A classic gets the Blu-ray treatment

If you grew up in the late 70s or the 80s, there is no doubt Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory is on your list of favorite childhood films. The Blu-ray release finally brings the world of pure imagination into the 21st century by showing it in 1080p for the first time at home. While the film has never looked or sounded this good before, that is also it's biggest problem.
The budget for this film was (unsurprisingly) very low. So it's also no surprise that even when it was brand new it wasn't a masterful work of art. By presenting the film in full 1080p, many of its flaws are revealed. That's not to say the film isn't worth picking up. It definitely is. Just temper your expectations.
If you're looking to bring back memories of your childhood, or share the nostalgia with children in your life today, then definitely pick this Blu-ray up. I'll take this old version over the Johny Depp film any day of the week!

Going in I figured this was just going to be another run of the mill stoner comedy. I was pleasantly surprised to find out I was wrong.
Seth Rogen plays a process server who likes to partake in the wacky tobacky, and one night witnesses a high profile murder. He then goes on the run with his pot dealer (Franco) to save their own lives and that of their loved ones.
The film is filled with great action sequences throughout, but hits a climax with an over the top showdown that almost seems out of place if it wasn't so much fun.
The Blu-ray presentation is wonderful with great 1080p video and a well done DD TrueHD audio mix.
There is a new mastered in 4K version out, but I'm not sure that contains the unrated version of the film. It may however exceed this release's video quality.
For the price though, you can't go wrong with this version.

If you're a fan of Jesse Eisenberg, Danny McBride, Nick Swardson, and Aziz Ansari you are in luck.
Loosely based on true events, 30 Minutes or Less is a fast paced, fun action/comedy. An underachieving, but excellent driving, pizza delivery boy (Eisenberg) is kidnapped, strapped with a bomb, and forced to rob a bank by an even more underachieving, freeloading son of a lottery winner and his lackey friend. With the help of his best friend (Ansari), the pizza boy is in for the delivery of his life.
The movie is fast paced, funny, and never overstays its welcome. The blu-ray presentation is top notch as well with a pristine 1080p transfer and a wonderful DTS-MA soundtrack.
Highly recommended.

Dane Cook gets a ton of hate, at least according to masses on the Internet. Personally, I don't get it. I think the guy is funny. He's about the right mix of cocky and charming, comparable maybe to a Vince Vaughn type.
That said, if you don't like Dane Cook, look elsewhere. For fans of his though, the film is very enjoyable. Jessica Alba, while not the world's best actress, is cute in her part and smoking hot as usual.
The video looks great in 1080p, and the audio is serviceable as far as comedies go. There are also a good amount of extras if that's what you're looking for.
Overall I enjoy the film and felt the presentation on Blu-ray makes it one worth owning.

Gritty, beautiful graphic novel based film

Frank Miller brings his neo-noir graphic novel to life in the film adaption of Sin City. This is an ultra-violent film filled with good guys and bad guys who sometimes straddle that line.
The Blu-ray is a pristine presentation of the film, offering different cuts of the film to enjoy. The incredible atmosphere is shown off beautifully in 1080p, as is the reference level lossless 5.1 audio.
For fans of the film, at this price, it's about all you could ask for. Even as a blind buy you could do a lot worse.

Teen wolf is one of those classic 80's movies that may not be high class cinema, but is definitely fun to watch. The Blu-ray presentation is good, and definitely the best it has been on a home video format. The sound is only 2 channel DTS-MA which leaves something to be desired, and there are virtually no extras for those who are into that sort of thing.
If you like the film for it's 80's nostalgia, really it's a no-brainer to buy this BD.
