The display does not display Clock/minutes played/mode/type of disk. It does display relative count positive in a chapter, error messages, general messages and player status. The build quality is very similar to the OPPO 203. The playback features of the UBP-X100ES are are very similar to its' little brother, the UBP-X800. However, there are customization features that you may or may not be interested in. To see those differences, do a side-by-side comparison of the two units either on this site or via Sony.
To answer your final question, yes I think it's worth the extra expense just from the build quality alone.
