Noisy and Full of Bloatware!

We were in need of a replacement PC and the specs on this made it look like it was going to be great. It was fast and great at first, but after the first week, things began to slow down. Very sloooow. Windows 10 isn't much help with forcing itself to update constantly. The "free trials" on this machine are simply bloatware to bog down the operations. The fan sounds like an aircraft taking off with just simply opening up a web browser! I'm scared to even think of what the most simple video operation would entail. This machine has soured the name of Hewlitt Packard in my mind, even for a bargain machine. Skip.

A Decent "Wireless" Solution

Getting those rear surround speakers powered can be a challenge, but Rocketfish has a decent solution. This module allows you to not strand cable from your player to the rear of the room, but send the signal to a rear receiver then to your speakers. This was purchased to replace an older version we had for about 5 years that died on us. This newer one has rocker switches that are a lot nicer than buttons you had to hold down previously. If they can increase the signal strength, that would be nice.

As the old one became unsafe due to loose sockets, this was priced right for a start. A month and a half later and no complaints yet. Frankenstein (1931) and Bride of Frankenstein had their high definition debut several years ago. While they are included on this set, the real meat is in the sequels (Son of Frankenstein, Ghost of Frankenstein, House of Frankenstein, and House of Dracula). All of the sequels have been remastered. All look really good with the updated transfers. Son of Frankenstein (1939) is here with additional footage that has not been seen on home video.
The added definition really makes the original photography shine and creates a great viewing experience. Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein is included on this set as well.

Good Movie for Halloween

I picked this up because this Best Buy exclusive was on sale for $7.99. I didn't have it on DVD but there is no doubt that this bare bones blu ray beats the look of the other formats that this title has been available on. The scope picture looks nice, the sound good and the low price just tops it off. I suggest getting a copy while the price is still crazy-low at $7.99 or even $9.99 as this exclusive is bound to become unavailable quickly. It is nice to have it for our annual Halloween season viewing.

Universal upgrades the original DVD collection with this HD set. However, it is a missed opportunity as the set contains no extras. While almost each film in this collection has received a special edition with extras overseas, you get 8 movies in this set for the price of importing a single title. While the aspect ratios are off for some of the titles, the picture has not looked as sharp. If found for $40 or under, it is worth the price.

Classic Movie Remastered

I owned the DVD since it came out in the early 2000's, but upon seeing the remastered 3D version at a theatrical venue last October, I had to get the blu ray. This remastered version of House of Wax looks great for a film over 50 years old. The 3D, as seen in the theater, adds depth to the movie and not just "in your face" gimmicks. Highly recommended.
