Love Them So Far

After reviewing the Bose Wireless Ear Buds and all the issues reported with the left ear cutting out and the positive reviews on these, I decided to give them a try. Initially these were not the most comfortable ear buds to wear, but after a couple times wearing them, I have gotten use to them and now barely notice them in my ear. I did experience my left ear bud cut out and could not get it to reconnect until I put both ear buds back in the charging case for a few seconds and took them back out. They reconnected with no issues. So far I have only had that happen once and it was easily resolved. I have not used these any longer then an hour at at time, but as my training season ramps up, I will be using them a good 4 hours at a time. Hopefully they will still feel comfortable wearing them that long as well as not have any issues with the left ear bud. Time will tell, but so I really like them and would buy them again in a heart beat.

The price for the Switch Dock set is a bit pricey if you ask me, but it is really nice to be able to play on the main TV and move the gaming to a different room and still be able to play on a big screen TV. This is not a necessity to have, but sure is nice moving room to room.

While I do like the controllers that come with the Switch, I am used to playing on other consoles with a more standard type of controller. For me, it just seems to make the gameplay a little better with a controller that is a little larger and closer to what I am used to. Although if it was not for me wanting to play against my son on games that require multiple controllers, I probably would not have gotten it. But since we needed a 2nd controller, this was a great purchase.

Great to see Nintendo got back to releasing a great game. I have been pretty disappointed in their Mario themed games for a while. This game is what they needed. Gameplay is fun and easy. Fun for adult and a child. Love all the different game aspect they brought into this one. Was skeptical about pre-ordering it, but figured I would. No regrets. Game has been worth every penny so far. Hopefully, we will not get bored with it too soon.

Ties in great with my home automation

I got tired of relying on my home camera's system relying on GEO location from my phone to enable and disable the motion sensors from triggering when I was home. It was very inconsistent. The Samsung SmartHome hub was 50% off so I bought one and a couple of the arrival sensors. I tied it into my Google Home and camera system. I have it setup to enable the cameras when all the sensors leave and disable when anyone of the arrive. This worked so well that I have other automations setup around the house based the individual sensor. Nice little side feature is we all keep them on our keyrings and if we misplace them, you can use the app to initiate a ring to find them.

I started off with a couple of these bulbs just to try them out to see what the hype was. Now I have them in almost every light fixture in the house. Super convenient having the ability to control the light with my voice using Google Home. I love the ability to change the lighting colors and scenes from bright to a cool relaxing blue, etc. There are many apps out there as well that let you extend the ability and usefulness of the lights. I have certain lights that will flash when the doorbell rings just in case I don't hear the bell. I also have a timer set to flash the lights so my kids know when to start getting ready for bed. This is technology I never thought I would need or want until I tried it. Now I am hooked.

I have the Hue light dang near everywhere in my house and they are connected to our Google Home, but these Dimmer Switches come in handy in rooms that I don't have a Google Home speaker but most importantly in the bedrooms. Our son has a Philips Hue light strip behind his bed that he can control with these switches without the need for a smartphone for the app or a Google Home in his room. My wife is able to adjust the lights in our room as well without waking me up using voice commands or having to get her phone. They allow us to set multiple scenes as well as brightness. Even though we have multiple Google Home devices around the house, I still have a switch in every room as well.

The water at our house is really hard and seemingly not treated very well from the city. Our family drinks a lot of water so we ultimately go through the filters fast. I was buying Samsung branded filters and spending a ridiculous amount for a single filter that only lasted me a couple months. I found the Insignia brand that comes in a two pack for the same cost as a single Samsung. They seem to be lasting me a little longer than the Samsung are for half the cost. Once I found these, I have not gone back to the other.

I started off with one of the light strips to test given the cost but quickly bought more. I have 5 in my house right and will purchase additional. They are under the counter in the kitchen, on the mantle above the TV, behind the TV, under the kitchen Island and one behind our son's bed. They create great indirect back lighting and tied in seamlessly with our Google Home for voice control. It would just be nice if they were a little less pricey, but so far have been worth every penny.

I originally purchased the Google Home to go along side my smart lighting. But after getting it home and realizing that there were other devices already in my house that Home could interact with, like my Harmony Hub, it started to become more of a toy and something that I interacted with more. Even after training my voice to it, I found that it was somewhat hit of miss with it understanding what I was asking. Ask it to do something and it tells you that it doesn't understand, but say it may be a little slower/faster with more emphasis and works. It is able to tell the difference between my voice and my wife's voice and it will respond with the corresponding persons information. It is not without its problems though. Shortly after getting it, Google had issues on their end causing the device to not respond to any commands. While Google resolved it within a day or two, it made the device useless. I have also had issues where I have cast music to the device and it did not respond after starting the song. I tried to play the next song, but it just kept playing the current one. I tried killing the Google Music app on my Pixel phone, but the Home kept playing the song. Ultimately I had to reset the Home device to get it to stop. To this point, I have only used it for controlling smart devices, but am slowly getting into using it more to interact with my calendar, etc. So far Google Home has been a fun toy, but not a necessity for me to have.

Does it work with TV?
From my experience, Yes. It depends on the devices you have connected to it. I have a Harmony Hub in the Living Room that Google Home connects to and allows me to control my TV and other entertainment equipment. I also have a Chrome Cast on another TV that is also controlled by the Google Home.

How comfortable are these for sleeping? Is there a better model?
I can't say I have slept with them on all night, but I have fallen asleep for a few hours with them on. They didn't bother me at all. But the few times I have fallen asleep with them on, I was sleeping on my back. If you roll onto your sides a lot, they might not work so well for you. As for other models, can't help you much there.
