Great inexpensive inkjet printer/scanner/fax

I'm a current Brother printer user. I have the MFC-J4620DW and I'm really happy with it. It's hooked up to my main desktop via lan/usb/wifi. So when I got the MFC-J895DW, I knew it was going to work for me. I set it up tonight with the intention of running my laptops and mac mini to it wirelessly. I first tried my main desktop and it couldn't see it. I checked the settings in the printer and tada, I needed to setup wifi with my network. After that, I tried again and the software saw the printer. That said, it takes a long time to install the software. I did this one with the cd and once I was finally done, a brother update popped up and I had to update two pieces of software. It did them separately, but really quick.
I then installed it on my Windows laptop. I used the download link in the instructions as the laptop doesn't have an optical drive. I figured at least I would be the latest version and could skip the update. Nope, same thing...forever to install and two quick updates.
Lastly the mac mini. I have the upgraded 2013 model with the latest Os X Mojave installed. The software was a download from the link in the instructions and it saw the latest operating system with no issue. As is with Macs, it was a much faster install. Once it was done, I opened Microsoft Word and picked a template. I sent it to print and it worked great, but it did have a long lag time. Not sure if that's normal or just a fluke. Either way, at least I now have a dedicated wifi printer to use with these three pcs as well as my Pixel and Android tablets.
Lastly, one thing I love about Brother printers is the ink is reasonable. Color ink is around $15 for 500 sheets and black a bit less. One think that this model doesn't have that my old one does it the ability to pay a bit more and buy a cartridge that does 1200 sheets. Bummer, but not a reason to pass on this model. It does however hold 150 sheets in the tray, so that's a plus. If you need a cheap wifi printer, this is a good choice.

Couple of issues, but picks up great

WHAT'S IN THE BOX: The unit comes assembled except for the handle. The handle requires a phillips head screwdriver for the two screws that attach it to the base. It also contains the flex hose, extension wand, brush tool, pet turboeraser tool, a Febreze filter and a crevice tool.
ASSEMBLY: I had to look for a minute or two to find where the handle screws went. Looking down at the handle towards the floor, the two holes are on either side and drop in 3/4's of the way. Then it's just a few turns of the screwdriver. The turboeraser has a spot on the front of the handle and the brush goes in the back. You insert and turn the base for the extension wand and it snaps into place. The crevice tool is another story. The assembly manual doesn't mention it in the assembly, so I take a look at the box. There is a spot for another tool next to the extension wand, but the crevice tool is too long and doesn't fit. The picture on the box shows a different style tool and it too is cockeyed and looks to be tucked in between the flex hose and extension wand. Every time I tried to store it that way, it fell off the base. I ended up sticking it in the extension wand.
CONS: For me, I like a headlight on my vacuum and this unit doesn't have one. The unit is a push model and doesn't self propel. Unlike my Shark that is a push model also, but it tends to move forward with much effort.
PRO: Great suction. I live in the desert and my carpet tends to have fine sand in it. No matter how often I vacuum, I'll see some sand in the canister. I did just the living room (15 x 20) and I could see a fair amount of really fine sand. I had the unit on 1 as my carpet is a low/medium pile, but I wanted to see how much dirt it could lift. I was pleasantly surprised. The cord rewind for the power cord is a nice touch and makes ending the job convenient. I hope it's constructed well to last! Lastly for me the unit seemed less noisy than my current
Shark vacuum stick. Maybe because I had the front door open, but it worked for me.
I did insert the Febreze filter and it is fairly strong. If anything, it gives you a spare filter. Overall I'm very pleased with the Bissell Cleanview vacuum. I recommend it to anyone with pets or my neighbors who struggle with living in the desert!

Pretty solid unit

UNBOXING: There are just a few parts, the motor (handheld vacuum), wand, Zero-M cleaner head, crevice tool, pet/upholstery tool, wall mount, and precision duster. Be careful unboxing and throwing out the packaging as the cardboard has very sharp edges.
ASSEMBLY: Easy peasy. Plug wand into cleaner head and plug/attach motor to wand. Untie and wind up cord. Use the attachment caddy/holder to put crevice tool and pet tool on wand. I’m not sure how the precision duster attaches to the assembled unit. The downside to the attached tools is they get in the way and tend to fall off the wand as you’re using the unit.
IMPRESSIONS: This unit is as good if not better than my current Shark stick vacuum. The unit picks up very well. It can be a bit top heavy for some users. Also, for shorter individuals, the wand seems a bit long. It would be great if there were a way to shorten the wand or to have an additional shorter option. For my mom who is 5-foot-tall, it was a bit tall and she had quite an angle to keep it at a comfortable position. After testing out the unit, I was looking at how to store the unit and unlike my 2-year-old unit, this Shark has a convenient tab on the cleaner head. It’s shaped like the wall mount, but on the head and you can detach the motor and hang it right above the cleaner head. It allows you to still wind up the power cord. That said, the long power cord is a welcome addition too. Nothing worse that buying a vacuum with a short cord, having to go from outlet to outlet.
Overall, I’m happy with the unit. Weight can be an issue for some, but not for me. The extra large collector holds a bit more than my older model. The wand as said needs a way to be adjusted, but I’d still recommend Shark machines over other brands I’ve used or own.

Great for me as a student. Not so great 4 artists

First impression is I like the style vs the Apple pencil. I use 3 sided and carpenter pencils and the flat design works for me. For others it may not. I charged the crayon with my Pixel charger and the lightning to USB cable. I wish there was an indicator that said it was fully charged. The scant instructions were of no help. I Googled it and saw that it charges rather rapidly so I figured I was good. The crayon paired up and was ready to go. It works great and there didn't seem to be any lag. The only difference I could see between the Apple pencil and the crayon was the Logitech isn't pressure sensitive and it doesn't have any variation when you're drawing a line. For me using it as a pen, it's great. If you're wanting to draw with it, I'd suggest to pony up the extra few bucks and get the Apple pencil.
Two things to mention. I've read that the crayon is only good for the 6th generation iPad and not the pro models. Second there is a firmware update from August 29th on the Logitech website. I haven't installed it and the site doesn't state what the update does so maybe it adds features that currently don't work with my crayon.
Overall it's great for me, but should I want to use it with apps and pressure sensitivity, I'll have to purchase an Apple pencil too.

Great baby monitor but it has issues..at least for
on October 8, 2018

So this is probably one of the best baby monitors currently on the market. It has smart sensors for sound, motion and temperature, but I've yet to figure out how to get them to my liking. The motion and sound detection goes off nonstop and you find yourself constantly hitting the ok button when you are trying to go through the menu. The unit has no issues working through the one wall I have between the camera and the handheld monitor. Battery life seems good and the box states 13 hours standby and 5 hours screen on. This thing is always on so I just leave it plugged in unless I need to take it elsewhere for a few minutes.
The camera is able to tilt down, pan back and forth as well as 2x zoom. The unit has clear night mode, but I haven't had a chance to test it. I've read both good and bad reviews on the graininess of the picture, so I'd advise a buyer to look into that feature. There are mics and speakers for 2 way communication. The box states it has noise reduction, but I've had some high pitch squeals when I get the two too close to each other. Another feature I haven't tested yet is the lullaby and white noise. The box states the it can be remotely activated or auto-played via the sound sensor. For those familiar with Panasonic 2.4 ghz devices, the monitor uses the DECT technology to secure an interference free zone up to 1500 feet.
The box comes with the hand-held monitor, the camera, a wall mount, two power adapters - 1 for each unit and a rechargeable battery for the hand-held. Overall it's a nice setup except for the glitches with the motion and sound software. It would be nice to say it was just an inconvenience, but it really is a pain in the rear as it goes off constantly. That said, I'd still recommend the unit.

More than an instant pot
on October 7, 2018
Posted by: RandallFlagg
from Hi Desert, CA
So I have a rice cooker and a 7qt Instant Pot. The rice cooker was retired when I got the Instant Pot and I think the Ninja Foodi will be my go to cooker now. It does most of the functions of an Instant Pot and more. Tonight I unboxed the unit and accessories, washed them all with hot soapy water and dried them. I then wanted to try something simple and something the Instant Pot doesn't do. So I chose frozen french fries. I set the unit to 20 minutes and let it heat up for the first five. Then I added 3 minutes to make it 18 for cooking. During the warm up I added a pound of frozen fries to the baking pot and it was ready to drop in. I opened the unit about 4 times to stir/toss the fries a bit and each time the cooking paused with no issues. It wasn't super hot and I didn't have a mitten on. I was just careful not to get too close in case of steam or touching a hot surface. The fries came out great. Almost burnt, but mostly golden brown. The outside was snappy and the inside was soft and just right. I never get fries like that out of my oven.
I waited to clean the pots as they were hot even through a mitt. I ate my fries...which again were delish and then with a mitt I removed the cooking pot and baking pot and cooled them under a cold streaming faucet. Then a quick was with a few drops of Dawn and a good rinse. I know I'm going to be using this as I enjoy many frozen items. I need to read the book and see if I can do frozen hot wings next. I have a couple of bags in the freezer ready for some blue cheese dressing! If you like easy cooking, the recipe book has a lot of choices besides frozen foods to try. Most of them required a number of ingredients that I didn't have on hand, so I went with my favorite frozen food. For me and my type of cooking, I highly recommend the Ninja Foodi!

You would have thought...
on September 26, 2018
Posted by: RandallFlagg
from Hi Desert, CA
I entered the access code for Bitdefender 2019 last night and it stated I have 365 days of access. I still had 76 days of access, but it reset. I would have thought it added a year to my current balance, but unfortunately that didn't happen.
So my initial impression. I like the dashboard for Bitdefender and it seems to be running flawlessly in the background....for now. The reason I deleted it last time was that over time it became slower and slower to the point that my system couldn't process my normal workload. It would just freeze and I'd have to walk away or hard boot the system. As soon as I uninstalled the product and went back to Windows Defender the system was running as it should. I tried AVG Ultimate and it did the same thing. So here I am starting again with the 2019 version. I hope it doesn't let me down but only time will tell.

I'd still recommend the software. Just user beware that you may encounter difficulties down the road...or not. YMMV

Great mouse so far....

I've been using the G603 from Logitech and I've been fairly happy with it. Today I opened up the G Pro and what a difference. To be honest, I thought I was just going to open it up and test it out for the night, then go back to the G603. Now I think that it's going to stay and the old one will go into storage. The G Pro just seems smoother and more responsive. It also seems to be better at multiple left button clicks on games that require it. I swapped out the USB dongle and both Windows 10 and the Logitech G Hub picked up the new mouse. I was able to go into the G Hub software and adjust the lighting to my choice... blue and steady.
The unit comes with a USB cable an adapter if you need to add the dongle to the end of the micro USB male end. I use the extra USB slot in the G513 keyboard. The unit charged fairly quickly. I was able to use the mouse while it charged and before I knew it, G Hub showed it fully charged. I've been using it for a few hours and it's gone down 10% to 89%.
So what don't like about the mouse. Well it does what a lot of mice do and that's the buttons on the sides tend to get hit by me accidently. Maybe it's just me, but it something I have to be mindful about. This mouse is great for lefty's or right handed individuals as it has side buttons on each side. The unit also comes with replacement buttons for each of the 4 sides buttons. I'm assuming since its a gaming mouse those buttons tend to get worn out.
Overall this is a great mouse and I'll be using it on my daily pc.

Great speaker with a few gripes
on September 15, 2018
Posted by: RandallFlagg
from Hi Desert, CA
The speaker sounds pretty good, but at higher volume I do hear some distortion. To start off with there are a number of apps for these speakers and it took 3 tries to get the right one. First I dl'd one for the boom. It fired up and said get the newer one. I installed that but apparently I can't read on a second attempt and got one for the megablast. Finally the 3rd try got me the correct app. It's currently the one with blue lettering and a white background 9/15/18. The blast has the opposite and the old boom was a round logo. I fired up the correct app which told me to uninstall the old boom app to continue. Ok, just another task to do in order to get up and running...right? Nope. Please update to the latest firmware was the next order of business. So okay here we go.....95% and then stall and I do mean stall. It took forever to finish. Once it did, I was able to access the equalizer and remote controls. During this time the speaker worked by connecting to my Pixel's bluetooth. My Android is updated to the latest version 9 Pie.
I fired up Amazon Music and listened to the classic rock station for about 5 songs and then a number of songs via the album selections. My main complaint is that treble hiss which I tried to tone down or out with the eq, but it didn't make much difference. The bass is decent for the size of the unit, but honestly I think the Sony SRS-XB41 sounds better. One thing I really like is the Magic Button. I used it to advance tracks, pause and play and it worked every time.
Lastly, I like the fact that you can purchase a recharging base for the unit. I wish it was included with the speaker, but it's understandable that keeping costs down are needed to keep it competitive in this category. Hopefully a patch may be offered down the road to help remedy the distortion or hiss. It may have been my source (Amazon) so your mileage may vary. I'll be trying other sources and hope that it fixes the issue for my ears. Overall I really like the unit. The large volume buttons on the front work great and by pressing them both the unit tells you how much battery life is left. Once I get the charging base, that shouldn't be a problem anymore.

Work great

from Hi Desert, CA
I'm not really a corded mouse user, but I can see how one would be better for gamers. Reducing any chance for lag is probably needed for online shooters.
The mouse looks great and it functions wonderfully. I attached it to a backup Windows 10 machine with no issues. I didn't have a mouse pad available so I just used the clean desk. It's an old military steel tanker desk and the mouse performed as expected. It was easy to use, glided smoothly and the settings out of the box were perfect for me.
The software I have downloaded for the Fnatic Streak keyboard also allows for mouse adjustments. You can adjust the lighting just like the keyboard, but honestly I left it stock because unlike the keyboard, I can't see the mouse, my hand is covering it up. There is a performance tab that allows you to adjust a few sensor positions, but again I just left it stock. For Gamers, I'm sure as suggestion are sent the software will be updated. I didn't look but I need to see how to adjust the scroll wheel. It clicks, which I like over the Logitech G603 I use on my main desktop. Unlike the G603, it seems to take forever to scroll a page with the Clutch 2. I'm sure there must be a setting that can pick how many lines to scroll with each click...at least I hope so. The mouse is made for right-handed people with the buttons on the left side.
Other than that, it's a great wired mouse right out of the box and even though I don't game much anymore, I think gamers would be very happy with the performance. I'd recommend this to a friend.

This HP Pavilion gaming desktop has a 1TB hard drive and 128GB solid-state drive for a large game collection and quick boot times.

Does the included keyboard have volume control buttons on it?

Yes, above the 4 5 and 6 keys. They share the key with a function key. They work without a second key press, the function keys need to use a second key. Hope that helps.

No, the monitor is really thin and doesn't have the 4 VESA screw mounts. Attached is the stand assembly, maybe that will help.

Can this monitor be put on a desk mount?

I don't think so. The screen is really thin from the top to about 2/3 of the way down. The bottom is about 3/4 inch thick, but the only mount looks to be the proprietary male end to plug into the HP base. I have a screen shot of the assembly attached. Maybe that will help you visualize the mount. I hope that makes sense and helps you out

Enjoy your favorite music through these Sony Sports wireless noise-cancelling headphones. The in-ear design ensures a snug fit, so you can jog or walk without missing a beat, and the wireless format eliminates the need for cumbersome cords. The Ambient Sound Mode on these Sony Sports wireless noise-cancelling headphones keeps you alert to your environment.

Two questions: First, 6 hours battery life for listening time? Second, Can you turn off the noise canceling to increase battery life in-between charges?

I can try to answer the second question. Yes, you can toggle between nothing, noise canceling and ambient sound. I don't know if that saves you battery life between charges though. I just started using these.

The only purifying fan to clean a whole room properly*. We design our purifying fans to go beyond test chamber conditions and focus on real home conditions – this is more than just having an efficient filter.*Dyson engineers and research concluded that to clean an entire room properly, you need to sense pollution events automatically; capture ultrafine pollutants; and project cleaner air around the room using Air Multiplier technology. Only the Dyson purifying fan is designed and tested to do all of this.**Dyson technology helps create a cleaner, healthier home - Our vacuums and purifiers are scientifically proven to capture particles as small as allergens and bacteria.

How often do you need to replace filters

According to a Dyson US YouTube video, they state in 30 seconds that the filters need to be changed once a year based on usage of 12 hours per day. They also recommend using auto mode as it only filters air when needed. How you use the unit will probably have the biggest impact on filter replacement.

Navigate your desktop precisely with this Logitech wireless gaming mouse. Its sensitivity of 12,000 dpi ensures accurate movements, and it delivers up to 500 hours of nonstop gaming before needing batteries replaced. This Logitech wireless gaming mouse lets you connect to multiple devices via Bluetooth and switch between them with a push of a button.

might want to label it with the correct title if you want any one to be able to find it. it's the G603

Huh, the label says G603 Bluetooth Optical Gaming Mouse. Maybe Best Buy fixed it since you posted???

Charge your type C devices with this Digipower USB charging cable. The cord connects to a standard power pack or laptop USB plug for convenience.

Will this cable work with a google Pixel? It says it is a USB-C to USB-A..but are there other different variations I need to be looking for?

The Pixel uses a usb-c and the usb-a is the rectangle one that will fit into a desktop or laptop usb slot 2.0 or 3.0. It will also fit another 110v adapter, but not the Google Pixel adapter. The Pixel adapter is usb-c also so you would need a cord that was usb-c on both ends to work with the Phone and the included adapter. Hope that makes sense.
