I shopped for a thermostat for months. Was going to go with the Nest, but after the abysmal experience with their security camera, I decide to go with the EcoBee. The setup was super easy through my Pixel. I like the copy feature for the schedules and the fact that I can add additional sensors is awesome. I have sensors in my bedroom and living room and I can actively monitor them through the app on my phone. You can setup reminders to change your filter and other thermostat related notifications. I love that I can change the temp from my bed, through the app, if I decide I don't want to get out of bed when the schedule changes. Long story short, awesome thermostat.

So I had been shopping for TV's for a few months now and had been to Best Buy numerous times to look at the Samsung KS8500, Sony XBR-55X850D and the LG OLED. I was ready to purchase the LG when I asked one of associates to talk me out of it. He took me to an end cap where they had just unpacked a returned Samsung KS9500 and hooked a Blu-ray player up to it for me and threw in "X-Men: Days of Future Past". I was immediately blown away!
Don't believe any of the hype about blacks on this TV vs. an OLED...they are simply amazing. When I got the TV home, I hooked it up to my Nvidia Shield and started streaming Netflix. Yes, the KS9500 has the Netflix app built in, but I love the Nvidia Shield and it's UI. The content looked great (I have a 100mbit fiber connection, so the stream is really high quality) and was a marked improvement over my 12 year old Samsung DLP (that BTW with a lamp change was still going strong). I thought, it's better, but it didn't blow me away. So I watched the entire first season of Bloodline, fiddling with the various picture modes and expert settings. I found the settings that suited me perfectly. Mind you, these aren't color-corrected, hyper-accurate setting, but they looked fine to me. I might get ambitious and hook my Spyder5 up to it one day, but for now I'm enjoying the TV too much
So I finished season one of Bloodline and was getting ready to move onto season two when I realized I hadn't watched anything but Netflix on my new TV. So I dug out my Toy Story 3 Blu-ray and threw that in my PS3. OMG!!! I literally got chills watching Toy Story 3 on my new KS9500. Now I had to try other Blu-rays...Avatar, Dead Pool, Captain America: Civil War, Shooter, American Sniper...every one of them blew my mind. I was literally taking photos of the image on the TV and sending them to my friends...who got sick of that pretty quickly at 11:30pm on a school night.
Long story short, buy the TV. My only complaint thus far has been the remote, which sporadically works when streaming using the included apps, though it is pretty sporadic. I completely alleviated this issue by purchasing a Harmony Home Companion remote, which BTW was another awesome purchase. This TV is spectacular. Oh yeah...the sound is pretty good too, though after the first listen, I immediately started pumping the audio through my Yamaha receiver and Monitor Audio speakers. I have not been able to test the 4k performance as I don't have anyway to play 4k content other than streaming and that still isn't as good as off a disc.
Buy the TV. If you're a movie buff like me, it will immediately improve your viewing experience and make you want to wait for the movie to be released in 4k or on Blu-ray and curl up on your own couch, with an adult beverage, knowing that the only phone that will be going off during your movie...is yours.
