Pedestals are essential, but we had a few issues

The pedestals are fantastic and essential, in my opinion. They are roomy and make the front loaders high enough that you don't have to bend down each time you transfer from the washer to the dryer. They store lots of items, so we can keep them off of the tops of the machines -- looks nicer.
That said, however, we had difficulty with the installations. The gas dryer installers (certified in gas) came without the pedestal. The washing machine truck came with both pedestals, but they couldn't install it because they said the gas dryer has to be turned on its side, so we had to schedule another appointment for the gas man to return. When he did, he said all that had to be done was lift it up and then attach it when lying on the floor. After all of that, it made a loud clicking sound when closing it because it was sagging in the middle (manufacturing defect) and kept hitting the bottom lip of the dryer. We finally had a third person come and identify the problem. And then a fourth time to have the new pedestal installed. Whew. Now it's fine and we're happy.

Nice washing machine

This Whirlpool beats the heck out of the Samsung that we used to have -- the Samsung washer started smoking and almost caused a fire in the house! The Whirlpool is attractive and modern looking. The capacity is good -- can fit a lot in. Even the medium spin cycle effectively dries the clothes. Only complaint is that it is on the noisy side at various parts of the wash cycle.

Dry clothes quickly and efficiently in this Whirlpool gas dryer. Tap Touch controls store your most recent settings so you can quickly start the next load, and Steam Refresh removes odors and wrinkles even if you don't wash clothes first. This Whirlpool gas dryer is big enough for large loads but small enough to fit under the counter.

This Whirlpool dryer works well. Haven't yet used all of its features (steam refresh), though. It allows you to change the default settings if you prefer drier clothes or if they are coming out too dry -- a good feature. Getting the pedestal is a good idea...it stores a lot.
