Good Home Bar Ice Machine

I start the machine about 2 hrs before we have a party down in the wet bar and use it to fill up the ice bucket ahead of time. It only takes about 6-8 minutes to make enough ice for one drink so it keeps us in ice all night. It makes an interesting thimble shaped ice cube that does melt fairly quickly so it's perfect for straight bourbon and watering down stiff drinks to which you would otherwise add water. If you're looking for a large dense ice cube like a freezer would make, it would take quite a bit longer, and this machine wouldn't be for you. It's nice not having to run upstairs to get ice from the refrigerator's ice machine. Overall, it's a handy little gadget, since it is fairly portable.

How long can you hold ice? Is ice stored indefinitely or only for a short period of time?
It is stored in the freezer compartment of the machine, and if it does melt it melts back into the water reservoir to be used again. A pretty neat concept. We have only had it hold ice for about 8 hrs, and shut it down at the end of our parties, and it still kept the ice frozen up until at least then.
