It's OK. I got this as part of a the Geek Squad protection plan. I used it for a week or so and then went back to PC Matic which I'd been using previously. I wish they'd offered a choice of antivirus programs. I don't like getting software I won't use.

Microsoft Windows 10 Update Bug

I had attempted to install a Microsoft Windows 10 update without success. Two calls to Microsoft tech support resulted in Microsoft hanging up on me - TWICE. The result was that Microsoft's efforts to fix the update issue caused my keyboard and mouse to stop functioning. It took a few weeks and two extra trips to Best Buy before the Geek Squad decided to just wipe the hard drive and re-install Windows 10. The e-mail notification process (that the work was completed) needs work - it caused me to make two trips to my local store that were wasted because my system was not ready.

I own a house that’s roughly rectangular in shape. For a lot of reasons, I had to place my Wi-Fi router at one end of the house and that resulted in a very low/nonexistent Wi-Fi signal at the opposite end of the house. I already owned a Nighthawk X8 AC5300 Tri-Band Wi-Fi Router so I wanted something compatible with it. The Netgear Nighthawk X4 Wi-Fi Extender seemed a logical choice since it handled the multi-band router and provided the needed Wi-Fi capacity. Set up was pretty easy but you’ll have to set up each of your Wi-Fi devices to recognize the new transmitter. I don’t know if this will support gaming (I’m not a gamer) but it works well for video streaming. (Your salesperson should be able to help you with this.) I now have great Wi-Fi signal strength throughout my home and even in my back yard. Recommended.

I bought the Garmin - DriveAssist 51 LMT-S 5" GPS primarily because it had two features/capabilities that I was seeking: trip planning and an integral dash camera. I need to visit a number of locations throughout my county every so often and I have a limited amount of time to do so. Previously, I had to locate each address on a map and, after plotting them all, figure out the most efficient order for my route to avoid backtracking and wasted time. That was time-consuming and frustrating. The trip organization function allows me to enter addresses at random and then, with a push of a key, put them into the most efficient order for me to visit. YEA!! The high-definition dash camera was something I’d been wanting. It also provides a certain amount of security by automatically saving imagery in the event of an accident/sudden stop. This is a good feature. Other key features are Forward Proximity warning; lane departure warning; changes in speed limit; and “traffic is moving” alert (so you know when the backed up traffic in front of you finally starts moving because you were killing time doing something else in the car). An nice optional add-on is Garmin’s rear view camera (which must be purchased separately). NOTE: You will have to add a micro SD card for additional map and data storage as none is provided. A 4 GB micro SD card is supplied for the dash camera but I recommend you also replace the provided 4 GB video micro SD card with a larger capacity micro SD card to hold more video. (Make sure you get a card that supports video and not a slow data card.) This GPS device accepts micro SD cards between 4 GB and 64 GB. The higher capacity cards provide more storage for your money. It’s going to take you a while to get familiar with all of the features of this GPS (there are many) so be patient. Unless you live in/visit the “big city” there are a number of features you won’t use but that’s OK with me. I also strongly recommend you purchase a carrying case (none is provided) and be sure it protects the camera lens. You’ll also want to buy an AC power adapter so you can charge it and/or load trip information without being in your car. I bought my case and AC adapter from Garmin’s web site because I couldn’t find them at my Best Buy. Also, if you already own another Garmin GPS, you can transfer your favorites to the new GPS via the My Garmin web site. Recommended.

Why won't this gps work with windows 7? The message is that the device will not charge with the supplied device-to-usb cord. Also, the device is not recognized by Garmin Express. Thanks for the help.
To get it to charge from your computer, you need to select Data Transfer Mode when you first plug it in otherwise it won't charge. I had the same problem and checked on the Garmin.com web page's knowledge base for the answer. I have Windows 10 so I can't help you on the Windows 7 question. You may have to manually enter your device's information into Garmin Express. If that doesn't work, contact Garmin's customer service by phone.

I just used a Driveassist-51 for the first time but when I went to check the dash-cam footage on my laptop, the recording of a 50 minute drive was divided into 50 x 1-minute files. Is there a way record for longer than 60-seconds in a single file?
I have not found a way to record segments for more than 1 minute. I believe "incidents" are recorded in separate files which may be more than 1 minute but it depends on how you set up incident recording options. If you put in a micro SD card larger than 4 GB into the camera slot, you'll be able to record more segments but I doubt that a larger capacity micro SD card will record longer segments.
