The new MacBook Pro is faster and more powerful than before, yet remarkably thinner and lighter.¹ It has the brightest, most colorful display ever on a Mac notebook. And it features up to 10 hours of battery life.² It’s a notebook built for the work you do every day. Ready to go anywhere a great idea takes you.
This is my second Mac Pro, I am replacing a 2013 13" MBPr. I am only replacing it because my wife needed a laptop. I did not want her to use a windows device after her use of iPhones and iPad's. I thought it would be too frustrating for her and me. I will not turn this into a Apple vs Windows review, but I will keep it to a review of this new product. I had a 2013 MBPr which I loved, I seriously considered buying the 2015 model because of the price, no loss of ports and similar performance specs. I found the new model on sale at Best Buy and decided to purchase it. The new MacBook and my previous model have the same amount of disk storage and memory. The main difference is the generation of processors and physical size of the unit. I researched almost every review and article I could find. The overall consensus was that it lacks ports and the keyboard feels a bit different. I totally agree, I wish they would have keep a legacy USB port , SD card slot and the Mag safe charge connector. If you are on the go and need to connect devices with different connector I can see where it might be a pain. I purchased one connector at the time of purchase to connect usb devices $8.99. I will use wireless for most of my connections via airport usb hard disk. Without going into performance specs and benchmarks the following is my opinion of this model compared to my older mode. Performance is not really noticeable compared to my 2013, it did everything I needed to do. I use it for general web surfing , e-mail and banking. I don't game or do any professional video processing. I have done some work with videos of the grandkid's and photo albums. Everything seems about on par with my older model. I love the size being a bit smaller and the keyboard is no big issue, I do type so for me it seems great. It is a bit louder than the older model and the track pad is larger but I don't really notice the difference. Someone who uses all the features may notice, and the reviewers love it. The display looks great but unless it is side by side with my older model it is not noticeable. To sum things up for the average user you will love it. For power users and people who are constantly connecting devices you may find it a pain.
