Coming from a Fit Bit Force recall, I was honestly just waiting for Fit Bit to make a new band and was going to get whatever that will be since none of the others really fit what I was looking for, till I found the Garmin.
A year for battery life, amazing. Easy to read and great looking. Extremely comfortable on the wrist and extremely accurate. Ability to wear it while I shower of swim, great. None of the other fitness bands come close to this and I no longer regret sending the Force back for this at the same price.

What's not so great: Hard time syncing wirelessly, the problem is actually with Windows but it's an inconvenience sometimes.

The unit is hard to navigate through settings or control the iPod. None of it really makes sense. We have a brand new iPod cable, and once in a while when the car is started, the music sounds distorted and has static, we have to unplug the iPod from the unit and replug it in for it to work.
The bluetooth works really well and the sound quality is average.

Which heart rate monitor comes with the garmin vivo fit 169.99 combo? is it the elastic band heart monitor or the plastic monitor?
It's both plastic and elastic. The monitor itself across your chest is plastic with a backing so that it's not uncomfortable against your skin. The band has some stretch to it and is adjustable to fit all body types.
