I was very pleased to see this at Best Buy, with a cool slip cover to boot! A fun, old-school film with Christopher Lee under the wrappings. You already know if you like these old Hammers, so let me just say that if you have the old DVD, this is a worthy upgrade. It's not the sharpest HD picture, but the colors are very strong and the whole things is just more pleasing to the eye than the old DVD. It's also available in a 3-movie Hammer set.. No extras, other than the trailer, but the pictire quality is very nice and the price is right.
10 Cloverfield Lane is a good time at the movies. VERY suspenseful, with a terrific performance by John Goodman. Officailly this is a sequel to Cloverfiled, but the connection is tenuous, and all in the final few minutes. With a more conventional ending this would have been a fine stand-alone thriller. Either way, it's a lot of fun.
The blu-ray itself is excellent -- picture and sound are outstanding. If you're looking for some nail-biting hi-def fun, go get it!
Really enjoyed this film. While it certainly is a throwback and tribute to old Hollywood musicals, it has a fresh contemporary feel too. Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling are terrific in their roles, and the bittersweet finale really makes the film and sets it apart from the musicals of the past.
The blu-ray is excellent! Stunning picture quality and sound that does justice to some terrific tunes. You'll have City Of Stars running through your head for days. Highly reccommended!
Another in the wonderful series of blu-ray editions of Universal Monster classics. The restorations of all the monster titles have been exceptional, and the Mummy series looks just as good as all that have come before. In one way the Mummy set is a better value than the others, because most of the titles are making their first appearance here. The Frankenstein, Wolfman and Dracula titles have many of the same films duplicated from set to set -- however, at these prices they are still a good value. As movies, the Mummy series has less variety than the others -- the four sequels are very similar to each other -- but if you're a Universal Monsters fan they're still a must have. Pus, the set also includes Abbott & Costello Meet The Mummy -- a title I had never seen before.
Highly reccommended for the former Monster Kids out there!
Besides a good performance from Fred Gwynne and some creepy atmosphere, Pet Sematary is nothing to write home about. Other than the dark premise (which is brilliant) Pet Sematary is a fun, but forgettable King adaptation. Many parts were overdone to the point of cheesiness, and illogic runs rampant
The sad part is that the movie had the potential to be a great psychological/emotional horror film. The premise is great and carries real dramatic weight. However, they went for the lowest common denominator by replacing horror and emotion with cheap thrills and shocks. It's dumb fun . . . but it could have been soooo much more.
Fun movie! It's a treat to spot a number of actors and sets from the Andy Griffith Show in this film. It's about what you'd expect -- wholesome, silly comedy with Don Knotts in his prime. An excellent blu-ray too with beautiful picture quality. Best Buy has been offering this at an excellent price . . . so go get it. Atta boy Luther!
This is the new (as of late 2016) blu-ray of AAWIL, and it's head and shoulders above the old release. The picture is much cleaner and brighter with less grain and more detail.
If you don't have the film yet, or want to upgrade your old blu-ray this is well worth the small investment!
I always liked Tales From The Darkside. It can't hold a candle to Twilight Zone, but it wasn't really trying to. It was made on a much smaller budget, and it's far more horror oriented, but it's a lot of fun. The first season on 3 DVDs. Includes some classics: Trick or Treat, A Case Of The Stubborns, Levitation and others.
NOTE: Apparently the original has been replaced on these DVDs, but this isn't a show where the music played a big part (unlike, for example, The Wonder Years.) I never would have noticed the change, and I doubt most fans would.
This Insignia™ NS-P9DVD15 portable DVD player supports DVD±R/RW, DVD, CD-R/RW, CD and JPEG formats, so you can enjoy your favorite media on the go. The 9" display and swivel design ensure comfortable viewing.
My wife and I bought this portable player for a trip out of state. We were able to enjoy a movie together on the plane, plus we were able to plug it into our hotel room TV and use it as a standard DVD player. Works great, excellent picture, swivel screen -- a very nice little unit.
For use in the hotel I was wishing that it came with a remote, but that's a (very!) minor complaint. Go get it!
