The Good.
I chose this camera because most astrophotography software is available for Canon. Canon was smart to share their APIs, and include WiFi.
The camera has an excelente processor for low light. It also takes great stills. It actually is considerably better than Canon 70d for astrophotography!! That was a pleasant surprise.
The low light performance, noise reduction, the sensitivity and extra pixel density, is impressive.
I would not touch any camera at any price if it did not include WiFi (Canon 7DII is an example) that would not allow the user to remotely control the camera. The T6i shines here, while the competition with proprietary solutions pale in comparison to versatility that Canon offers with Canon T6i, M3 and 70D.
Canon DSLR functionality can be extended through third party solutions. Timelapse, remote live view, preprogrammed options, HDR, bracketing and movies and so much more, that allow this camera to behave like a semi-professional one. This was the second surprise.
Quality in low light is better than Sony, Noise reduction works flawlessly. This is why I'm satisfied with this purchase.
The bad.
It's not a camera meant for movies, where the competition trashes it, as they track a subject and refocus on it while it moves. The T6i falls flat here.
Canon, give us a battery that will last more than a couple hours of continuous use at a reasonable price. 50$ is not reasonable. The original is useless, and the power adapter over 100$ is a joke. An 8v 3amp regulated power supply can be bought for considerable less.
Accessories cost an arm and a leg! Canon needs to address this ASAP, if they intend to sell their T6i or T6s inventories.
One advice to Canon, you would gain more loyalty from your consumer base, if you gave the T6i additional options through an update with options found on the 70D. Slow motion photography, more ISO settings, simple file transfer thorough WiFi, K option to set white balance, to name a few. It would go a long way in the market place.
