5 bars of LTE service where my HTC Thunderbolt was only getting 1 bar out of 5 before.
Software:
App selection in the Windows App Store is pretty good. I was surprised to see the majority of the apps I used on Android available in one form or another on the Windows phone. Unfortunately what was missing was the stuff I used the most. This phone has no voice guided navigation unless you like using VZ Navigator for $2 a month. The Nokia phones use something called Nokia HERE but there is no such app for this HTC phone. The only option is a directions list that comes up on 3/4 of the screen under a tiny map. I travel a lot so this is a deal breaker for me that I didn't realize until I had used the phone for a few days. Otherwise I just miss my Google applications (drive, voice, currents, etc.) which is something to consider for anyone thinking about switching.
Look and feel:
Fantastic. This thing is built to be solid. At the bottom edge there's a slight gap between the polycarbonate and the screen where you can see light but it might just be a defect on the phone I have. My only complaint here is that the Micro USB charging slot is on the bottom of the phone which is where I usually put the weight of the phone on my pinky. If you're prone to holding and using this phone with one hand then make sure it's comfortable for you! My pinky is starting to rub raw where the polycarbonate stops and the charging port begins. This also makes it hard to charge the phone in the car right-side-up without using some kind of cradle.
Overall (TLDR):
Great phone with mobile OS growing pains. If it had a free navigation app that actually did turn-by-turn real time navigation then it would make a great daily driver. Know what you're getting and make sure to hold this phone before you commit to it! Also, if you have more than 14GB of music/photos and you actually want to use this phone for media then look at a different phone. 16GB of internal memory with no expandable storage and the OS takes 2GB.

When will this be available? Also can i add more ssd or hd? Finally how loud are the fans? Thank you

When you turn on full Turbo mode, the fans go to max as the GPU and CPU overclock. That said, they are extremely loud in this setting. With normal usage, however, they're not noticeable.

Does this oven emit a lot of heat and is the exterior very hot to the touch?

The top of the unit is considered a "cooling area" and does get hot. The sides and bottom, no. The front glass, yes very hot as well.

What is the Power use? Wattage?

Depends on the function you're using but anywhere from 1400-1800W is what I've observed through my Sense device thus far. I've used toaster, air fryer, reheat, and conventional modes.
