The new Multi-Touch subsystem in the new iPad 9.7" and iPad Pro gives Apple Pencil striking capabilities alongside pixel perfect precision. Using incredibly sensitive pressure and tilt sensors, Apple Pencil instantly recognizes when you are pressing harder or shifting its angle. So you can vary line weight, create subtle shading, and produce a wide range of artistic effects — just like with a conventional pencil.

Great stylus. Works so well with the iPad Pro. I use it for writing, so I can't comment on its artistic merit.
I did purchase a magnetized cover for it to keep it with the iPad, since otherwise it's difficult to keep it with the iPad since there is no loop or magnet to do so by default.

I bought this iPad for myself to replace a larger MacBook Pro. For this purpose, it fulfills 80-90% of its goal.
First, with the keyboard and pencil, it is basically a laptop replacement. I was able to write my thesis on the tablet and only had to go to the laptop for formatting adjustments.
And the battery lasts forever. I can go a fulll day and still have 30%+ on my battery after using it all day long.
Standalone (without network connectivity), I can do basic work such as document editing, email, etc. Also, I can do light software development work via Dringend and Continuous.
When I'm connected, I can do anything as I would on a laptop since I can just connect to a computer remotely.
Where it breaks down is really the fault of the software, not the tablet itself. The software versions of most of my programs aren't as feature full as the desktop versions. For example, Word doesn't have paragraph spacing on the iPad. These are minor, but frustrating when necessary.
If you know that the software you use is good enough, then it will work. Otherwise, you might want to get a MacBook or some other small laptop that has the full functionality.
