Works well, but some design flaws

I haven't had any issues with the tripod not being sturdy enough or breaking. I have actually found quite the opposite to be true. I love the quick release plate that allows me to mount and dismount my camera very quickly. The only thing I don't really care for all that much is the level placement. No matter how I screw my camera on, the level ends up under the camera where I can't really see it. This could (somehow) be something I'm doing wrong, but a feature I was excited about now seems pretty pointless. Still, though, it does what I want in the long run: keep the camera steady for long exposures, etc.

Excellent Pictures Right Out of the Box

If you chose to treat this camera like an expensive point and shoot, you would still be getting pictures that are amazing right out of the camera. But treating it as such would be a great disservice to yourself because once you start testing out the various manual modes, you can really see a difference in the quality of pictures. There are multiple adjustments you can make (exposure level, white balance, portrait vs landscape) giving you a true fluidity in the types of pictures you can take. Some of these are readily visible in the viewfinder, but there is an extensive list of choices via the menu you can pull up on the live screen. The menu is incredibly similar to the menu choices on my 11+ year old Canon point and shoot so if you're already used to Canon, there isn't as great a learning curve. However, there are so many functions and options that it may still take a while to remember where you can find something again. Overall, though, there is a lot of growing room for photographers with this camera.
What made the camera even more exciting for me is the high quality lens that came with it. It is one of the luxury level lens. Heavier (a bit difficult to get used to that around your neck, newbies!), but I have been able to take great macro photos of bees, clouds in the distance, and people-pleasing portraits in between. If you are a beginner photographer, you can probably grow for quite a while with this lens before you even have to worry about purchasing more.
All in all, while it is an expensive purchase, it's incredibly serviceable, durable, high quality, and excellent for growing your technique!

Yes, you will need a computer. The tablet really just enables you to draw electronically (as opposed to drawing and then scanning into a computer, etc). So you're "drawing" on the tablet with the provided stylus, but the picture is showing up on the computer screen in whatever program you are using. You won't see it when you look down at the tablet. I'm not sure if you would be able to use something like an ipad or similar device in place of a computer. I've never tried.
