The pics look like neoprene, but is actually a soft, fuzzy velour kind of material. Feels good, just was expecting the more common neoprene.

I did quite a bit of research about a budget tablet and concluded on the Asus Zenpad. I am not disappointed in any way. Love the quickness of the tab, the wonderful additions by Asus. It has almost twice the RAM of any tablet in it's price range. It's not a top-line tablet, but I would say the best of its price class. The tablet was ok, but not as good quality as I expected. It is a cheaper made tablet. The screen is a cheaper plastic kind that has a very grainy and difficult to look at resolution. The apps were nice, but they are available on the Play Store for free through the PBS kids Game app, as well as the videos are available through the video app. Returned for a Nabi and much happier.
