Large house, outside areas may not get satisfactory signal
Signal degrades after about 80ish ft or so (in my experience)

These drives are (1) extremely fast (2) simple to install, just like a normal HDD, if you've had to deal with NAND you know what I mean (3) come with SSD utility, unlike some brands (4) VERY reliable, unlike other "premium" SSD manufacturers I haven't had a single SanDIsk fail...to my clients benefit!

Does the PowerChute software automatically initiate the Windows power-down sequence when the power is interrupted or the battery is low? In other words, will it safely shut down my computer without any user input?
It will, as long as you install the "PowerChute Personal Edition" and plug in USB cable to UPS battery.

How long are the USB and Aux cables?
Not very long, maybe 3 ft or so. Cord length is a little disappointing.

Will the USB power source run off of a 12 volt TV. TV has both a USB port and a 3.5 mm headphone jack.
Can't speak for every TV, but yes it should technically. Just like you should be able to plug phone, tablet charger right into those USB jacks.

I can't imagine why it wouldn't be. The SanDisk drives are very compatible and easy to install. I would suggest upgrading the BIOS first on the Lenovo.

Does it come with Windows installed?
Negative, you'll have to image old OS over to the new drive. You could use a "USB to SATA Coverter" to hook up new SSD HDD, then image over using a software product like "Active@ Disk Image"

Would this work to replace the hard drive in my sons newer Dell 5000?
I have replaced HDDs in Dell Desktops, Laptops, and AIO's...from newer machines to machines 9 years old with no issues. I would recommend updating the BIOS off Dell's support site first, then using a program such as "Active@ Disk Image" to copy all system, utility, Dell Partitions.
