Works OK on local net

Despite the warnings about slow performance, I gave this drive a try. It's fast enough for my purposes, and as a hobby photographer, I transfer many gigabytes of photos routinely. At least, I did until we went to our winter home. From outside my local net, my computer can no longer see the drive. I haven't contacted support to ask if it's possible to remotely access the drive. In our winter home, I've switched back to a USB-connected drive for backing up my photos.

Quiet, fast and (hopefully) reliable

We are snowbirds who live in Arizona during the winter. In the summer, our AZ house is empty and not air conditioned. During the summer, the inkjet printer we have here dries up its cartridges and ruins the print heads. I've purchased less expensive printers (three in four years), expecting to replace the printer every year.
This year, I decided that I can forego color and for the same price as a mid-level ink jet, I can get a laser printer. I'm hoping that the toner-based system won't have issues with high temps in the summer. We'll see.
Only negative to this printer is the scanning software isn't as capable as that with the 8500 and 8600 series ink jet printers that are my favorite. Scanning from the printer is not possible. You must load the item to be scanned and then initiate scanning from the computer, a minor annoyance.

Great picture... not so smart TV

I have an LG and a Samsung (both smart), so I thought I would add a third TV to our house. I won't go into why I chose a different brand than either of the two I already had, but I have my reasons. In any case, fortunately the "smart" part of this TV isn't my primary reason for having it. If I wanted to surf the web with a smart TV, I would recommend a Samsung. Of the three, it's web browser experience is the best. Sony doesn't support a mouse interface, so you must use the collection of apps they have available. The app I use most is the YouTube app. Both the LG and the Samsung provide a better connection experience to the YouTube app than the Sony, but only marginally better.
In short, for picture quality, my 48-inch Samsung is best, followed very closely behind by this 48-inch Sony. The 47-inch LG that I have is a step behind the other two due to a rainbow reflection issue in the black areas of the screen when lights are on in the room.
I would not recommend the Sony if you want an Internet connected TV. If you want a great picture, and a reasonable price, the Sony model without Internet would be a good choice.

Nice shave... finicky charger base

I got this new shaver on a Deal of the Day. It has a trimmer, something lacking on my old shaver. I have repurposed my old shaver to travel duty replacing an even older shaver.
I like the shaver, but the donut-shaped charger is completely symmetrical and it's not easy to tell the orientation of the charger connector when you try to set the shaver on it to charge. This is a minor nit to pick, but it is a minor annoyance every time I try to recharge the shaver. I don't use the charger every day as it will run a very long time on a charge.

Not much to say... it's a metal box with a padded top on which you can set the coffee maker. It's a little larger than I imagined so its footprint is larger than the coffee maker alone, but it takes up less space on the counter than a stand-alone K-Cup storage device would need.

Battery backup protects my Internet

The other day my Internet went down while we were away and I couldn't access my home security system from my Cellphone. When I arrived at home, I found that the battery backup I use to keep my cable modem, wi-fi and security system hardware running during a power outage failed after less than 3 years.
Even though that unit was still in warranty, I couldn't find the documentation to verify proof of purchase. I decided to spend a bit more and purchase an APC replacement supply instead of the brand I purchased originally. The APC unit happened to be on sale, so it was only $10 more than an exact replacement, and it is providing me with 25% greater capacity.
I've only had it a week now, but it's operating fine. The only issue I have with these supplies is that most of the equipment I need to plug in have oversize power supply boxes making it impossible to use every outlet. Fortunately, I was able to plug in my two wifi routers and cable modem without resorting to a secondary outlet strip, but I lost the use of one of the protected outlets. The security monitor that I would like to have available in case of an outage is plugged into the unprotected side. If the monitor goes down, I can still operate the system via my cell phone app, so the system is still operational. Not ideal, but I preferred that solution to the hassle of adding a second power strip..
I only gave the unit 4 stars because they had the room on the exterior to spread the outlets widely, but chose to group three outlets together and set only one to the side. Had they divided the outlet space equally across the front of the device and relocated the power switch, I might have been able to use all four protected outlets.

Does what I need it to do

Going on a trip with my Nikon camera and I didn't want to haul my laptop along. The EyeFi card allows me to transfer files to my iPad for editing and uploading to social media..
Instructions were a little vague, so I found a link on the Internet with assistance that got me up and running. That's the only reason I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars.
This is not a quick solution to transfer images on the fly, though I suppose you could. Once the device connects and you run the app on your device, it immediately starts downloading all of the new images (that it didn't already download) to the iPad.
I ordered a 16 GB card, but Best Buy was out of stock and it was shipped to me. Unfortunately, I got the shipping notice the day before we were to leave on our trip. It wouldn't reach me in time before we left on our trip. I stopped by the nearest Best Buy store and picked up the 8 GB card, cancelling my order for the 16 GB card.

can you zoom the screen for netflix and amazon instant video to full screen on movies that are not full screen
I don't use either the Amazon or Netflix apps, but I do use the YouTube app. It cannot zoom to a full screen. I suspect the other apps won't either, there isn't a zoom function that appears to be useful for this on the remote.
