I had previously heard the opening track "Castle" thanks to The Huntsman movie trailer which prompted me to seek out this album. I was very impressed with the varied and unique sound Halsey brings to her songs. Every track is different and evokes a wide range of emotions something not many singers can pull off nowadays. "New Americana" and "Haunting" are some of my favorites as well as the previously mentioned "Castle".
Overall, a solid debut from Halsey and I look forward to her next release.
Before listening to this I was only casually familiar with Coheed and Cambria. I haden't gotten around to checking out their previous albums but I was familiar with the song "Welcome Home" which just happens to be the opener for this release. Wanting to hear some of their other tracks I bought this on a whim and I'm glad I did. "We Are Juggernaut", "The Running Free", and "Pearl of the Stars" are now some of my favorites but overall I liked the entire setlist.
I will note a few of the tracks are edited including the first track which what keeps it from a five star rating. Despite this, I found this to be a solid introduction to a great band whose albums I fully intend to check out thanks to this best of.
