This is my second Nest thermostat. These things are easy to install and very easy to use. I bought this one two years after my first so I had a good deal of time to work with it before expanding my collection. My only additional feature for this thermostat is that it communicate with other devices through Z-Wave protocol so it could be integrated into my alarm panel. Other than that it is awesome.

I had the previous version with the NmH battery and the battery didn't last long at all. This one is great. The charge lasts a long time and the unit has a lot of power.

Can the Nest be used with a Heat Pump?
We have a Heat Pump for heating and cooling, is that compatible with the Nest?
Yes. I have had a Nest controlling a heat pump with electric backup heat for two years now and it works fine.
